I recently celebrated a friend's birthday at Rodeo Mexican Restaurant in Hinesville, GA, and the folks definitely made a great impression! The restaurant is spacious, inviting, with a nice bar area. They also have a great menu with happy hour drinks and appetizers, which is always a win in my book. The staff deserves a shoutout. Everyone we encountered was pleasant, helpful, and professional, making the birthday celebration even more enjoyable. The food! I ordered a combination plate with the chicken tamale, Spanish rice, and chile relleno, it was so good. The tamale was just right, the rice was a great complement to the chile relleno, definitely hit the spot. And because a Mexican food experience isn't complete without one... the house margarita... Delicious and the perfect pairing for the meal. They offer a nice selection of cocktails, beers, and margaritas, from strawberry to mango and everything in between. Overall, Rodeo was a delicious restaurant, with tasty food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. My foodie verdict: definitely worth a visit! read more

We got there around 7pm ish. It wasn't crowded at all. They had a bar and a lot of tables and seated areas. The decorations were very detailed! The back rests of all the chairs had Mexican inspired art, the walls were decorated with Mexican memorabilia and it was clean. We were greeted at the check in podium and promptly seated. Our waitress was very smiley and overall very pleasant. We shared a lot of laughs and had conversations and we felt very welcomed. They serve free chips and salsa too. As for food, we ordered the queso birria plate and the enchilada plate, flan and washed it down with their huge margaritas. I asked for the spiciest salsa and it was definitely spicy (but manageable), but lacking some flavor. The table salsa had more depth. If they can make that table salsa just as spicy i would have asked for a whole bottle to take home. The birria meat was also a little on the blander side. Overall the food was delicuous, it may have just been that day whoever made it went too light on the sal, but i def would like to come visit again They also give a very generous military discount so we tipped nearly the same amount. read more

Service is great, the house salsa is delicious, and the top shelf margarita is tasty. Sit outside if you can as the interior tables have vinyl table covers stapled to them. They have a lovely patio, though. I had the San Juan burrito with mole on recommendation. The carne asada was tough as boots and had obviously been pre-cooked and held in a steam table. The mole was a bit bitter, but otherwise okay. The guacamole is store bought and the sopapillas are simply flour tortillas deep fried and topped with cinammon sugar and aerosol whip cream. Portions are large and the staff is great so if you overlook some quality hiccups you won't leave hungry. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would, I had a terrible experience with this place. To start off, I ordered over $100 worth of food from this place through DoorDash and my order waited at the restaurant for two hours and the restaurant canceled my order so I called the store and asked them to just remake the order and I would come to the store and pick it up myself and pay for it again since the order was canceled and I was to be refunded within the 5 to 7 business days. The sweet woman on the phone said that was fine but when I arrived at the store, the one that had answered the phone for me was very upset, and the manager approached me telling me that she would not remake the order. My food was already made sitting there waiting for me and if I wanted it, that's what I was getting. I told her that I would not pay for that food. I want my food remade. My food has been sitting there for two hours. I want fresh food, not old food, and she completely refused me of that. I showed her on my phone where the restaurant canceled the order and she still continued to say the restaurant did not do that. I will never go back to this place again, and I look forward to to speaking to corporate management. read more

OK so first off this place odd so cute when you walk in. And you're sat right away but that is when it goes non from there. We have been twice and both time we are sat and it takes 10-15 minutes for a server to come out and great us. Both times I was on the verge of walking out. Both times we were rushed when they did come out and both different servers seemed as though they did not want to be at work. Both had very poor attitudes and just were trying to get through. The food was lacking on my end but that was it. My date had great tacos but mine were cold and lacking. There are so much better places then this. Please look at the options and see if there is something better. We drove from Savannah to try this place twice and both times were disappointed. Bummer! read more

I'm a proud Mexican from East Los Angeles and know a thing or two about authentic Mexican food. My mom and I came to Hinesville to visit my brother at Ft Stewart. My brother was released early from work and decided to eat lunch at Rodeo Mexican Restaurant. We were all craving good Mexican food and hoped we would find a piece of home here. My brother had warned us that many of his battle mates did not like this restaurant and considered it to be a low quality nonauthentic Mexican food. Despite their review, we still went ahead and gave it a try ourselves. I ordered the chicken flautas, which were horrible. The dish lacked flavor, it was extremely bland and the tortilla tasted frozen. A dish that I could get in the freezer isle at Costco. The dish only comes with four small flauta and no rice and beans. My mom got the enchilada trio. She questioned what kind of salsa picado it would be and I jokingly said, "I wouldn't be surprise if it's this tomato sauce for the chips" Let me tell you, I spoke that into existence. The enchiladas were also bland, non authentic, and flavorless and topped with tomato sauce "salsa" that was used for chips dip. I've never had a chicken enchilada with rice and beans inside. She might as well have ordered a burrito. My brother got ranchera carne asada which was basically a rib-eye cut with tomato salsa on top with rice and beans. Such a huge disappointment. If we wanted rib-eye I could have gone to Texas Roadhouse. What makes it ranchera is the marinade, seasoning and meat cut (which is flank/skirt). This was not that. For starter we got chorizo/spinach queso dip which was basically half drained microwaved spinach with a small amount of chorizo mixed with watery milk. The "queso" was a liquid and flavorless. I've had queso dips before like spinach chorizo queso fundido and that was not it. The only good thing I ate were the tortilla chips. That's it. Even the Jamaica I got was watered down and flavorless. I didn't think it was possible to mess up on a Jamaica drink!! The horchata tasted like the artificial horchata that you get at a gas station with water. It doesn't take much supply to make good authentic horchata and Jamaica. Lastly, I couldn't believe the amount of people that were there eating these dishes like it was delicious. It makes me really sad knowing people there thought this was authentic Mexican food. I've had authentic, GOOD, delicious and mouthwatering Mexican food and the Rodeo Mexican restaurant ain't it. If you're ever in East LA please try any Mexican restaurant there to taste the difference. Once you taste authentic Mexican food you'll understand what I'm saying. Many moons ago this was Sonnys BBQ, I think Rodeo opened right before or after I left in 06. I met up with one of my best friends and her mama here. The chips and salsa were decent. I loved the queso. I miss the white queso so much living in Texas with that damn orange/yellow queso and not many places offer queso blancho!!! I got the pollo loco. It was pretty good. Chicken was seasoned well and loved all the veggies in it. If I lived here, I'd definitely be a regular. read more

I'm in town for the weekend and I always look forward to this place. We came in and the menu is revamped the server was awkward and the food is no longer that great. It's a 4/10. I don't know if it was an off day but we paid 16$ for nachos that had little meat to chip ratio. All in all it was $60 for everything. I feel sick after I left will probably not be back, maybe again when they get there new menu figured out. The new menu is only 2 flip pages inside a shell and a lot of the options are gone. I understand making it easier but for someone like me who eats chicken and not beef there were not a lot of options especially with only 5 burritos and all of them being beef but the one vegetarian one. read more

Coming from AZ we are very finicky for mexican food (call me a mexican food snob!) We found the food good- just not oh my gosh to die for! We continuously asked for our margarita and the servers excuse was that the "bar was busy" while 3 people were sitting there.
