I think most of the wineries we've tried at Paso Robles have been recommended by friends. Tablas is one of them and we wished we would've known about them sooner; we truly loved it! Even though we didn't have a reservation and they were super busy, they were happy to accommodate us. The gentleman pouring our wine was incredibly knowledgeable and I was surprised to know how long they've been around, hence, my previous statement wondering why we didn't find it sooner. The winery is beautiful with lots of outdoor seating. The service is wonderful and the wine delicious and did I mention organic? Yes it's true! What a beautiful winery! It's far from town, but where all the big wineries are. Make reservations on online, and it's prepay but they reimburse you once you show up. We did the full red tasting. They had a lot of Rhône style blends, like GSM style. Wines were more affordable then a boutique winery. We like GSMs. The wines are on the lighter and tart side, pairs well with like pasta or Italian food. I don't know if they serve food but I wish they did. We sat on the patio, it was such a beautiful day. Kid friendly as the grounds are big. They have 2 electric car charger (one Tesla and one general one) however just one parking space, so if a non Tesla was using it, you can't use the Tesla one. Oooooo my favorite winery in Paso Robles so far!! I loooove a good dry white and they had some really good ones. The location was stunning and we enjoyed the shade and the table outdoors. I ended up with a case of wine and on the wine club haha but I really loved most of the wines I tasted. I enjoyed our sommelier and the pacing is nice and slow as many other wineries. No idea about prices I was just splurging (whoops). I really loved this winery and the wines, and I would hope to get a chance to return someday. For now I may just enjoy the wine club HEE HEE! read more

Came to Tablas Creek on a warm weekend during Memorial day. It was a busy time! They have a nice setup with some umbrellas and some coolers. Be aware that it is much warmer up at Tablas Creek than some other wineries in Paso. The wine was very good, and prices for bottles were all reasonable. Our friends became wine club members on the trip, so i'm sure that we will be back again in the future. Our server was a nice guy and very knowledgeable about their wines. They are mostly all Rhone varietals, and were pleasant. We had our kids with us, and it was not a problem. There was a slight bit of attitude with the hostess, who gave us a hard time for having 2 reservations. Even though I had emailed and texted them about this prior to arrival, she still made a comment of "you need to tell us next time if you have 2 reservations." I had known this and previously went out of my way to let them know. Regardless, they were accommodating, but didn't seem too happy about it. I'm not sure what else I could have done in advance (besides just not going with a group of 4 adults and 3 kids). My party of 6 couldn't make a reservation, they were full...but we were told there were tables that could be available. We were also told we could not do a tasting, but could order a glass or bottle. We proceeded to go, because we were told it was a very nice experience. We walked into the store and wine counter to order something, and we all chose glasses. I tasted a couple, and went with the ESPRIT DE TABLAS 2022 40% Mourvedre, 28% Grenache Nair, 22% Syrah, 4% Vaccarese, 3% Counoise, 3% Cinsa -- it was delicious and a generous pour, $20. We walked past half empty tables in the covered patio with awesome misters, 2 lower courtyard areas with umbrellas and portable AC units, and on the other side of the road, there were 4 hot tables...luckily now in the shade. Although we were happy to be together and enjoyed our wine, it bugged us because the seating in the comfy areas were aplenty. We felt like the ugly stepchildren. I'll go back, but with reservation for sure. read more

One of the best parts of this winery is getting there, driving along Vineyard Drive from the south. Canopies of oaks, rolling hills, just stunning. The tasting area, by reservation, is quite nice. Luckily we had excellent weather and didn't have to deal with heat. It was very comfortable. Tastings here are $25. The tastings were done differently than I've experienced elsewhere. Our friendly host brought out three-glass racks for each person, the first three on the tasting itinerary. We had three flights to choose from, so lots of wines to explain. When we were done with those, another three came out, one of them being a bonus tasting not on the list. By the end we had 42 empty wine glasses on the table. We bought a few bottles there, and really enjoyed the educational aspect of the tasting experience. They have lots of white wines, more so than others in the area. The reds are of the lighter Rhone style blends, so keep that in mind if you are seeking the bigger, bolder reds. As a bonus, they have an EV charging spot that slightly reduced my range anxiety. If you can, ask to see their giant barrels inside. They are truly a sight, and smell great. read more

