My spouse had been waiting several months for a much needed ear surgery. The procedure was finally scheduled on August 19, 2025 and we prepared for the day--arranging time off from work, following all pre-op instructions and arriving on time. When we got to the facility, we were told that the scrub tech had called in, and because of that the surgery was simply cancelled. No backup plan, no alternative offered, just cancelled. Staffing shortages happen, but a surgical center should have protocols in place to ensure patients do not lose their long awaited procedures at the last minute. I hope that this review encourages the facility to take patient scheduling and preparation more seriously, and to provide reliable contingency planning so others do not have to go through the same experience. read more

The RMSC center is so thorough down to each detail, coordinating with my Primary Care physician, pharmacy, and day of preparations as well as post op needs. Worst medical office staff ever! Rude, incompetent and unreliable. They close from 11-1 everyday because "they have to have lunch", what professional closes down for 2hours everyday while leaving their office unlocked with access to drugs and medical records for anyone to grab? I had coordinate the calling in of SUTAB three times and even the pharmacy had issues with them! I had to reschedule my colonoscopy twice because they couldn't call in a simple prescription and then said it was my issue. Then they rescheduled my procedure after I drove all the way to Denver, fasted and prepped all to be told they scheduled for the following week which made zero sense since I don't forgot dates and this one was on my calendar. Dr. Bennett seemed ok but his judgment in staff is sketchy at best. read more

The facility waiting area was clean and open with good spacing and beverages, the check-in process was efficient and on schedule. I never thought I would be reviewing a surgery center, but I cannot miss the opportunity to share this wonderful experience. Did I say wonderful? Well, there are many situations in life to be faced which we really don't have choices and it is wonderful when we just get it done without surprises. It was about four weeks ago when I had scheduled a minor procedure, an open surgery for hernia repair. I was at the surgery center at 07:30am and promptly checked in. In five minutes all paper work was done and it was explained what would be the next step. All people I had contact with; from the lady on the front desk, nurse to the anesthesiologist, all very kind people. All of them helped me to feel comfortable and confident to the treatment I was receiving. I was quite impressed with the professionalism, attentive care, and cleanliness at Rocky Mountain Surgery Center. Beside all that, the right next day I received a call from them to check how I was feeling after my procedure. I have to say I really like that, the same treatment I usually have from my dentist. read more

I had knee surgery at the Rocky Mountain Surgery Center one week ago and was SO impressed with my experience. I've had knee surgeries in the past but all have been at a hospital. The surgery center was a wonderful change of pace - the lobby was comfortable, clean and modern. Check in was a breeze - only took a few minutes to get me checked in and processed. Once I was taken back to change for surgery, I was tickled to learn that they surgery center had heated gowns! The gowns had an air chamber under it with a hookup for a warm air nozzle. It also had pockets on the front to keep my hands warm. The staff at the surgery center was icing on the cake - each person I interacted with was pleasant and friendly, even at 630 a.m. The nurses and doctors all explained who they were, what they were doing. I felt extremely comfortable in their care. The recovery room was also comfortable - much smaller than a hospital as it's outpatient surgery only here. I don't remember too terribly much about the recovery area or care as I was still in a bit of post-surgery haze. Two final touches that won me over - Pandora/music of my choice in the operating room and a follow-up phone call the next day to find out how I was doing. I'll be returning to the surgery center for a second knee surgery in the coming months and am a lot less nervous about how the experience will go knowing that I'll be in great hands at a state-of-the-art facility. read more

