Seemed like a good place to hang out for a while, vibe was relaxed. Lots of good looking merch and coffee on the wall. Staff was friendly and got our drinks fast. Tried a couple drinks off the Summer menu. Got a Dirty Banana and a Strawberry Matcha Lemonade to go. Dirty Banana was a little sweet for me but tasted good. Strawberry Matcha Lemonade was tart but my wife liked it. Pretty cool coffee shop. Would love to come back because they have a pretty good looking menu.

A note on accessibility: there is a ~5in step to get into the bakery, so I had to lift the front of the stroller. And the door to get in is a narrow double door. Someone on the inside had to unlatch the second door so that our stroller could fit. I think it would be difficult for someone who uses a wheelchair to access the bakery.

Blue Atlas tapas style variety is always a hit with us. The only disappointment this time was the Elote dumplings. They were basically just corn gnocchi. When the food finally arrived, it was bland and lacked seasoning. My friend's grits weren't even properly cooked, so she had to send her meal back. After waiting again, she ended up sharing my French toast just so she could eat. Despite everything--the excessive wait, undercooked food, and having to send a meal back--we were still charged in full and weren't offered any type of discount or adjustment to our bill. Unfortunately, it got worse after we left. Multiple people in our group, including myself, began vomiting and feeling sick after eating here. I can't say for certain what caused it, but several of us becoming sick afterward is extremely concerning. We were excited to try Benedict on Cary, but spending two hours dealing with long waits and poorly prepared food, paying full price, and then ending the day sick was beyond disappointing. Upon entering, the books are found along the wall, there are tables and chairs to sit and the coffee is ordered at a counter right in the center of the store. Towards the back, they have a section just for kids and young adults. Also, there are plenty of parking outside. They have new and old books available at decent prices. One of the best things I have ever seen is they have a dedicated turning bookcase for BANNED books of Hanover county. It is a lending library. You choose a book, open it and scan the QR code inside and check off the book you picked. Then, you return it when you're done. No time limit on it. That easy. I am so proud that they are supporting these books and making it easy for anyone to have access to them. On this visit, I borrowed Jodi Picoult's book, Nineteen Minutes. I recommend you come visit and support this coffee/book shop in the VCU area. I definitely recommend it and plan to visit often.
