The staff is also incredibly friendly and makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The patio is a beautiful spot to taste, and if you're there later in the day, the sunset views are hard to beat. Definitely do the free cave tour while you're there. It's one of the coolest winery tours I've been on. The caves are a massive labyrinth carved into the hillside and naturally stay around 55 degrees year round, which is where they age a lot of their wine before bottling. Even if you've been to a lot of wineries, this is something a little different. At the time I'm writing this, tastings are still complimentary, which is almost unheard of these days. If you go, do them a favor and leave with a bottle or two. That's how places like this are able to keep offering experiences like this, and honestly, you'll probably want to take some wine home anyway.

Since it's more of boutique, the bottles are quite pricey, mostly ranging near the 100s. But it was our favorite the whole weekend we went there. And we bought 6 bottles. We loved the spell and got 3 bottles of that! It's a Syrah cab blend. Has the Paso flavor that we love. It's not a vineyard, just a tasting room but worth a visit. We met the wine maker too. For example, the bathroom wasn't well constructed as when people slammed the door shut, the walls shook. I can't imagine how the walls would shake if someone had a blowout here. Even with some of the downfalls, this was my favorite winery and I wish I could get some of the wines without joining the club. We are the type of members who always take great care of the staff and rarely leave without purchasing extra bottles, yet today we were treated like an inconvenience. ​Despite being told in the past that spontaneous visits were no problem for members, we were turned away on a gloomy Monday with plenty of open tables. The host at the entrance was incredibly dismissive and wouldn't even let us finish our sentence before cutting us off. We were told our only options were to come back in an hour, a "limited" tasting, drive all the way downtown, or just pick up our shipment and leave. ​We asked for the Wine Club Manager to resolve the situation, but she wasn't on-site. To be offered a "partial" tasting as a favor after nearly ten years of support was the final straw. It feels as though they now prioritize "closing" new members over honoring the people who have supported them for years. They've gone mainstream and lost the personal touch that made them special.

We heard there are different menus depending on the day, which is a nice touch. Our server greeted us quickly, brought water right away, and got our first tasting to us fast. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and did an excellent job explaining each one. Since we were in a bit of a hurry to catch a flight, she kindly brought all of our tastings out at once, clearly labeled, walked us through them, and let us enjoy at our own pace. The 1954 Jeep tour took us throughout the vineyard where we saw the vines up close and so many deer. Brian educated us on the wine process. He walked us through the family history as well as the history of the vineyard. Wines were great! We bought several bottles of The Crash wine. There's a good story that goes with that name and no - it's not about the Jeep. Outside the tasting room is a nice covered patio. This was our last and one of our best stops in Paso.

The tasting is done standing at the bar but it is a very generous tasting where you can try up to 8 wines for $25, and the tasting fee is waived if you buy a bottle that costs at least $25. Thankfully, their wines were excellent and I ended up buying several to take home with me. The most expensive one was about $48, so the tasting fees were easily waived. They also have a wine club and it is an excellent deal, and they ship all over the country!

A few others had 10a tastings as well. Jessie handled all of my samples and she was delightful and explained each of the wines to me. It was my second favorite as far as wines I sampled on my trip, and the first was a high bar for them to beat. The grounds were beautiful and they had a beautiful outdoor space for sitting and sampling. It was a chilly morning though, so I stayed inside to enjoy my wines and the descriptions. I would have bought a bottle, but I was flying and didn't know if I'd buy any more at other places. I wish shipping was more cost effective too. Oh well...
