Yesterday I experienced racism and my partner got upset which led into an unpleasant experience just because a white female felt entitled to complain to the captain about being uncomfortable.She was the one who approached me . She need to make content. .... Seriously ok I moved aside and allow her to do whatever she needed to do. However it wasn't enough!!! She came Again with a more aggressive tone you're in my space ... lol... there's no assigned seats however their belongings were there so I respected that and moved behind them. Clearly no one was in those seats that's why ,me as an individual went over to have a better view . our tour guide pointed out everything on the left were the attractions were So here I'm enjoying my tour when this lady ...lack of better choices of words comes over and starts to say you're in my place. No honey I'm not!! I moved just to avoid confrontation being she was already rude and disrespectful!!! My guy overheard this encounter and became annoyed. She then stomped off all huffing and puffing goes to the captain . He comes over and without and conversation threatens turn the boat around and kick us out . Like dude being a responsible individual you're going to have a conversation based on both side!!! But noooo you're as racist as this blond 2ft 1" racist troll Well it was definitely a one sided encounter for sure!! It was pretty sad that I told the crew members look at the video and go from there. The fact that the captain never asked what transpired says a lot about his mannerisms also. He and his reflective piece of cheap sunglasses didn't choose to adhere to both sides of situations . Sad but true!! We did the sunset dinner cruise this past weekend and were really impressed. The ambiance was so nice with the live music, string lights on the top deck at night, and the beautiful views of Boldt castle and the sunset. The dinner was turkey, ham, veggie lasagna, mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, stuffing, and rolls. It tasted decent, but it wasn't very warm when it was served. The cheesecake served for dessert exceeded expectations. We had an absolute blast hanging out with our friends and enjoying the drinks and views after dinner. If in the 1000 Island region, the Uncle Sam's Boat Tours is a must do. That along with a stop at Boldt Castle (separate review) makes for a perfect way to enjoy 1000 Island. They have many different tours available. We chose the 2 1/4 hour 2 Nation Tour. After a fun and informative tour of the 1000 island area, it makes a stop at Boldt Castle, where you can get off and tour the castle. Most of their tour boats stop here, and you can board any of them for your trip back to shore. The boat that we were on had 3 decks. We spent some time on the middle deck while it was sprinkling, but them moved to the top deck to enjoy most of the tour. Some of the homes and islands toured are just breathtaking. Just a spectacular view all around. There was a small bar with limited reasonable priced drink and limited snacks. You also could get a buffet lunch but we chose to see beforehand and just enjoy the cruise. Our trip back from Boldt was quick. This tour company has been around for almost 100 years. They are the official boat tour for the Thousand Islands - a collection of over 1,000 islands that are filled with trees, rocks, houses, and even castles. The Thousand Islands themselves are beautiful and are definitely worth a visit. As for Uncle Sam Boat Tours, I thought it was decent but nothing too exciting. The boats themselves are fairly old and the tour guide did not talk too much and was a bit boring. It is better to just sit back and enjoy the views. We had a great time! We did two separate tours on two separate days...the two countries tour (w/Boldt castle) & the Singer castle tour. The boat rides were both quite informative & the scenery is beautiful. We enjoyed indoor seating and while the boats are a bit older & not exactly squeaky clean, they are comfortable and serve the purpose. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend taking the tours. The only tiny drawback is that boarding was pretty unorganized and chaotic both days. Also, the snack bar food options ran out pretty quickly on the two countries tour. read more

Then we stopped at Boldt Castle and took a tour.. but most important our tour guide Reagan did an outstanding job. He was funny. And his words were articulate. After arriving in the Alexandria Bay Area, we checked out some tour boats to see which one sounded the best. Our hotel recommended Uncle Sam's so that's where we went. We chose the 2 1/2 hour tour with a stop at Boldt Castle. We could purchase the Castle tickets at the same time. The cruise was excellent, River was calm, the tour guide was very good. Now I have been going on Uncle Sam tours ever since I was little. The thousand islands were a favorite vacation spot for my family. This was by far the worst tour I had been on. We opted to take the two nation tour. I have been on this tour dozen of times thru my lifetime. We were taking our son for the first time and he loves history and learning so we thought this was perfect. What I expected were facts about the area. Stories of long time ago, what people came before us, who lived on the islands, things that were invented from the area etc. i expect to walk away with more knowledge of what makes the area unique. what we got was a brief story of millionaires row a few random facts.. three breaks of the speaker.. one five min break, one fifteen and another 10. So basically we had a few facts and brushed over history and boat ride. Personally it felt like a waste of money. We would have been better off with the one hour tour. read more

We enjoyed our two hour Two Nations boat tour to Boldt Castle. They offer drinks, popcorn, and hot pretzels. Our boat had three floors with ample seating. The tour guide gave a great tour and said she was from the area which was nice. The boat ride was smooth. We saw a cool speed boat poker run while onboard. Toilets are available on the boat. Millionaire Row: 5 star - this was an hour long tour that was voice guided. (I normally do not like voice guided tours but this one had the humor, sarcasm and interesting facts to it) . Dependable, fast trip to Boldt castle and we were able to buy tickets for the castle at the same time. They circle through ever 30 minutes which is nice, no long waits to go back to Alex bay. Ride from Boldt was better on a bigger boat but the ride there we took the very first trip out that morning. Bathroom was closed on the ride back but we didn't do any boat tours so no biggie. read more

