What a fantastic way to see the Rockport area, explore the shoreline and hear some area history. We were able to dock on Straitsmouth island and climb up the lighthouse which was a welcome surprise for our family. I highly recommend the tour. You must be comfortable in water, but kayaking is fairly easy to pickup. My 14 year olds who have very little experience had a blast with no issues navigating the water. We never felt worried about our safety as Dan was vigilant with our group's well being.

We took two sails across our extended family and everyone had a fantastic time from teens to toddlers and the adults too. They kept everyone safe while also allowing even the youngest "crew" to have turns sailing. They were happy to share info about sailing and Gloucester or just let everyone relax and chat on our own. Their 36' Catalina is a perfect cruising boat- lots of space to sit for up to 6 guests and a cabin with a "head" (restroom) just in case. We will definitely be back soon for more sails!

Summer break trip to Boston and of course we had to try the tall ship cruise by the Boston harbor…read more This is a 1.5 hours time cruising out into the harbor...passing the airport, terminal, Castle Island, and around the Spectacle Island. We went for the late afternoon time slot because it rained a little bit in the morning. Luckily no more rain in late afternoon and while the weather was cool and cloudy, we still enjoyed the ride. Nice view and relaxing. Our boat wasn't packed with people so I think that also made a difference where folks were spread out sitting around the tall ship. The captain and 2 crews were professional and friendly. They offered a complimentary drink if you would like one. Note that this is not a historical tour. But if you want a relaxing ride to enjoy the harbor view, give them a try.

Had such a fun day with Captain Ted aboard the Reel Thrills Too. We had a last minute booking for a…read more3 hour tour...a threeeee hour tour (Sorry, I couldn't resist). He fit us in on an early morning excursion and we couldn't have asked for a better time. The weather was perfect and Capt Ted was like your favorite Uncle, great with the kids, full of funny jokes and interesting facts as we boated around the Essex River and Cape Ann. The boat is no frills but has a private bathroom down below with some seating and one comfy rotating chair up top. Be prepared to stand or sit on your cooler that you should bring. The cooler with food & drinks is the only thing you need to bring. He supplies the fishing stuff (poles, bait, etc) I would suggest you bring your own life vests if you have them. Kids must wear them at all times. At our first stop, my son caught a gigantic fish! Sadly that was the only one of the day. Capt Ted was kind enough to filet it for us. We took it home and grilled it and it was delicious! We also checked 2 lobster traps but no lobsters, in there (boo!) but we saw some cool looking crabs and horseshoe crabs. Parking isn't great as you have to drop your stuff off at the boat ramp behind some apartments and then park down the street.

I am 6 months pregnant and wanted to surprise my partner with a fishing trip for his 40th birthday. He's always wanted to learn but anytime he'd been on the big water adventure trips it's been all thrill and no lessons. I reached out to Agawam based on a recommendation from another captain. Ted, the captain and owner, contacted me immediately and assured me that we would have a fun, educational, relaxing and beautiful day on the river. He did not disappoint! Ted is incredibly knowledgeable of the area and its deep history. He played wonderful music and taught us how to fish! By then end I might have even been more hooked than my hubs. And yes, we caught a big one! What was most surprising was the stunning terrain. I never expected a river to look like that. Gorgeous marshes, birds and fish everywhere, sandbars and beaches....I cannot wait to go back and bring my 9 year old.
