It was delicious and moist, and it had a lemon glaze on it. It was so hard to decide what to pick! Everything looked very good! I'd like to come back and try more options. Service was easy at the counter, and I took the muffin to go. There are some tables and chairs inside the bakery if you prefer to eat there. A note on accessibility: there is a ~5in step to get into the bakery, so I had to lift the front of the stroller. And the door to get in is a narrow double door. Someone on the inside had to unlatch the second door so that our stroller could fit. I think it would be difficult for someone who uses a wheelchair to access the bakery.

The staff is rude and it's a different issue every time. I've been charged $13 for a ham and cheese croissant because they didn't "have a button to ring it in properly." I've been given roast beef and told it was ham by another staff member saying "ham turns brown when you heat it up." I've witnessed gossip about customers at the register, arguments between staff while I'm waiting for my food and being told they don't have an item I'm looking directly at. Maybe it's the age of the staff members or the lack of overall experience, knowledge, consideration...pick one, but the service alone keeps me from coming back to this quaint, local bakery.

Still a winner but watch out because the price can sneak up on you if you order faster than you…read moreeat. Reservations made well in advance is a must unless you're going at less popular times. Unfortunately parking is always a challenge because of reserved parking so plan ahead and come early if I have a reservation. Lots of steps leading up into the building but there is a ramp for handicap access. Kids were in town so we were visiting all our favorite places. Blue Atlas tapas style variety is always a hit with us. The only disappointment this time was the Elote dumplings. They were basically just corn gnocchi. Not a terrible flavor, but wouldn't bother ordering again. We started with some pretty fun cocktails, and a highlighted wine which I wish I could remember the name of...i think it started with N...It was a light bodied wine with mild floral notes, and a Prosecco feel without the bubbly that went perfect with all the plates. For cocktails, we got tea ceremony, la Siesta, Nicolada. I loved la Siesta and Tea ceremony for their uniqueness and smooth delivery. My son has a sweet tooth for cocktails, which the Nicolada fit but probably a little too sweet for me. For food we got the ever reliable pork belly Bao buns -a bit on the pricey side when you have to order extra to serve a table of four at $6 each, Next the aforementioned elote dumplings, -tacos de trucha which was good but not my favorite, -hanger steak, -Malaysian fried chicken - delicious and a good deal, -shish Barak; unique, and very tasty, -Vietnamese prawn toast, which was delicious , - -steamed mussels- good and enjoyed by most, and the -tortilla Española; solid but underwhelming compared to everything else. Also ordered the Brie special with toast that I loved but some of us got part of the rind which there was a lot of so wasn't as enjoyable for them but the flavors were there. Would've liked a few more heavy protein options but this did not affect our enjoyment of the meal. The hanger steak exceeded my expectations. I'm not always up for steak, but this was done perfectly and well accompanied with a marinated summer squash, cherry tomatoes, and pickled peppers. For dessert we got the ice cream sandwich and the chocolate banoffee budino. They were all out of the Black Forest meringue, so unfortunately, we could not try that. The ice cream sandwiches were a hearty serving and enjoyed by everyone at the table, but I thought the banoffee budino was the best. Unique and very tasty. Would have ordered one to have by myself if I wasn't so full lol.

The seating is both indoors and outside, absolutely astonishing spots. The staff are friendly and chatty and quick with their services ! Absolutely a lovely spot for yummy coffee AND yummy food. Most places have either or- they have BOTH! Will be returning more than I'd like to admit hehe.

The vibe inside is…read moresuper warm and welcoming, especially if you want somewhere chill to read, work, or just hang out and talk for a bit. Seating is kind of limited, but luckily we were able to snag a table. I had fun checking out all the different book sections, but the banned book area was definitely the coolest part to me. I thought it was awesome that they give people the chance to explore those books so openly. I only got a cold brew, and it was okay. I wasn't a fan of their ice just cuz the shape just melts quicker and makes your drink watery fast. Aside from that, the service was really great. Everyone was super friendly and happy to help. The location is also really convenient if you're around the VCU Cary st area. Definitely a nice spot to relax for a while.

Upon entering, the books are found along the wall, there are tables and chairs to sit and the coffee is ordered at a counter right in the center of the store. Towards the back, they have a section just for kids and young adults. Also, there are plenty of parking outside. They have new and old books available at decent prices. One of the best things I have ever seen is they have a dedicated turning bookcase for BANNED books of Hanover county. It is a lending library. You choose a book, open it and scan the QR code inside and check off the book you picked. Then, you return it when you're done. No time limit on it. That easy. I am so proud that they are supporting these books and making it easy for anyone to have access to them. On this visit, I borrowed Jodi Picoult's book, Nineteen Minutes. I recommend you come visit and support this coffee/book shop in the VCU area. I definitely recommend it and plan to visit often.
