The current name is Cathedral Inn - The overall experience was great. The inn had all the basic needs while visiting the area. There is a free breakfast: cereal, waffles, toast and beverages. Demanded VAX PAPERWORK FOR MY DOG! Totally ruined my trip. Only found out by randomly calling. Had to cancel here and change my entire plans last second! Who travels w vax paperwork for their dog? I I've stayed in 100s of hotels in my life, 100+ w MY DOG! Never asked for vax paperwork for my dog once. FTR it's now Cathedral Valley Inn... It's not listed on their website, which I looked at before booking! Cost me 100$+ to book last minute elsewhere, and kept me from doing hikes bc we were in different location than expected. Gotta say, this place made me feel like I was visiting a cousin, not a hotel. And that's a good thing. My wife and I were on a vacation through Utah, without a plan, picking hotels each night based on where we thought we'd end up for the next day's National Park visit. We were aiming for the closest Choice Hotels chain near Capitol Reef to get points, and this is where the website put us. We got to Torrey, which is actually a town, then realized we had to drive a bit further to get to this hotel, but it works out that Capitol Reef is about half way between this hotel and Torrey. And the darker it got as we were driving to it, the more we realized we were getting further off the beaten path. And, being city folk, at some point, we pulled off the road, turned off our rental car, looked up, and realized that we were looking at more stars than either of us had ever seen. When we got to the hotel to check in, we met the manager, and mentioned how we were amazed by the stars. The first thing he did was draw us a map to show us how we could get to an even more remote area for a clearer view. This was really neat. As others have said, don't judge a book by the cover. It's a Rodeway, not the Beverly Wilshire, and it was clear that renovations were in process. But, the room was clean, the place was dead quiet, and the bed was very comfy. The next morning, we sat with the manager and his wife during breakfast, and felt like we were visiting friends. We went on to Capitol Reef National Park, had an awesome hike, and a very enjoyable page to add to our vacation. read more

Definitely a diamond in the rough. It is out in the middle of no where, but the rooms are quality. On the outside, the looks are deceiving, because the rooms are cleaner than many I've seen in a long time. The staff was exceptionally accommodating with COVID, giving us a full breakfast assortment, rather than most hotels that used COVID as an excuse to do nothing. The staff was friendly, as they offered ice from their personal machine when the outside one was broken. The beds are soft, the rooms are clean, and it is where it needed to be for the National park. WiFi is a little hit or miss, but it's better than expected considering the location! read more

Very strange. I am 100% sure that I wrote a review of this place. Anyway, you are made to feel completely at home here. It's really in the middle of nowhere, as there's not really a town in Caineville, and consequently, no markets or restaurants, but it is rather close to Capitol Reef N.P., and there are some munchies that the owners keep in the front in a freezer. But really, it was quiet, comfortable, clean, and the owners were super nice and knew the whole area extremely well, and could give quite a lot of tips on what to see and how to get there. read more

Looks a little rough from the outside, but inside is very clean and well-kept. Beds were comfortable. Mini fridge and microwave in the room. There's a freezer in the front office with a few basics for purchase (hot pockets, easy Mac, that sort of thing) but otherwise the only food/gas is 18 miles away in Hanksville. Pet friendly; $15 fee and she said flat-out that she charges $50 if you try to hide your pet so just don't. No elevator and no accessible rooms, but there's enough space to get a standard wheelchair around the beds on the bottom floor; bathroom would be an issue if you can't walk at all as there's not enough room to transfer. No cell service for about 40 miles any direction (unless you climb a hill) but they do have WiFi. The people that run the place are super friendly and fun to talk to, and will go out of their way to help you. As we checked out she was helping another guest find reservations in a different city for that night. Lovely pair of people, decent accommodations, would stay here again! [visited 4/26/18] read more

My wife and I were 1 of 2 rooms here for the night! We pulled up and got check in really easily. It is so quiet, but so conveniently located outside Capitol Reef (turn left out of the hotel and you end up in the park!). My wife and I had chairs so we hung out in the silence (except for wild turkeys) and drank a couple of cold beers. The rooms all had DirectTv and were comfortable. Beds were comfy and the shower was hot! Breakfast was very good in the morning - the waffle mix, however it was made, was wonderful! Then we also had plenty of coffee and headed out to continue our trip! Definitely recommend that you stay here for convenience and quality. read more

