This place was so fun to visit! The little marketplace was fun to stroll through and had lots of yummy things to buy. Bought one of the triple berry pies and apple crisps to try and they were delicious! The filling for the berry pie was really good slightly tart and sweet. If you like pie crust, the crust was well done too- flaky and crisp. The apple crisp was soooo good- the topping was really tasty and the filling was delicious. I'd go back to try their other pies and hand pies. Feeding the sheep, cow, goats and llamas $3 a head lettuce was so fun! The animals loooove eating the lettuce and it's an enjoyable experience for kids and adults alike. The fields with bales of hay to climb and pose on and also the flower fields to walk around in was also nice too! There was a hay ride, but we were not able to make it-- maybe next time. The food was just mediocre. The pulled pork sandwich had too much sauce on it and it was hard to eat because the bread just fell apart. I wish there were a little more coleslaw on top because it cut the sweetness of the sauce. Would not order again. The tritip sandwich was just okay- lots of thinly sliced meat, but flavor was just alright. Would not order again. The plain hotdog was actually pretty good- it was a big hotdog. Would probably order again for my kid haha. The highlight of the meal was the Brussels sprouts (no pecans and subbed Parmesan for the bleu cheese)! Nicely roasted and seasoned. Theres a great selection of fresh produce, tasty treats, and ice cream, fresh-baked pies and pastries. Everything looks super fresh. The vibes here are awesome. You can feed the farm animals, stroll around the market, and they even offer hay rides from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. It is very family-friendly, and has a classic, welcoming farm atmosphere. The staff are nice, and keep the lines moving fast. Plus, there is plenty of parking, which makes getting in and out effortless. We also got cheese curds because we saw that they carry my favorite garlic dill curds from Cheese Brothers in Wisconsin. I was also thrilled to find some Cal Poly Creamery cheeses! Avila Valley Farm is a must stop of roadside tourist traps. What they have is a farm-stand shop on steroids. They have chicken shack & smokehouse stand, corn toaster stand, ice cream & sweets shop, and a main shop (filled with fresh produce, local honey, jams, snacks, pies-fresh and frozen, home gifts). Plus they offer hayrides rides and feeding farm animals. Public restrooms are not limited to paying customers which is always nice. True confession, we stopped here to use the restrooms. I've never been here. The game plan was to head back onto the road quickly after our break. But ya, that didn't happen. I got TRAPPED. My interest was peaked. I HAD to browse every inch of this place. Luved it!! The chicken shack stand sells BBQ and local crafted hard ciders. Corn roasters stand sells fresh roasted corn on the cob. Mmm. I bought one, delicious!! The ice cream& sweets shop sells taffy by the weight, packages of fudge and candies, and coffee. Take note though they do NOT offer ice cream samples. Don't even bother asking for the exception, they have signs stating no samples. The main shop had a dizzying amount of inventory. I picked up some items for purchase but bailed out of the line since there was no movement in the line due to multiple line cutters. I wasn't the only one that bailed out. Several others did as well versus losing our cool and spiraling into potential tourist trap rage. Chaotic checkout line. My suggestion is to move the pie display stand and make a roped line maze. And don't forget to check out the barnyard animals. Lettuce can be purchased to feed the animals. What a fun stop when in Avila Beach! My boyfriend and I stopped here on our drive back down to Ventura from Paso Robles. The animals are so adorable and the little market has the best variety of goodies for yourself and for gifts! Plus, the food here is very yummy and the ambiance in general is just homey and relaxing. I could see coming here with small kids or even as a cute little day date as we did. It's not too big but also not super small. Just do yourself a favor and grab a cookie. Ohmuhgoodness! SO yummy! This little stop was a treat for us on our way from staying in Pismo over to Avila. It's on a very convenient road so easy to stop in on our way in or out of town. There were yard games, animals, a tractor ride, and shop. We had the corn (great!) and picked up some fruit to take back to our hotel. But seriously... The peanut butter cookies! YUM! Today was the perfect day to visit this adorable little place. They have a cute barn where you can buy small cups of food for just a few dollars to feed the animals, which is perfect for children. The kids absolutely love interacting with the animals. They also offer hay rides that last about 10 minutes, which adds to the fun farm experience. Oh, I love this place. I've been taking my daughter here since she was a little and even at seventeen she still wants to come back. Our favorite activity is feeding those rascal goats some delicious lettuce. The animals and overall aesthetic here are great! We had such a fun day should our daughter around. So many