Do not stay at this property…read more Due to a computer error, I was never properly checked in. When I returned after a full day of working in the field, I discovered that hotel staff had entered my room, gone through and removed my belongings, and locked me out. I was then charged for a night I did not stay at the hotel. Because the hotel had no other rooms available, I was forced to find another hotel at additional expense and inconvenience. What is even more troubling is how Hyatt and the hotel have handled the situation since then. Hyatt Corporate specifically instructed me not to return to the property and assured me that they would handle the matter directly. I was initially told that someone would contact me within 24-48 hours. It has now been approximately a month and a half, and the issue is still not resolved. No one has called me. According to Hyatt Corporate, the franchise owner has been made aware of the situation, yet there has still been no meaningful response or resolution. My company is also still being charged for a night that I did not stay at the property. Kareem, the manager who checked me in the previous day and spoke with me the morning of the incident, never contacted me to apologize or attempt to correct the situation. The lack of accountability, communication, leadership, and customer care from both the Ridgeland Hyatt Place and Hyatt Corporate has been appalling. I have repeatedly attempted to resolve this privately, but after a month and a half, nothing has been corrected. If Hyatt or the franchise owner has any questions or doubts about what occurred, I am available and willing to speak with them directly. They have my contact information and should call me immediately. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Hyatt Place Ridgeland. Stay at another property.

Pleasantly Surprised…read more My stay at this hotel was a pleasant surprise from the moment I booked. I reserved the room through the app as a Gold member, which comes with a few perks, and since I only needed the room for one night, the process was simple and convenient. I arrived around 3:00 PM and was greeted promptly by the front desk. I planned to check in at that time but was told it would be about five more minutes while they finished preparing the room--no problem at all. I decided to head to the conference I was in town for and returned later that evening around 7:30 PM. At that time, there was quite a crowd checking in and only one person working the front desk, which resulted in a short wait. Despite that, the check-in process went smoothly. I was informed that the in-person room rate was higher than what I had booked online; however, as a Gold member, they honored the original price. That genuinely surprised me, as I've never experienced that level of consideration before. Once in the room, there were a few details that kept the stay from being a full five-star experience. Upon entry, there was a noticeable damp, stuffy smell--possibly due to the apartment-style layout. Additionally, a bit more attention to cleaning would have helped: there was a broken fingernail on the floor, hair on the sofa, and a food stain on the dresser. Nothing major, but noticeable, especially since I had been told the room was being cleaned several hours earlier. From that point on, however, everything was excellent. Breakfast the next morning was a standout. While it was standard hotel fare, it was clearly prepared with care and had great flavor. On a cold winter morning, the hot breakfast, along with coffee, tea, juice, muffins, oatmeal, eggs, and a full breakfast bar, was both comforting and impressive. Overall, aside from those few minor issues, I truly enjoyed my stay and would absolutely stay here again. With a bit more attention to detail in room cleaning and additional front desk staffing during peak check-in times, this hotel could easily deliver a consistent five-star experience.

The staff were extremely polite to him and he just loved all of their kindness as well as did we. Extremely questionable customer service that led to the worst experience that I've ever had at a Hilton property. I stayed here twice in late November 2020. No issues the first time, yet the following week (while staying on Hilton points), the staff's true nature reared its ugly side. After checking into room #310 via the Hilton app, I discovered that the room was actually a smoking room since it smelled like cigars, marijuana, mildew, and stinky sex. I took only one step inside of the doorway, and completely noped out- nope, nope, NOPE! Not gonna sleep here tonight. I indicated this to the front desk agent Brittany, of which she told me that she not only couldn't switch me into a non-smoking room, but that she wouldn't! Perplexed, I asked a different question, to which she yelled at me "THAT'S WHAT I TOLD YOU!!!" Surprised, I indicated that I would contact the Hilton Diamond Desk, as well as the corporate office. Agent Brittany said "YOU GO ON AND DO THAT!" Surprised, I walked over to the lobby and spent an hour with the Diamond Desk getting switched into a non-smoking room that I wound up accessing with the Hilton app's mobile key. This room on the other side of the building turned out to be just fine, and with no issues. I received an email the next day from the GM Marcella "Marcy" Jackson, apologizing and promising to refund my Hilton points. This ultimately never happened, which was surprising. I emailed Marcy about two weeks later asking her of the status of my points refund, of which I never received a reply. A few days later, I had to contact the Diamond Desk AGAIN to explain the situation, which led to obtaining my points refund (took all of 5 minutes to receive). What's ultimately strange about Marcy's silence is that I spoke to her in person regarding the ugly customer service performance by her agent the next morning, and was polite enough to ask her to address the situation with the unprofessional agent as a training experience. Aside from the nonexistent and unprofessional customer service, the property itself isn't bad. The furniture is slightly dated, yet the location is at the end of a line of hotels within the Ridgeland area of Jackson. Cleanliness or comfort are not the primary issues here- its the customer service. In all honesty, I truly believe that this property's employees think & operate as if this Homewood Suites is a cheap, run down hooker motel rather than a Hilton property. The current staff really doesn't give a damn about their customers here.