Nicely kept, older Rodeway Inn just outside Capitol Reef. Really great location. The beds were very comfortable and the room was very clean. Good showers and consistent internet. The manager was very nice and called to make sure a restaurant in Hanksville would still be open when we arrived. For the price ($68 - low season), location, and good management I'd say this place is a great find. read more

Stopped here on the way from Canyonlands NP to Capitol Reef NP. Mostly chose this place due to its location which is about 20 minutes from the park. We had the largest 2 bed room and it was $109 during the tourism season, I'd say that's inexpensive for the area and situation. It's nothing fancy but the manager (he lives there) is very friendly and helpful. The hotel building is a bit older but we had a very clean room and were very happy with our stay here. I should note that Caineville consists of just this hotel, we didn't see another business in the town. So don't plan to have dinner right next to the hotel or anything like that. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Great value and location with a friendly staff and clean rooms. read more

Picture this: My man and I have a 4Runner and a Jumping Jack tent trailer which we take with us everywhere, off road, disperse camping, no problem. Until yesterday, when rains and flash floods not only made the road we were on impassable but we got stuck in soft, squishy mud a good 10 inches. By the time we self rescued and got out of there, it was dark, the prospect of finding a decent camping spot, setting up, cooking dinner etc, was a bit much. And then, like magic, the Rodeway Inn happened. Sarah was welcoming and gracious, full of information about where to go to resupply, and we happily booked a room for the night. The room was pristine, had everything we needed, nothing we didn't and the bed was really comfy. We woke feeling rested and ready for the day and oh, super awesome fabulousness, Sarah also happens to make wonderful coffee. The prices are fair, it's quiet, clean and well lit, ample parking all around. We'll definitely come back. read more

I don't know why I'm writing a review for a motel that is in the middle of nowhere, and I really should feel lucky that I found a place to stay after driving three hours in the rain from Moab. The owner lives in one of the units. He was super nice about our late check-in. He was kind to remind us about driving safe and avoiding the rain when we checked out. There was nothing out of the ordinary about this motel, not even the small dead cockroach on the bathroom floor. Honestly, if it was alive, I would have been more freaked out about it. A dead one? Well, pest control was in place! I imagine that I would find the other pests if not this in other motels, but I can't bring myself to give it a better review given the fact that I saw one dead roach. read more

The new owners have made some great improvements where it counts. New comfortable mattresses. The location is perfect for my wife and I to use as a home base to explore the amazing nearby attractions from Capitol Reef and the surrounding area. Amazing views of the blue hills from the hotel and good hiking right out the back with world class scenery and rock hounding. The WiFi doesn't always work flawlessly but I am out here to get away so that's as much of a positive as it is a negative to me. The staff is very friendly and there is a pool and hot tub although I haven't actually used it, I'm sure I will eventually if I can take a break from exploring all this area has to offer. The biggest drawback is the lack of close by dining options so plan accordingly and enjoy your stay. read more

This place is a classic case of "don't judge a book by its cover". When we first pull in, the exterior needs a little work and it's in the middle of nowhere so we were a little concerned. But as soon as we checked in, those concerns totally went away. The new owners have invested a good amount of money to renovate the inside of the rooms with really comfortable beds and an interior refresh. The pool and jacuzzi are perfectly heated and offer a gorgeous vew of the mountains at night (see attached). The closest restaurants are about 30 minutes away so Chris and Curtis, the managers, have done a really nice job stocking a good selection of quality foods that you can cook on their outdoor bbq or, believe it or not, even microwaveable options that are healthy and tasty... good selection of microbrews too (at reasonable prices). You can tell they take a lot of pride in what they do and really go out of their way to make you feel at home. Great place to stay if your going to Capitol Reef National Park. We stopped at this hotel on the way to Capitol Reef National Park. Sarah, the woman who operates hotel, was very friendly. The room was very clean and neat. Looks like a 36" flat screen with good selection of cable channels. Free wi-fi with password. Beds were a little harder than some other hotels at same price point but good pillows. Breakfast had waffles, fruit, toast/ENGLISH muffins, yogurt, and muffins. Plenty of coffee. The view out the door of the hotel was great! Nothing around immediate area of the hotel and very little road traffic at night. Nice dirt road across the street for a nice run in the morning. Great place for around $70/night. read more