animals to feed and see. You can purchase lettuce in the barn to feed to the animals. The barn had so many options and so many different treats and souvenirs you can take home. Color me a Believer! The reviews on Avila Valley Barn were spot on. I've been to various farms and pumpkin patches over the years, but this was the coolest farm I've ever been to! And definitely the first I've ever been compelled to write a review about... The grounds are very well taken care of with ample parking, clean bathrooms, and a neat farmer's market to buy fresh produce. Best $3 bucks ever for a head of lettuce to see the gleeful smiles of my kids feeding the goats and donkeys :) My 4-year old daughter had the time of her life riding a pony for the first time, and we loved watching every second of it as well. To top it off, there was an old-fashioned ice cream parlor inside, her favorite dessert! During a time when the world can seem a bit crazy, Avila Valley Barn was a welcome feast of simple pleasures. Dear Avila Valley Barn, I had no expectations coming here other than knowing it was close to the 101 freeway and it was a great place to stop. And, indeed, it was a great stop during our drive up the Central Coast. There were families and people of all ages and walks of life at your little farm. There were plenty of places to park and we got lucky finding a shaded spot under a tree near the entrance. There were plenty of things to see here from an ice cream barn on the left, a produce and small market in the middle, a corn on the cob stand, and an area to feed the little goats to the right - and plenty more animals around back. Avila Valley Barn had a variety of fruits and snacks available but I made sure to stand in the long (but fast) line for fresh roasted corn on the cob. It was delicious! We even bought some raspberries to snack on for the ride back. Too bad you were out of your apple cider but that only means I'd have to make a return visit. I did, however, make sure I purchased two of your pumpkin loaves and a giant cookie since all your other loaves were sold out. Oh, and your ice cream was so creamy. Avila barn will always have my heart, I have been coming here my entire life and for the first time I was able to bring my 1 year old to experience this special place. She loved the animals and atmosphere! We had a great time until we stopped in the store to buy items: Alondra was the cashier and she was rude and kept trying to rush me through the transaction. The setting is super cute and clean, and the whole place feels like a relaxed, charming farm-to-table spot. The views and outdoor picnic areas make it feel like a great day trip destination. What makes this place especially fun for kids (and adults too) is the farm animal experience. You can walk around and hand-feed animals like goats, sheep, chickens, and friendly farm creatures -- and kids love it. They even have a miniature Scottish Highlander cow, pygmy goats, an emu, and a resident farm cat that roam and interact with visitors. Feeding the animals with lettuce you can buy on site makes it a memorable, hands-on kind of visit. There are also seasonal activities like pony rides, hayrides, and U-pick produce that add to the fun for families. We only came with just me and my husband this time, but we definitely want to bring the kids next time -- they would absolutely love it. I decided to visit Avila Valley Barn this year to get pumpkins and take the family to a pumpkin patch. What a fun place! There's plenty things to do with the family from feeding or petting the animals to the hay maze and tractor ride. They have baked goods, ice cream, and food on site though we did not eat there. This is a wondeful place to take kids for an experience to fed some farm animals and ride a flatbed pulled by a tracktor (free) to pick seasional fruit in a field - a awsome. The the HomeGoods area is awesome and has it changed? They have lots of jams, pickles etc and kitchen goods and a wonderful toy area with old fashioned toys. A decade-+ ago there was a great vegetable and fruit farmers market with fair prices, but the vegies are mostly gone and limited fruits, though the lattet i think are local and fresh in season. The bakery is still there with the same great beaked goods. However, it seema like prices are 20% marked up -28-30$ a pie, roasted ear of corn 6$ and a sandwich at the snackbar is 20$!! The was a wonderful huge ice cream bar and fresh candy counter and that has been remodeled, one it tiny now and the other gone - mostly an empty space now. Way to expensive for locals now overall, clearly now a tourist trap, sadly. On a weekend this was packed in the past; have to assume prices now exclude locals. read more

I was disappointed with the strawberries I got here. They got moldy quickly and were not ripened correctly. I considered getting some corn on the cob and change my mind as they were a dollar per piece. I also thought of getting a hot tri tip sandwich. Changed my mind when I saw the meat being rolled outside uncovered in an area with a lot of dust and farm animals. They don't carry dairy so my plan to get some heavy cream to make whip cream for the strawberries did not go forward. Lot of people visiting so parking nearby was full.