The facility itself is in no way representative of a Hilton hotel. On the first night, five of the six elevators were out of order. This Hilton seemed nice, and for the most part it is. Literally right off the highway so it's an easy reach. The staff were all friendly, the lobby is really nice and the archetecural details around the building show at one point this place was an exceptionally nice hotel. But time and horrible management have left the building literally falling down, breaking down, and simply ignored to the point that it just gives you a kind of "ick" feeling. When we pulled up we saw a sign on the side of the building that said it had a jazz piano bar. That sounded great, my wife and I enjoy a cocktail with some quiet jazz piano. When we asked where it was, we were told they hadn't had that in quite some time now. The pianos are still on the floor, shoved into corners, ignored and collecting dust. Check in was simple, the ride up to our room as a challenge as only 1 of the 4 elevators were functional and a sign displayed in front of the only working one stated to not load more than six into it when it finally did arrive at your floor. Took a few minutes but we got to the room. We opted for a suite because I've been suffering from sleep issues so I wanted a seperate room I could go to so I didn't disturb my wife while she slumbered and this room had it. A living room, which a couch, chair, table and what I assumed was a TV to keep myself occupied while I tried to sleep. Two bathrooms, both were clean. The master bath had a jacuzzi tub and a walk in shower. As we unpacked I did note one of the big highback chairs and the couch were both horribly stained. My wife saw both and commented she wouldn't be sitting on either of those. We unpacked, relaxed for a bit then headed down for a drink and decide where we were going to eat. The bar is just off the lobby, a nice young lady was the bartender and immedietly gave us the menus when we sat. Oh, I forgot to mention it was almost a fifteen minute wait for the elevator from our floor to the lobby. Once we got to the bar we were only a minute away from the end of happy hour. After explaning the delay the bartender allot us more time to decide while keeping us within the happy hour pricing. Food options were either the pub food at the bar, or the seafood place next door which is run by the hotel. Even though there is a restaurant within the hotel, they only serve breakfast and lunch. Though we do enjoy seafood we opted to just sit at the bar and eat pub food. And what we got was most certainly pub food. Deep fried everything that tasted like it came right from a box, to the fryer, to our plates. It was good, but not great. Exactly what you would normally eat when throwing back a few cocktails while watching the world cup on the two working TV's they had at the bar (There were three, but only two worked) The liquar selection looked pretty pitiful. I noticed two wine fridges off to the side so asked the bartender what she had in those. She stated she wasn't sure, she didn't have the keys to them. Here's the story we heard about what's happening at this hotel. The hotel had been taken over by a different owner who seemed to not have much interest in actually running a hotel. The broken elevators have been a thing for awhile and nobody had been called to fix them yet. And as I stated earlier, the hotel is clean. It is obviously not well maintained or the areas that were fixed, were done so with minimul attention. (Photos will show what I mean). We utiliazed the jacuzzi tub that night, after it drained there was a dark ring left around the tub. No, we are not filthy people. That level of dirt can only come off a person working in the yard all day. This was not just a dirt, it was a weird dark foam left around the entire tub. I cleaned it all off and ran the tub again, filling it to the same level and the same ring was left around the tub even when it was empty. (see photos). What's in the Jackson water I wonder for this to be coming out of the faucet. There is a small TV mounted next to the tub a bit high on the wall. No remote to control it. The recessed lighting above the tub had no covers over the bulbs like they do in the walk in shower, so exposed electrical is staring at you while you sit in a large tub of water. Sagging drywall, dirty drywall on ceilings in both bathrooms (see photos) Drywall patchwork horribly done. A missing TV in the living room where OBVIOUSLY there was one at some point as there is a TV cable line running behind where it should be. Overall it's just a good hotel. The staff is nice, the food we had was okay. It most certainly needs maintanence. Alot of it. Put the TV back in the living room of the suite and clean the cushions. But I get the feeling, nobody is listening and its just going to continue to get worse. Find a different place, if you can't it's not a terrible spot.