This place was horrible. WiFi didn't work. The carpet was stained, and I found bugs in the closet area. The vent fan in the bathroom made so much noise that we couldn't turn the bathroom light on. The renovations to the hotel are nice. They changed the bedding and it looks and feels luxurious. Felt more like a 4 star hotel than a motel. Shauna was super nice and helpful! As a frequent traveler for business and fun with over 2,000 nights spent in hotels in the past 10 years, I can honestly say I have never felt more welcomed at a hotel as the Rodeway Inn in Caineville, UT. The staff spent 15-20 minutes discussing all of the best sites to see in the area and were just as excited to share their knowledge of the area as I was to see the sites. The room was clean and comfortable. The bottom line is this hotel is an excellent value and I would recommend to anyone. read more

My fiance and I stayed here after we were turned away from a Hanksville motel due to a no-pet policy. WOW. It exceeded our expectations in every way. Check-in was quick and efficient, Shauna was very congenial and welcoming, the pet fee was only $15, internet was free and reasonably speedy, the grounds are nicely maintained and the room was fantastic! Fairly roomy, clean, super comfortable mattresses (Serta Presidentials, maybe?), great pillows, comforters that seem to be feather-filled, and SO QUIET! It is in a scenic setting, situated immediately across from South Caineville Mesa and just east of Capitol Reed National Park. A great place to unwind. Two things to note: There is no nearby restaurant, though there are various microwavable foods in the office. If coming from Hanksville, try Stan's Burger Shak (the shakes are great-I am partial to Peanut Butter-Banana, and the deep fried mushrooms are the bomb). If coming from Torrey, you have more options. In past years, Austin's Chuck Wagon treated me well. The other thing to note: You probably won't have cell service. This isn't a knock on the motel, it's just a result of the remote location. Change your phone settings to enable wi-fi calling and you should be good to go. Try the Capitol Reef Rodeway Inn. It is a strong value for the money. We hope to be back soon! read more

Coming from the west side of Utah toward Capitol Reef NP, this is one of the very few establishments. However the management (which I think is fairly new) seems committed to making it a good place to stay. It was clean and the room was a nice size. The Inn had laundry facilities that I was able to use after several days of camping. My kids enjoyed playing in the pool. There was a nice TV that we watched some of the Rio Olympics on and wi-fi was adequate. Breakfast was good. But above all, the manager was very nice, helpful and friendly. If you are OK skipping the fancy stuff, this is a more than acceptable place to rest before heading on in to Capitol Reef. It should be noted, thought, there are no restaurants for dinner or lunch in the vicinity. I think the closest is about 25 miles away. read more

Stayed here on a recent four-wheeling trip. As another reviewer noted, there are no other businesses or services nearby, so know that going in, but you are close to Capitol Reef National Park. The hotel itself was a nice surprise. The rooms were very clean, tidy, and spacious. The beds are comfortable and the showers hot. The price can't be beat. This hotel isn't a destination itself, but it is a great jumping off point for the Capitol Reef area. If you are looking for value, simplicity, cleanliness, and comfort, give it a shot. The wi-fi is pretty weak if that's important to you. Otherwise, absolutely no complaints. Will stay here again when I'm in the area. read more

i stayed there on my way from canyonlands to capital reef very nice staff really helpfull , clean and large rooms good wi fi didn't even check on the phone signal. my surprise was the next day when i was having breakfast that the manager approached me and asked me if i was driving the nissan i said yes and he told me that i had a flat which i said its ok i will take care of it after breakfast,when i went out side he already had a floor jack under the car and started taking the tire off i was surprised and said i can take care of it but he wouldn't let me do it and he changed it for me . that place and staff are the best. read more