Tablas Creek Vineyards is a lovely winery with beautiful grounds and very good service but unfortunately their wines just aren't for me. Chose to visit in a big group with children present; one member of our group prefers white wines and doesn't usually enjoy reds, so I picked Tablas Creek with her in mind. A huge pro: They're very child and dog friendly. The kids were given crayons and coloring pages. We were there on a very hot day and the dog/child friendly tastings are all done outside but they have very effective fans, lots of shade, and cold water which made the temperature easily tolerable. Another thing I really liked is that they give you the option of three different tastings based on your preferences. Such a great option when you're visiting with many people! Between our group we did the summer tasting and all red tasting. For me, the reds weren't bold enough and we left without buying any bottles. read more

Classic Flight and Red Flight: $25/tasting for 5 pours (fee waived with two bottle purchase). Tablas Creek is a must visit when experiencing the Paso Robles wine region. This was our second visit, and we had a fantastic time on both occasions. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, and provide an energetic tasting experience. The property has both head trained and trellis vineyards, and includes a beautiful, terraced patio to sit out on and enjoy your wine selections. Inside, you can see their super, large barrels called "foudres", which hold 1,200 gallons. NOTE: They do have several EV charging stations in the parking area. WINES: Their wines are made in a classic French "Rhône" style and defy my usual heavier mouth feel palate. We shared a Classic and Red tasting flight. The white wines are crisp, smooth, and delicious. The Esprit de Tablas Blanc is based on Roussanne, with additions of Grenache Blanc and Picpoul varietals...definitely a favorite! The Esprit de Tablas is based on Mourvèdre, with additions of Grenache, Syrah, and Counoise varietals. I haven't met anyone yet who doesn't love Tablas Creek and their wines. We were visiting Paso Robles over Christmas and finally had a break in the storm and went out to do some wine tasting. We had originally had a reservation elsewhere but after visiting Niner and the suggestion of our server there we decided to book a reservation at Tablas Creek instead. The location is beautiful and we love the biodynamic and organic component of the properties story. Due to the weather we sat inside, but the outside space looked really beautiful. We sat at the bar and our server was very knowledgable and friendly, but also never overstayed his welcome. We did two different tastings so we could try a variety and they have a broad spectrum of wines to choose from. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience and we'd recommend visiting Tablas Creek if you are in the area. read more

Beautiful winery with wonderful customer service and hospitality. The whole experience felt very upscale, without feeling snooty. They had 3 different tasting menu options, a classic, summer, and red only flight. We opted to share the red and summer flights so that we could try as many different wines as possible. We let Sandy, our wine tender, know we intended on sharing and she was kind enough to bring the flights out one at a time so that the reds weren't sitting in the sun as we worked our way there. We were also lucky enough to get an off menu pour of the mouvedre to compare it on it's own vs in a blend. Always fun when a winery lets you try something like that! Sandy was great, knowledgeable about the wine and winery, and fun to chat with. We had a Friday afternoon reservation for an outside tasting. There were a few other parties but the way the tables were spaced you felt like you had your own private area. Ended up going home with 3 bottles between two of us! read more

Tablas offers 3 tasting options: reds, whites and mixed. This is very helpful when there are some in your party that don't like reds. I also appreciate that they bring three wines at a time which allows one to do a little side by side comparison. We were visiting the area and wanted to taste some wine and I'm so glad we chose Tablas Creek. When I booked my tasting reservation, I saw that there was a free daily vineyard tour and it sounded great. Heidi was our guide and she took four of us out in the vineyard and taught us so much about the sustainability and the history of the place. She knew about every aspect of the process and it was fascinating to understand how they work with the local ecosystem to create amazing wines. Since we were there during harvest we got to see some grapes coming in and everyone working was so friendly and generous with their time. We loved the place and everything about it. I did the red only flights and the wines were great. It was really interesting to try two different vintages of the flagship wine and taste the differences. We took home a 2018 Esprit and shared it on our anniversary. A great start to our trip! read more

