Hands down my favorite place to come have some good wine and great conversation. John is the most gracious host - always makes us feel like we have come home. My favorite from Rocky Creek is his Zinfandel- I think it's 2018. Very reasonable prices for some really amazing wine.

$5 Wine Tasting For 4 Wines

Rocky Creek Cellars has a dog friendly tasting room and wine tasting is $5 for 4 wines (all red on my past visit). I came by this winery last Sunday afternoon with my husband and little girl dog. There was one party of 3 already in the tasting room, so pretty quiet for the most part. The girl behind the counter greeted us and started us on our wine tasting. Unfortunately I did not like any of the wines but I do have to say that I was surprised that their red wines were not as acidic as other reds that I have had. My husband did like the cabernet (he usually likes cabs in general). We did get a chance to try the ruby red dessert wine even though it was not part of the tasting. The only reason why was because after an older couple came in for a tasting, the girl behind the counter had offered it to them (and because we were next to them, she offered it to us too. But I don't think she would have offered it to us if the couple was not there). I truly LOVE dessert wines but did not like this one at all. It didn't have the same sweetness that I was expecting from a dessert wine. The tasting room is rather on the small side. There is a couch to sit on and lay out if there is little space left at the counter. You are also welcomed to walk around outside (a great patch of grass right outside of the tasting room for pets to relieve themselves (and their humans to get some fresh air). The girl hostessing our tasting told us that the owner (John) made all of the tables in the tasting room. They are really a work of art. There is a unisex restroom behind the counter and was clean upon this visit. Service was not overly friendly but relaxed. Also was not overly attentive but wasn't a big deal to me. Overall, our experience was A-Okay, thus the 3 star rating. By the way, the only food served here is complementary crackers and Hershey chocolate kisses available for nibbling.

My wife and I have been visiting Paso for over 20 years. After driving past on 46 West many times We finally decided to stop in and taste at Rocky Creek. What a wonderful experience. The wines are aged longer than most wineries and all were great. John, the talented winemaker was super friendly, funny and had many amazing stories. We felt like family when leaving. I'd highly recommend visiting RCC.

Thanks for the apples!" We loved hearing about the wine intertwined with stories that John shared.

The place is very busy. We opted for a wine tasting with lunch. They offered 5 wines and proper tasting pours. When we were seated, water was quickly served and we ordered their House-made Sourdough Focaccia which was served with lavender butter and lavender salt. That was very tasty - the lavender butter and salt worked well with the bread. My wife ordered the Duck Confit and I ordered the Bucatini Pasta which featured Mighty Cap Mushrooms. The sauce was very rich and flavorful. The pasta was cooked properly, and the mushrooms were just so good. The Duck Confit was similar - the duck leg was cooked properly, and worked great with the Heirloom tomatos and plum, all of which sat on a wild rice salad. You can skip the wine tasting and order drinks or wine off the menu if you want. Take a moment to walk around the grounds, look up at the ceiling work. They have have a shop with some neat winery stuff. Staff and service were excellent, and the menu and the food were outstanding!

They do not offer complimentary bread service. Bread is on the menu - House made sourdough focaccia with lavender butter. It was so good, totally worth the price. Slight crisp on the outside, spongy interior, but chewy from the sourdough gluten. Hint of sweet in the background. Butter is light and aromatic. This amazing dish is just the bread. Roasted Chicken was tender with a light sauce. Pasta with mushroom sounds simple but it was yummy and perfect. For wine tasting, they offered a complimentary welcome taste of Pino Rose, light and refreshing. The tasting had 4 wines, my favorite was the 2022 Reserve Chardonnay. It was buttery and smooth. The building, scenery of the vineyard hills, and the flower garden were all beautiful.

But alas, we finally made it happen, and we had such a great experience. The tasting room is beautiful and grand, it was so cool to hear about the building and how it was restored. Tastings are by appointment, which you can book and schedule online. When you arrive the gate is closed and you buzz in to let them know you're there, so I probably wouldn't try to just walk in. As we approached the tasting room someone met us outside with our first taste of wine, such a nice touch. We sat inside at one of the comfortable couch settings, but they also had bar seating and bigger tables larger groups. You are also able to take your wine outside and explore a little bit, which we did. We noticed other groups with dogs, so they are dog friendly even inside! We were helped by Taylor who led us through the tasting, which was already set up and ready to go at the table when we arrived. Even though the wines were all out, she stopped in as we worked our way through them to talk about them a bit more. Including the welcome pour when we arrive, the tasting menu had 2 whites and 3 reds when we were in. We ended up trying a couple other wines that weren't in the tasting, and ended up getting bottles of the sensibility from the menu and a zin that was and off menu pour. Would absolutely come back here for an elevated and sophisticated wine experience that doesn't feel stuffy at all.

The tasting room was named one the top #19 wineries in Architectural Digest (August 2018) in the WORLD! And #2 of the top #19. Now that's amazing and well deserved! Lacey was our tasting room host and she was wonderful! She knew all the history and well described the wines. She didn't rush us and encouraged us to relax, wander around, and enjoy the tastes. We were on the fence about one of the wines, and she offered us an older vintage so we would know how it would taste in 10 years! That worked! We were very impressed with their wines and they definitely sell themselves! The inside is very roomy and comfortable. There is also seating with nice views, should you want to relax outside. Definitely have added Epoch to our list of wines to buy and places to visit for future Paso trips!
