They say you get what you pay for and this place is a prime example of that. I would not have chosen this hotel if I didn't have to check out of my former hotel due them being sold out for a rave and all other hotels in that area being sold out and/or ridiculously overpriced. This hotel is owned and run by an Indian family who lets their 12 year-old daughter run the front desk while they stand by. They required a $50 cash deposit (only) for the room, requiring me to use the ATM in the rear lobby, alongside a broken soda machine, aging ice maker and a laundry "room" the size of a closet. After paying the $6.50 fee to get my own money, we got into out room which was on the second floor in the back. They said they had no rooms on the first floor, however after checking in, I noticed many vacant rooms on the first floor as I traveled back and forth to retrieve my luggage. Our room was in the very back of the building, next to an outdoor sitting area with a wobbly round table and 3 aging chairs. The room had a very large sink area as you walk in, however the enclosed bathroom was very small along with a narrow door that inconveniently opened in, offering even less room within. There was a shower stall instead of a bathtub, complete with a rusty shower head and low water pressure. The beds were adequate and the refrigerator was good size. The furniture was very old and showed many signs of wear. Only one of the 2 wall lights over the bed worked. The desk in the corner was also very old, came with a stained fabric chair and a lamp with a broken bulb; not to mention a corded phone that looked like it was bought at the Goodwill. The room had a small balcony (complete with half a blunt that someone had left on the railing not to mention a torn screen door that required 2 hands close. There was a good-sized closet with 6 attached wooden hangers and sliding doors that only slid from the top track, requiring them to be left as they were. I was not even able to call my room and talk to my mother due to the fact that there was no automated menu allowing me to do so. The front desk clerk answered, I asked for my room, and was abruptly cut off. When I called back and asked for my room again, they asked me what the "problem" was. Um, I want to call my room so I can talk to my mother? I know land line phones are practically obsolete, but sometimes they're your only option. Most of the stay went by without incident, so when I decided to extend (solely due to lack of options) I was told that they could not extended my stay due to the fact that we had 2 noise complaints. When I asked why they didn't tell me when it happened, they said they didn't want to bother me. So THIS is how I find out? No first warning, just bon voyage? For a place that is nothing more than a fancy flop house, they sure are strict! It ended up being somewhat of a blessing because I realized I had enough points at another hotel chain to stay there for a while. We were also refused our deposit back because they said our room was "dirty" (it was not, nor did we receive any maid service or was made aware that there was any.) Once again, for a place with such low standards of practice, they sure stick their nose in the air. I didn't care though. I was just glad to be out of there. I found the staff at the least, unsavory, and something like that can make or break a pleasant hotel stay. It was obvious what the owner's priorities were, and it was not the guests. I feel sorry for the people who have no choice but to stay here as it is the only hotel in Canyon Lake. This is a nice community, but the hotel definitely tarnishes it. I hope some new people WHO ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THEIR GUESTS take over this place. Until then, use the money you would save instead for gas to a MUCH nicer place either in Menifee or Lake Elsinore. Place was one step up from a roach motel. Furniture was either ripped or broken. Half of the light fixtures and outlets worked. Towel rack was coming off the wall and being held by blue painters tape. Shower curtain ripped and cigarette burns in the bedding. Damage on the walls and door frame from someone's pet or maybe a child. Towels were threadbare and not very clean. Probably for the best that we were only given just 2. Was only given a whole toilet paper roll and a half of one that was 1-ply. I am a very difficult human to deal with. I am going through a very hard time in my life becoming a single parent with my 1 year old child. The man has been very generous and understanding with me. At first, I believed the younger girl to have an unnecessary attitude but when I had an issue to where all my food was frozen (due to my own ignorance) and I was going crazy because I had nothing to feed my son, the younger girl is the one who offered extra help for me to feed my baby. I was there Monday early morning but had to take the kids