This place feels like home to me with lots of familiar items you don't typically find in Texas, as well as some things I've only had in good German restaurants. Always dealt with the courteous younger workers in the past. We drive from Sherman because the product has been good in the past and the drive is not too bad, offering us a chance to reminisce about a hunt on the way in to the processor. Deer hunting for my kids has always had an unspoken goal of driving to Fischer's after the hunt. Last night we brought a doe in at just after 7 PM and I called Steve Fischer - the first name listed on the list of phone numbers to call. I've never met Steve before last night, though I have heard about him. I've never in my life dealt with a more rude or patronizing individual. I sat there and watched him patronize and demean a 14-year-old kid because he obviously didn't want to get off of his azz and come check in this kid's deer. If you don't want to come up after hours, then don't put your name on the sign. I asked him if we were putting him out and that we don't aim to, or make a make a practice of such. After a smart azz and unprofessional response, I instructed my son to put his deer back in the truck and advised Steve we'd just go somewhere else. The relative positive is that I got to talk with my son for an hour about the value of his dollar, businesses who deserve it, and businesses that do not. I've referred a friend to Fischer's about a month ago who described a similar experience dealing with Steve at check-in. You've earned your last dollar from us bud.

Several years ago, I had my first muffuletta at a sandwich shop in Florida and I thought it was OK, but nothing special. I did not order one from Weinbergers the first several visits because of this and all the other choices we had. My wife and I finally decided to order one to split. The first bite that we took we just looked at each other wide eyed in amazement and said OMG. The reason I decided to write this review is because my wife just texted me and said she is craving a muffuletta. We will probably head there this weekend. We love this place!

Make sure you're prepared when you walk up to the counter-- I thought I was until the dude started rattling off "wet" or "dry" and the list of toppings. I threw up my hands and said "I'm an amateur, this is my first time here!" He slowed it down and walked me through ordering, lol. I went with the Italian beef, dry with the juice on the side. So yummy! I love that it came with a handful of crinkle chips as well. If I was local I'd eat here all the time! The inside is small with a handful of tables and a few extra outside. It was pretty packed on a Friday afternoon!

I got my order to go, and they were pretty quick getting my New Yorker out to me. The bathroom was clean, and the restaurant was quite big. Everyone seemed nice inside as well. It's really just your typical McAlister's. This isn't the fault of this location, but holy smokes those prices are outrageous. RIYL: The chain of McAlister's. They make soups and stuff

The dill pickle lemonade was surprisingly good! But... The reason we stopped coming was the shockingly minimal amount of meat on the sandwiches, and the high prices for meat that can't even cover the bread. It hasn't changed, I can't believe they are still in business, this is the same reason we stopped going to (the now closed) Schlotsky's). The amount of ham on those sandwiches seem to be ok, but... I order a 1/2 and 1/2 with a garlic steak and a "bbq" honey pork. The tiny slivers of meat that were there were not appealing at all, they were both the same odd color of grey, and again, couldn't even cover the bread. The flavor (like the meat) was almost non existent. I couldn't even tell which was which... I literally used about six napkins throughout the course of 2 sandwich halves?? What was leaking out? It wasn't water? As I longingly gazed out the window at Chick Fil A I lamented the loss of $35 for sandwiches and drinks for 2 people. So long McAllisters, you blew it for good this time.