I've had one major operation in my life... it was here. I was very anxious beforehand. I hate pain killers, the idea of going under!!! My wisdom teeth was bad enough! Surgery, the thought, please... no. I will review my Doctor, who was amazing throughout the whole process, as well as his counterpart. Holy Calamity! I'm so confident life will be back to normal. Back to the center... The front desk staff was very nice. I don't think they knew I was nervous. Thankfully, my better half was with me... we discussed payment, procedure, and blah blah blah... they were so sweet. Waiting to be called in, I'm getting really, really nervous! I'm brought in by Sharon (sp). She was so professional, relaxed, and confident. Set my mind at ease a bit. Fortunately, my lady is a pro doc genius and helped also get me geared up for surgery... so when Sharon came to check up, I was I guess... ready. Doc came in, talked to me. Down under doc came in... wish I remembered his name. Explained he was going to make sure I was OK! I AM!!! The nurse was also very nice, from what I remember... unfortunately, I was a little too gone to remember her name, too. I feel bad, because they were amazing and helped take such good care of me. The entire staff is absolutely Amazing. Everyone is friendly, kind, and very attentive. They are extremely professional and take time to answer any questions, explain the procedures, and make you feel at ease. If you have to have surgery, this place is great. First of all, check-in is super easy and I was notified a few days before what my co-pay would be. My nurse was very friendly, kept me informed on what was happening, and made sure I was always comfortable. The heated blankets they bring you are a plus as well! I had a screw removed from a previous clavicle repair at Rocky Mountain surgery center. At first I was skeptical because I'm very picky about doctors and hospitals, but I trust my surgeon (Dr. Herbert Thomas) so i scheduled my surgery! I was delightfully surprised! The waiting room was comfortable, I was checked in very quickly and efficiently. I wasn't waiting for very long, they let my boyfriend come back with me and stay with me until I went into the operating room. My nurse was very sweet and helped distract me from my fear of needles. Everyone told me exactly what was going on and what was going to happen. The anesthesiologist came and talked to me and made sure I was comfortable and explained what he was going to do. Dr. Thomas came and talked to me. Everyone was absolutely wonderful. I would recommend getting any surgery done here, and I absolutely recommend my orthopedic surgeon, Herbert Thomas! Yes the surgery center sounds great while you are there however, be prepared for the bills to roll in after the procedure. I received a call from RMSC prior to my procedure with a large lump sum that would be due at time of service. I was told this was to "include everything except if I were to have anesthesia, that would be billed separately." As the bills rolled in I found out that the fee to RMSC only included the facility and nothing else. All doctors, meds, specialists, any sedation, etc were all billed separately. When I called to inquire the lady rudely said, "Well you signed the form saying it was only an estimate." RMSC needs to be more transparent with their patients. What an expensive shock! read more

Revised Review: The Business Office of this facility has dropped their charge of an additional $700 for intubation. This facility caters to private pay patients and charges their fee immediately prior to your surgical procedure. They did this without adequately presenting their final price to me in advance of my arrival at the center nor were they interested in collecting it in advance of my arrival. This outpatient center on the medical side seems professional and well run in the aspects that are visible to the patient. I was quite satisfied. I had been informed by the surgeon's office (not directly affiliated with the surgery facility I am told) of the total all inclusive fixed price prior to my agreeing to the private pay. This figure was reviewed in detail with the surgeon's office and presented by them on two occasions. Well this was "news" to the surgery facility who first presented alarming written figures almost $5000 more than my previous information. Then in the "negotiation" with their employee I was told it was only going to be $700 more than the agreed price. This was not really a relief. Here I am waiting to go into surgery within the hour, highly stressed and somewhat fearful of the procedure I am facing, and I am being presented with what seemed to me as a coercive attempt for more money. I insisted that the price be exactly what I was quoted originally by the surgeon's office who uses this facility on a regular basis for the procedure I was about to have. They explained that they wanted $700 extra for intubation during the surgery. In other words a procedure which is part and parcel of general anesthesia was being presented at an additional charge. The business manager at Rocky Mountain Surgery Center eventually relented and charged the fixed amount agreed upon prior to surgery. I have to say that my recent luck with anyone in the medical profession has been spotty at best. The last time I had surgery at an out patient surgery center my results were horrible. I had tried to be my own advocate and explain to my surgeon and the surgery center that I'm a very difficult IV stick and asked if they would like me there sooner to allow more time so I would not hold up surgeries. This time I was not rebuffed by the nurse at the surgery center, she was very appreciative of my heads up, and calmed me down due to my previous issues. I then found out that she was not JUST the pre-op nurse but the manager, how awesome of her to take the time out of her day to calm my concerns, and take the appropriate measures. She took me seriously, she did not have to and that proves the level of service they provide. I was then called the day before surgery and the message the nurse left even stated she was aware of my issue and she was prepared with multiple options and gave me the option to come earlier to calm my fears. The day of surgery went very smooth. I was treated like a VIP client and not a random patient in a gown. Each person I encountered connected with me on a personal level, I was not another chart to get back, line to start, person to put to sleep, I was a person in NEED of medical attention and they wanted to deliver that care. My recovery nurse was so attentive I literally had to tell her she could check on other things because I was doing so well and my ride was late. Turns out she was the director of the staff, she was a great nurse as well, no wonder the entire staff is so amazing.