to school before 8am and I forgot my black, thick, expensive, wool, wrangler brand jacket in the room. Not even five hours passed by the same day I called and drove way over there to ask and verify to make sure if it was still there. Do not stay here! The place is on its last legs. We were asked to sign a waiver that if anything happened to us or any of our belongings they were not responsible. I have never in my entire life had to sign anything like that at a hotel. That should've been our first clue. We get to our room which beyond shoddy. I get the ice bucket, walk down the hall, and there was a cleaning lady there. I asked her where the ice machine was, her response was, we don't have an ice machine, I said well if you don't have an ice machine why are there ice buckets in the rooms? At that point she could no longer speak English. Went back to the room glanced in the bathroom and we had no towels. We had 1 washcloth and that was it. So again, I went down to the Cleaning lady and asked for towels. I start looking around and this place should be condemned. They had disconnected the smoke detector, there were broken floorboards, the view outside of old junk and plywood. Booking a room here was a last minute option due to availability in the area. I knew when going it was just a place to sleep so I didn't expect much. Being rundown is one thing and understandable, but there isn't really an excuse for lack of cleanliness. Beds and bedding were clean and all the furniture seemed clean, but the room needed a deep cleaning. The light fixtures had a buildup of dirt, dust and dead bugs. Lots of hard water stains in the bathroom on the tile, flooring corners, and around the sink. The balcony had a dozen cigarette butts all over it and the sliding door window was dirty. Baseboards were dirty and had chipped paint. Needs a good deep cleaning and maybe some touch up paint would do this place a lot of good. read more

When the only other hotels in Menifee are $200+/night and you need a room for five nights, you have you lower your expectations. We opted for the Rodeway, booked via Expedia, for $100/night (plus taxes) and knew that we wouldn't be in some five-star hotel. The front desk staff were very friendly, prompt, and patient, and did their best to help us. Other reviews stated problems reaching the staff but that didn't happen during our five-day visit. When we first checked in, we had to change our room because of lingering cigarette smoke. We could tell they tried to cover it up with Fabreeze but there was no way that smell was going away. We were quickly given a second room. In the new room, the TV didn't work (it turned on, but there was "no signal"), the sink's water pressure was minimal, and there were a few items in disrepair (like a cover missing from an overhead light and a comically squeaky bed frame). None of this really mattered to us and we didn't mention it to the staff. The bed was very clean (though the sheets smelled a little over-bleached) and the pillows were nice. I would have liked a heavier blanket but I know that's not within this hotel's scope. The floors and bathroom were spotless and had all the little bottles of shampoo and soap you'd expect, plus plenty of towels. The room's fridge was perfectly functional - even the freezer section. The AC/heater worked great - we left it on "Fan" mode most of the time. Our room did not have some of the convenient bedside tables that I saw in the photos with small lamps and a charging station. Instead, just a regular table and an outlet in the wall. The property could use a general tidying up, too. There were lots of items just laying around... paint cans in the lobby, water hoses strewn about. There was always plenty of parking and we never felt unsafe. Very rarely did we hear anyone outside during our entire stay. read more

They have people who live in their rooms past the extended rental time which limits the space for possible clients. A person who bought a room out of kindness to get my son and I off the street, was told he couldn't get the room for me because of an incident I wasn't apart of about 3 years ago. One room had broken door and toilet moved to another room where it smelled like smoke and the TV wouldn't work. Another time, a room where the remote wouldn't work, cracks all in the ceiling and holes in the ceiling and they did do a remodel but that doesn't help the mechanical issues. I wish I could give this dump a Zero Star! Booked a reservation for 3 days. Checked in yesterday April 8th, 2022 at 1:22PM. $422.98 ($140.99 per day). First thing I noticed was all the pillows (6) were wrinkled, as if they hadn't been cleaned. There was dirt and dark colored lint around the baseboards. There was a small table and chair, but no outlet to plug in anything (laptop). Later when I took my socks off I immediately realized what a mistake that was, there was