We were in town for a couple of days and went on their "2 nations" tour which takes you through a good portion of the 1000 Islands area in both US & Canadian waters. Much of it is guided where details about the region and islands are explained, which was informative. The boats aren't new (at least not the ones we were on), but the staff was very friendly and helpful and they seem to cater to their clients. The onboard snack bar was very reasonably priced, even cheap, I would say. You can get a hot dog, pretzel, popcorn, soda, beer, or wine all at a value. They're departures seem like general times instead of hard and fast times. We also found that the email with directions stated that you "must" arrive 30 minutes ahead, but we only boarded a few minutes before our slightly late departure. It would have been nice to show up nearer the departure time, but perhaps when they are in their peak busy season they very well might need all 30 minutes to load up and depart. Either way it was a fun tour that we both enjoyed and thought was a reasonable price for the time spent on the water and tour details. read more

The boat tour was so much fun. We went in September. It was a perfect day, warm, not crowded at all and cheap. The ride was smooth, the tour guides knew what they were talking about and it was a nice long tour. We went on the tour that takes you through Millionaires' Row in America & Canada and then drops you at Boldt Castle. We didn't go to the castle that time but we've been before and it really is spectacular. Growing up, if I wasn't in Lake Placid I was in Cape Vincent at my camp along the St. Lawrence River and it was so nice to go back to A-Bay and Clayton and Cape Vincent relive childhood memories and to do the boat tour. read more

We missed the 2 o'clock tour by five minutes. When we were speaking with the girl at the ticket booth she had a couldn't care less attitude. We ended up just taking the ferry over to Boldt Castle. The crew the ferry boat was very nice unfriendly. Personally I didn't like that they had a tip jar out. I feel like if they're just faring you to and from an island at nine bucks a pop they are to be making enough money they don't need tips. We went on the new American Narrows tour. The boat was very clean and social distancing was enforced. The tour lasted a little over two hours and was very informative. All of the staff were very personable. I do wish that they would provide shade for the parking lot attendants because it was over 90° and they were standing there all day in the blazing sun. This tour company offers several different options for boat cruises along the St. Lawrence River. I chose the two-nation tour, and staying out on the river for two hours turned out to be the perfect dose of water for me. Despite the early June chill (it was still considered off season up in this part of Northwestern NY!), I opted to sit on the top level. Many others did as well. Doing so provided great views of all the islands. We didn't pass a thousand islands, but we sure did pass our money's worth! It was amazing to see all these itty-bitty islands with elaborate houses and other structures built right on them! Deer Island was also neat to see. Crossing the water border was fun to me. I took a screenshot on my iPhone when the tour guide encouraged us to take photos of the water. Bet he didn't think of *that*! Much more memorable! ... (I, too, took a photo of the water. It looked like water. I might not recommend that as much.) At the end of the tour, after you've heard an appropriate amount of silly-lame jokes and have passed by many rando-islands and a pretty bridge, you have the option of being dropped off at Boldt Castle. You'll have to pay a nominal fee to tour the castle, but oh well -- just do it! I would hope that's on your agenda. Also to note: Tour guides might try to sell you a book on commission. I bought a picture book. It's very pretty and was worth the $10 to me! read more

We went on the two nations tour in which the boat takes you through Millionaires' Row in both America and Canada and then drops you off at Boldt Castle if you choose to exit the vessel. They offer fairly interesting tidbits about Saint Lawrence River and everything pertaining to it and around it. Pros: the boat was clean and felt sturdy, the guide offered interesting facts and the overall ambiance of the tour was enjoyable. Also, they let kids steer the boat when you hit Canada, but that doesn't mean adults can't partake in the excursion! Cons: the fluidity of the tour was disrupted by the guide's inability to refrain from stumbling over her monotone words. She was friendly enough and did a Hell of a good job keeping all the kids in line since Lord knows the parents weren't. However, she continuously forgot lines, corrected herself, and when telling jokes, didn't change her tone so it sounded like she was reciting a script. Because of this, no one knew it was a joke resulting in only her laughing. The advertising of overpriced sunglasses and picture books was also pretty cringeworthy. This was our second time on the Uncle Sam Boat Tour, our last time going in September 2017. Despite our mediocre time today, I wouldn't hesitate to go again as I think it is awesome that we get to go to Canada during our tour. The boat is always a comfy ride and you learn tons of facts but to improve the tour it may be wise to cut this tour down to an hour and a half as two hours is a little long to just be looking at expensive homes. Also, it may be wise to find better spoken and charismatic tour guides to improve the experience. read more

Captain Molly(?) is ride. And she is paid for being a customer service representative. Stood with her for five minutes, trying to get information about where to catch our boat and she refused to look at us and was so intentionally unhelpful that I figured we were in the wrong place entirely by the end of the conversation. If you can call it a conversation. Never got eye contact and for some reason couldn't get a straight answer to my very simple questions. I'm guessing she is the owner by her air of superiority, but then what kind of owner would be so horrible to guests. read more

Do choose Uncle Sam Boat Tours!! I was very impressed with Uncle Sam Boat Tours! My family and I did the Fourth of July boat tour, and WOW it was amazing! At first, I was concerned because the line was VERY long, but the company handled the crowd very well! They kept the line moving and everyone got the seats they paid for and were loaded on smoothly! It definitely helped that the staff was very friendly, helpful, and professional. To top off this amazing evening, the boat was handled very smoothly. I'm someone who gets seasick very easily, and I could hardly tell we were moving! I applaud the captain of the boat I was on because there were so many other boats to avoid, and he and the staff handled the situation with ease and grace. Overall it was a very relaxing and beautiful tour. I highly recommend Uncle Sam's for boat tours on the St. Lawrence River! *Edit:* Although I am still overall satisfied with USBT, I took off a star because it is very confusing to find which boat to board for people who bought tickets online.
