It is a typical pseudo-local farmer roadside stand that has sub-supermarket quality produce at a premium prices....it seems to be also about the same that you can find in Mexican groceries in either this area or in Santa Maria. Very little is local & most is older than the stuff they sell at Costco. As you can see in some of the pics, the fruits have labels on them...these are not local Farmer's Market produce. Some of this old stuff may even be from Mexico... more to mark up. Some even might be resold from Costco....like Mangos which are definitely not local. They are banking on newbies who are going down route one & do not know about the many great real farmers markets or better roadside stands in the area....like Okui's [7 days a week, but seasonal, in Grover Beach off 13th street... https://www.yelp.com/biz/ okuis-strawberry-n-fruit-stand-grover-beach?osq=okui ] or Rutiz Farm stand [ http://www.rutizfarms.com ] /off the Pike/Halycion on Fridays/Sat.. also in Grover/ Halycion. While Hayashi's stand also on Route 1, has mostly supermarket type produce, they often do have their own fresh picked local Strawberries. If you do a bit of Goggle research you can find some sort of Farmer's Market pretty much everyday of the week in the general 50 mile or so area. They even have one on Mondays in Baywood/ Los Osos. some local: http://slocountyfarmers.org & all local: http://slocountyfarmers.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/SLOCO_FMs2017.pdf Anyway, the only highlight is that they have some bottle food like they do at Hayashi's. Since the Oceano area really does not have much, I guess this fills a niche. I rarely bother with Oceano, but I will pass thru to get fried Shrimp or a Burger at Beach Burger.

Oceano Packing is also the home of Garcia's Fruits and Vegetables, one of those semi-rural hidden…read moretreasures one can run across quite accidentally, when rolling down the road. This operation is family owned and operated since 2001, and has a pretty good selection of locally grown fruit and veggies, depending on the season. BEST thing is the prices!! The prices here are generally 50% to 75% better than supermarket prices, depending on what you get. I have been shopping here twice a week for a few months now, and have never yet been disappointed in the quality of their produce. Their friendly service just adds more to the experience, especially if you speak Spanish. They have a variety of stone fruit, such as plums, pluots, peaches, apricots, as well as avocados. They have cauliflower, broccoli, celery, corn, watermelons, and the list goes on. If your Spanish is a bit rusty, come by on Sundays, when Martha, one of the owners' nieces is there. She is a nurse during the week, and her English is perfect. ALL of the family members who work there are friendly and helpful. Even though they are open 7 days from about 8 AM til about 5 PM, I have found that the best days are Wed. and Sun. Do not be afraid to ask if they have fresher specimens of what is on display, they will fetch stuff from the large walk-in fridges, or even let you do that, if you have a mind to freeze a bit! Big plus, they also carry fresh made guacomole, chips, honey, Mexican candies and salsa. I submit to you that it doesn't get any better than this...really!