sand, dirt or who knows what on the floor. I intended to work through the weekend...... there were 5 different logins for the internet Roadway 00 / 1/ 2 /3 / 4.... password "internet", none of them worked. I went up to the office, the night manager? told her the internet password wasn't working, she asked to see my phone??? I told her I didn't need Wi-F1 for my phone, I needed internet for my laptop. She asked about my phone five times!!!! Then she finally understood and told me to bring my laptop to the office???? Damn!!! I decided to wait until the next day (this morning) for the day manager. This morning I prepared to do some errands. After 40+ in construction I know the hot water faucet / valve is on the left. I was done shaving before I tried the right faucet handle, it took a while but yes they had the faucet connected backwards!!! Next step...take a shower, NO SHAMPOO, turned on the shower faucet, reddish brown water spewed into the bottom of the tub! Damn again! I let it run for a while. The water was warm, just warm. I was pretty upset by then. I went up to the office, the day manger was there. I explained everything to her. She said she would tell the manager, when he came in. I told her I was checking out and expected a full refund. She still charged me $149.38 I told her I would post a review on Yelp and Google, file a complaint with the BBB, Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, health department..... I am also disputing the charges to my bank and sending a copy of this to Small Claims Court with a claim for the$149.38 plus court costs. Judging by the other reviews here on Yelp I'm surprised this DUMP hasn't been shut down already. I imagine the only reason they are still operating is because the have One Night transactions. The back of the TV guide (which management should have replaced) stated "* A Hole Zone". I really have sympathy for the poor souls that have no alternative but to stay here. I have no doubts that there are an abundance of illegal activities going on here. I truly believe the County of Riverside and the District Attorneys Office should investigate this DUMP! The Roadway inn is an inexpensive hotel in a relatively nice area. You get what you pay for. The staff is friendly but the building need some revamping. They are not clear about their smoking policy. One day they said all their rooms are non smoking but the next day they said they do have some smoking rooms. Bottom like is that some rooms smell like an ashtray and the ones that are non smelly they end up having smoke coming from the bathroom vents. Maybe that's the reason the smoke detector was covered with a plastic bag. If you are ok with all of that then this would be an ok place to stay since it's close to Temecula and very inexpensive. read more

My friend and I were traveling and needed a place to crash for a couple of hours, this place fit our needs but make note, we carry our own disposable blankets, and we sanitized this place like there was no tomorrow !! 1. The moment you arrive you realize is a sketchy place. There were druggies hanging out outside the rooms, already we felt unsafe. 2. Room looked ready but by no means clean. We didn't take photos because again, we carry our blankets for this very reason, but wow ! Blankets and pillows were stained. Restroom, no way I'm taking a shower and stepping foot on that floor or tub. 3. TV never worked, we are not TV people but if YOU are, just one more reason why not to book here. 4. At 2am We were woken by rowdy neighbors having a party or a move out event. 5. We had enough by 3am and got ready to leave and continue our trip, when we noticed the big stain behind the bed ! This motel really surprised me. I thought it was going to be very old from the looks of the outside and the lobby, but once we got inside our room, it was very bright. I loved the bright green walls and the modern furniture. I booked the room through booking.com which gave me a 2 queen size bed room for $65.99 with taxes included. I thought that it was a really good deal for the modern place! We asked for a non-smoking room, which we got but the room next to us was smoking and since there was a door connecting the two rooms, we could smell the cigarettes and weed... but apparently their room was also a "non-smoking room". Was here for one night due to work! Over all It was a pretty good experience it was Quiet and they have cable, also a cantina on the parking lot. To me it was a plus i was able to have dinner and drinks with out having to drive in an area i am not familiar in. The room has a mini fridge and micro. The one thing i am not happy about is the bathroom! Well Nooo.. It was clean, it was just the shower! The shower floor was gross! It looked like it could have been cleaned a little harder everything else in the room was pretty spotless! Oh i almost forgot!! The room has a small balcony!