Tablas Creek was the 4th tasting I did during my 4th of July weekend in Paso Robles and 4th tasting I've done ever. I'm glad we saved it for last because they do it differently. This isn't a bad thing, but if you're newer to wine, I'd suggest starting at one of the other wineries where you get more of a guided experience with one or two wines at a time before stopping here. BUT I DO SUGGEST STOPPING HERE (make a reservation). There were high top tables at Tablas where I believe the experience was, in fact, more guided, but if you were seated at the regular tables, you received your entire flight at once. THIS WAS NOT A BAD EXPERIENCE, In fact, it was still a fun and thorough tasting - it was just different. Stephanie did an amazing job introducing the wines in our tasting, walking us through each one before leaving us alone to experience them ourselves. She then checked on us several times to answer questions and talk about the experience. The customer service was excellent overall. The main differentiator between Tablas creek and other wineries Is the fact that they're organic and in basically every way - the wine making, the treatment of their employees, livestock - everything, and you really feel that in the atmosphere and when tasting the wine. I had a hard time picking just 2 reds to walk away with (by this tasting, I had already spent a small fortune on wines) because they were all delicious - so much so that my friend walked out with a wine membership. It really does make you feel like you're supporting something beautiful. The only drawback was that the July heat made it impossible for us to experience the view from their gorgeous patio. I understand there were no tasting tables available due to prior bookings, but she didn't even welcome us in to enjoy a regular glass of wine. It felt cold and uninviting. Love this tasting room experience! I did the walking tour with my husband. It was insightful get a look behind the scenes and learn more about what makes their wines unique. Many of the wines being served on tap from reusable kegs was a first for us. We think it's incredibly innovative and the wines certainly tasted amazingly fresh. Tablas Creek is often at the top of the recommendation list. They were the first to really establish the Rhône varietals in California. We enjoyed learning a lot about what this movement looked like when establishing in Paso and pioneering these varietals on the west coast. Besides that, Tablas Creek is fascinating because of their regenerative organic process. They are a highly sustainable winery! My husband and I each enjoyed a tasting. It started with a reusable water bottle to drink from. Gotta stay hydrated when tasting! We went with one all red and one mix. We were compelled to buy a few bottles to take home! Really nice locale with outdoor seating. This was our first time here and our waitress really did a good job explaining the history of the vineyard and about how the vines are grown organically. We tried one classic flight and one all red flight. Flights are $25 for 5 pours and waived if you buy 2 bottles. I liked the classic because you get a chance to try the white wines also which I tend to like. They have lots of heaters near the table if it's a bit of a cold day. Finally, my girlfriends and I get away and the first thing we book is wine tastings at Tablas Creek, considered the cream of the crop in Paso Robles, by other wineries. First our expectations were high when I made the reservations. The team answering the phones were professional and so helpful. Even we I called to say we were going to be five minutes late, the young woman on the phone thanked me for calling. We were only two minutes late. We were seated by a very polite young man at beautiful terrace. Things looked so promising. Then we met Terrance. He spoke to us as if we were idiots and we had not a clue about wines. Terrance, many of us has been to France just a few months earlier and there they teach you about the wines. We learned nothing about what distinguishes Tablas Creek from the rest. Terrance brought out the first three wine tasting. "Left to right just as it is on the sheet in front of you." Terrance left, we thought he was coming back to discuss the profiles of the wines. We got crickets. We did not know if we were supposed to drink or wait for him to come back. Terrance came back with three more glasses for each of us. "Oh you didn't finish. Here are your next samples. Last on your right is a Reserve on the other side." That deserved a big "HUM", from us. Next we saw Terrance when he wanted us to follow him inside to pay. Neck-and-neck with Niner as my favorite winery in the area. I appreciate that they let you bring your own food to picnic with and are extremely dog friendly. Even when busy, the staff take their time and care to explain the different wines to you and are quite knowledgeable to make recommendations after discussing your likes and dislikes. I like how distanced the tables are on the outdoor patio - not just because of covid, but to comfortably have a conversation within your party without it feeling too noisy from other tables. I do wish there was a better view from the patio, of the vineyard and not just the road. If you intend to visit on a weekend, be sure to make the reservation at least seven to ten days out. If you will be coming on a weekday, I was able to make a reservation the week of/a few days before. They were really forgiving when I mixed up my dates and had to change! read more
