This is a very good record store in the stockade historic district in Kingston. Lots of great new arrivals very reasonably priced. They had two of Leonard Nimoy's records that came out in the 60s. I asked if they would do a deal if I bought both of them and they did great price. Very good selection of rock pop folk. New records as well. Was visiting from out of town. Bought a Hendrix vinyl with some superficial scratches - they told me it plays well. I should have checked but trusted their word. When I got home and played it, every side was skipping. Called them and explained, they told me I probably had a crappy record player. That's not the case... Told me to ship it back to them and they'd refund. I did what they asked and shipped the record along with all of my contact info. Never heard from them again, never got the refund, and they don't answer their phone so there is no way to get hold of them. read more

Good selection (not much beyond the basics in rock, electronic, jazz, though) and very reasonable prices, however the clerk, clearly not the owner, was very short with me and when I asked for a listening station he said "It's not hooked up." Meanwhile I saw numerous unused turntables in the back and plenty of speakers. He offered me "one needle drop" before he got back to listening to Steely Dan and blues records, neither of which I mind but his attitude towards customer service was a major turnoff compared to the other store I visited that day in Catskill, where the owner was super personable. Overall though besides this one clerk, I would go back here for the prices and new releases bin. Also they had a 4 for $10 deal on jazz records they were trying to clear inventory on and I have to say some of these were real deals. read more

Cool vibe. Nice knowledgeable staff and owner who turned out to be friendly and down to earth. Records are reasonably priced on some and a little higher for F and VF records. A listening station with headphones is readily available, and the owner encouraged me to take a listen. Check out their $1 bin outside and be sure to dig under each bin. read more

I really love this small little record shop; it's got a great selection of mostly vinyl that are priced well. But I love It mostly because the people who work here are so down to earth; they know and support local musicians and venues and they genuinely love playing records, talking shop with customers, making recs... they also sell refurbished record players, receivers, amps. I love the listening station in the window, a nice way to pass an hour on a rainy payday. read more

Best record shop in the Hudson Valley. Owner is a former VP from Sony Music, so he knows his music, especially '60s & '70s rock (obscure and obvious) and classic jazz. In fact, best jazz LP selection in the area. Punk and '80s-onward are less populated sections, but always with a deal in plain sight. The $5 bin is actually a 4 for $10 bin (aka $2.50 bin) and is always changing and very robust. There's even a $1 bin for those who prefer album covers! They also sell vintage receivers (Marantz, Kenwood) and turntables. But keep in mind that all merchandise is dependent on what can be found and by what is brought in. Used records rely on interesting collections being offered for sale. As time goes by, the quality--and frequency--of exceptional collections continues to improve. An added bonus, nearly all music played in-store is vinyl. A listening station is set up to verify condition and T-shirts, music-related books, cassettes, eight-tracks and CDs are also for sale is smaller quantities. They've even had reel-to-reel tapes from time to time. Not that I have the means to listen. Very relaxed atmosphere. ZERO attitude. Everyone is friendly if you ask for help. Otherwise, you're left alone to look through the bins. I check back often because great records don't last long. Just as a $20 bill doesn't stay on a sidewalk for long, neither do excellent condition first-pressing MONO copies. Sadly, the days of cute, lazy dogs on the floor have been fewer as foot traffic grows. Maybe request the owner bring back the dogs!! read more
