A fantastic Mexican restaurant, with friendly staff and clean, fun decor. My son and I stopped back from our trip to Florida, and were very happy we did. I was surprisingly impressed. Let me explain. After a long weekend I went driving around Dothan for a restaurant that was reasonably priced and near the major highway. I land at Rodeo. What I instantly noticed was that the parking lot was, "Packed." That's NOT an exaggeration. Cars were in the parking lot next door. Upon going inside I had a 15 minute wait so I could be seated. Decided to go to the restroom to wash my hands before lunch. There was a line so by the time I was finished my table was ready. Let's start with the specials and prices SUPERB!!!!!! Seriously the prices are spectacular and even better after 4pm. If your ever in the area make sure you stop by Rodeo. I don't often fan out over a restaurant but this one takes the cake. I had a basic Mexican dish which consisted of a burrito, rice and beans. There's no way to mess up on that meal and pretty much the same across the board. We went there for a quick late lunch after golf. The prices are awesome - especially the lunch specials. I got a burrito supreme and my son got a taco, burrito, and enchilada special. All was very good for the money. I also loved the giant glasses of Diet Coke after golf. I did not like getting charged for the second basket of chips but it was still a great deal. Midway from Atlanta to the beach, fresh and fast is the priority. I ordered the seafood Taco Macho and it was delicious. Way too much food! It came out incredibly fast and I'll be happy in an hour when my belly doesn't hurt. The shrimp, fish and lettuce all tasted clean and fresh. Great food, super fast. I had a Taco Macho with grilled shrimp, crab, zucchini and onions with lettuce, tomato, guacamole and sour cream. All in a taco shell. This was very reasonably priced. My husband had grilled steak with peppers and onions. And yes, they have black beans. He had grilled veggies with it. Steak was tender and prepared to order. This place hit the spot! On hold for 10 minutes trying to place an order. Went in and ordered. Food came out quickly. When we arrived home the order was missing the following: cheese dip, rice and beans and the enchilada order was wrong. The steak fajitas were full of green peppers and very little steak. The steak was so tough that it was almost jerky. So disappointed! We called the restaurant back and the guy kept saying "we don't have that order here." We could never make him understand that we had part of the order and it was wrong. Beware when ordering take out from this place and double check your order before leaving. read more

I've been here before and have had good experiences, however last night was awful. 1. I don't expect everyone to be able to speak the same language as me, but there was a huge language barrier with our waitress. How can she take our order if she can't understand us? 2. She got my order wrong. I don't like the chicken, and I wanted beef...I was brought chicken. 3. I ordered a frozen margarita...was not frozen. 4. My dinner companion didn't get part of his order and we had to ask for it. 5. Our drinks stayed empty for 45 minutes and she never asked if we wanted a refill...because she never came back to check on us. 6. This is the grossest restaurant I've ever been to. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. The first time I ate here, my partner and I got sick. Then a friend wanted to eat here, so we said why not, and gave it a second try. We had a terrible case of diarrhea after that. Go here instead of La Parilla, or anywhere else in town. The prices are fantastic, as is the food. The salsa, too, unless you don't like cilantro. We've tried several different items on the menu and have hardly ever been disappointed. Chimichangas and chili rellenos are our favorite items, and the Mexican dressing they make is addictive. read more

After plans to go to La Parilla fell through, my fiancé and I looked up other Mexican restaurants in Dothan and found Rodeo. We were not disappointed! In fact, we liked it just as much as the popular La Parilla. The chips were hearty and felt good and wholesome to eat. Our only complain was that the salsa was a little runny. The service was attentive and fast. We actually had to tell our waitress we weren't ready to order because everything on the menus looked delicious! We split fajitas with chicken, steak, and shrimp for one, and it was plenty for both of us (both of us really like to eat, so I promise there was plenty of food). Yummy onions, peppers, mushrooms, and tomatoes, and there were even sautéed squash and zucchini! That was great. The plate of toppings had a generous helping of guacamole, which made me happy! They also have great prices! We got cheese dip with our chips and plenty of food for under $20 for the two of us. Definitely would go back. read more

If I could give this a restaurant a BLACK star I would. Management needs a lesson in hospitality, customer courtesy or something. After some friends and I have frequented this restaurant at least once a week for over a year for our "Cheese Dip Lunch"(we ordered other things but we always got some cheese dip). I could not believe how rude the management was. We would always ask for to go cups(which were much smaller than the actual cups you get with a dine in meal) before leaving. then one day we noticed another patron had a LARGER to go cup and asked for one and were told those where for To-Go orders. So upon our next weeks lunch we ordered TO-GO drinks(thinking they must be a little extra charge but no big deal). The manager went to our server and told him we couldnt have the LARGER cup. That we could only have the smaller cup because we were dine-in. A little set back we took a whatever attitude and proceeded with our normal lunch chatter. Then the manager walks swiftly by our table with every word dripping with contempt "says if you want those big cups you have to pay double." At this point I am about to come completely unhinged(after I personally was a server for over 6yo and know that is not the way you treat a customer) I told him that was fine I didnt mind paying extra for the larger cup. But his was still so full of contempt about us getting LARGE To-Go cups repeating the fact that he would be charging us double. I felt sorry for the server and he repeatedly apologized. I know one thing for sure that was the end of a a weekly tradition for my friends and myself eating at Rodeo's. We will be looking for a new place to be dining for our weekly lunch get togethers. He really should not act as thos they are the only Mexican restuarant in Dothan when there is a new one opening less than a quarter mile down the road. read more

We were a party of 16 tonight. There were several problems. Our server never brought want we asked for before the meal. Three of us got our food 15 minutes after the others got their food. I asked for a togo plate when I finally received my meal and it was never delivered. I had to ask again. During the meal I asked for more salsa and never got it. This happen to a few of us. Several of our guests received their side dishes at the end of the meals. None of our meals were reduced in price for all the problems. The server seemed annoyed by our visit and incapable to accommodate our request. Three of our dishes were wrong and nothing was done about it. The server didn't seemed interested in hearing of our orders that were prepared wrong. It seems you are incapable of serving more than a few correctly. read more

We LOVE LOVE this place, are happy many-times-repeat customers ! Always seated right away, always get type of seats requested (booth or table), their chips & salsa are the BEST !! Hot salty chips, salsa not too thick & just the right amount of cilantro. Their frozen margaritas are A++++++ (they have a 'slurpy machine' for them, so they are always smooth & ice cold !) Lots of crunchy salt on the rim (can you tell I like them ??) & they don't skimp on the alcohol. I almost always get Combo #7, which is the Friday dinner special for $5.95, it is a beef enchilada, a crunchy taco, beans & rice. Always HOT & FRESH & doesn't leave you feeling bloated full. Which leaves room for...... FRIED ICE CREAM ! And theirs is very good. And to top it all off, their prices are SUPER reasonable ! (especially when you get the special of the day, they have a lunch & dinner special every day). Don't forget to ask what drink specials they have that day, they always have something on special, usually their margaritas. Which are yummy ! Go try it, you WON'T be disappointed !! read more
