I was still a tad leery when I got on the boat (which was a pontoon boat, as it was going to be a little more stable per the captain). I felt bad cuz I know hubby really liked the older "antique" boat but he was happy as I made it through the tour without even feeling queasy. Huge win for us both! (and probably a win for the captain as well, lol) The tour was incredible - Captain Ed knew so much history of the islands and we feel that we got a better experience than the mass public tour boat that was going around with a the loud speaker. If ever in the area again, I would not hesitate to book again with Captain Ed!

After some research and review stalking, i llanded on Your Wave Tours. Alex was so kind and accommodating since our first call all thr way through to the end of the tour. His knowledge and personal touch during the ride was second to none. I absolutely will be contacting Alex again whenever we bring our kids next. It is a slow sightseeing hour tour that takes you up the St Lawrence River around the Boldt Castle on the U.S. border. The captain and mates were very friendly. There is tons of seating inside and outside on the ship. We went on the front for a great view and gentle cool winds. The kids had a wonderful time exploring and learning about the area. Hearing info about the 1000 was cool. The prices for the boat tours seems pretty affordable. There are washrooms onboard. Also, there was snacks and drinks have similar prices to concert and events food and drinks. For the 3 hour tour We took a morning tour. It was not very busy so there's a lot of space to move around. The most popular spot was the very front (bottom level). It's calm though it might be a little long for some. For the 5 hour tour: We took an afternoon/evening tour. Despite how busy it is, it was cool to visit and step foot on Boldt Island. Also, make sure you know which boat you were on as there will be multiple tour boats from other companies in the area. The Island and Castle were larger than I thought. The achitecture and interior were gorgeous and impressive. From what I remember, I think the gift shop accepts both currencies.

In particular, we wanted to go on the 2.5 Hour boat tour and loved the beauty, history and the locals enjoying the water too! The second portion was visiting the Famous Heart Island where George C. Boldt, millionaire proprietor of the world famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, set out to build a full size rhineland castle in Alexandria Bay, on picturesque Heart Island.  The grandiose structure was to be a display of his love for his wife, Louise. The structures on the island were amazing! I personally LOVE architecture and history so this was a fantastic experience! Had it been Pre-Covid times, we would have been able to disembark from the boat and explored the island, as the Americans were doing. But because it is technically on the American side of the St Lawrence River, and because of the pandemic, we could only admire it from afar. We can't wait for warmer weather so we can go back and visit!

I learned to order half orders quite quickly. We were able to drop off our luggage earlier in the day and when we finished the trip the luggage was unloaded as we left the gang plank. Taxis were ordered ahead for those who requested them. We did leave a nice review and tips, that were shared but it was done in a very private way and there was no pressure at all. The entertainment was very good and geared to the age of the clients as were the quiz sheets that were available each day. We joined in groups for games and this helps us meet lots of other cruisers. Our camping trip was horrible, the neighbors were terrible banging at 6 o'clock in the morning for…read morenothing, the site was a mud hole, bathrooms were disguising and unusable, no cell phone, campers left there dogs in their camper to bark for the day so they can go play, the water spikets to get water a camper had hoses hooked to it, we left 2 1/2 half days earlier and loss money. What a huge disappointment that was.
