First and foremost, all reviews prior to the ones posted in 2023 are of Rodgers Automotive under the old ownership. To my knowledge, even the ones done in 2023 were posted during the transition period from the old owner to the current owner. The new owner's name is Nick. He is also the head mechanic. He and his staff are excellent: personable, attentive, and knowledgeable! Their prices are affordable, and their work is superb! Nick is able to explain his work with great specificity. We went to Rodgers for the first time for an AC replacement in 2023 after moving to the area and have been back for routine maintenance, such as oil changes. Of particular note, something BAD happened under the hood of our old Tiguan. We first brought it to the Volkswagen dealership. Conclusion, it had blown a cylinder. Repairs, replacement of the engine, were cost prohibitive. We brought it to Nick for a second opinion. At that time, honestly, it had been quite awhile since we used his services (as we also use the dealerships for some things). He confirmed their findings in about 30 minutes. We then went to pay him, and he would not hear of it despite our insisting to pay him something. He actually said that he did not want to add insult to injury and that he strives to run his business and treat his customers in an - and I quote - "ethical" way. Unbelievable, right, especially given the reputation mechanics historically have? He is a good man. During the extended transition period of the business from the old owner to Nick, they "evidently", thoroughly cleaned the office and though it was the old look, it was charming, comfortable, and odorless. Since then, that is, since the full transfer of the business over to Nick, they have totally remodeled the office - it is now a bit like a waiting room at a dealership - and improved and expanded the property (razed that old vine-covered house) and modernized the garages. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND, at least, this version of Rodgers Automotive and its current ownership! (All that said, I know it is after the fact and does not really much matter in the relative spectrum of things, but I feel compelled to defend Nick's predecessor, whom I never met, on one point, at least. After all, it was still technically that guy's business that I first visited, and I found the office with all the old model and diecast toy cars and photos and signage from down through the years,... nay,... decades to be very quaint and not at all dirty and smelly (maybe a little dusty). When one states that "The price was fine and the work was as well," but gives the business a one-star rating, as one reviewer did here, that is a bit absurd. spent $200 in towing it there and back and wasted 2 months of my insurance policy without so much as an estimate. I called all the time and got every back burner excuse you could get. Very unprofessional and zero communication I can't stress enough to not go here. I assume they prioritize higher value clients over others and they take on waaaay too much work. The price was fine and the work was as well, but I would NEVER return to this shop. They smoke heavily in the office and there are tons of cats roaming around in the office. I thought I was going to need a Benadryl IV after leaving (I'm allergic to both smoke and cats). It also looked like it had not been cleaned in 20 years. The staff is also very unfriendly. If you aren't going to have to sit and wait for your car, it might be okay...but again they were the rudest mechanics and staff I've ever dealt with. 0 stars. Warning - DO NOT bring your vehicle here if you expect honest service or professionalism! I called and specifically stated that I inspected my SUV the day prior and need my fuel pump replaced. The owner (or head mechanic) agreed they would put my SUV on a lift and drop the fuel tank to verify and make the repair needed. He made it seem like this was no problem at all and never mentioned any type of charge to assess the repair needed during the phone call. When I dropped off the keys to the lady at the front desk there was no mention of a charge either, even after I specifically asked if there was anything I needed to know and looked around the office for posted signs, etc... She was VERY unwelcoming and made it seem like I was bothering her tremendously by simply dropping off my keys. At the end of the day I receive a call notifying me they were unable to source AN ENTIRE GAS TANK and would not be able to repair the vehicle. Again, I SPECIFICALLY stated when I called ahead that I had already inspected the gas tank and this was not the issue. So I went to pick up my vehicle and they demanded $60 for literally looking underneath my car and that's it. They did not drop the gas tank like I ask and we agreed they would. As I'm standing in the front office, they state "we have signs up stating this policy" - I ask them to show me and they were unable, silent at me calling their bluff. They were rude, confrontational, and stated how some other part not even related to the repair needed was like $600 "even if they could find a replacement gas tank", etc... Total waste of time and money - RIP OFF. I can't believe this place is still in business. Recommendation - take your vehicle to Clark Browning in West Frankfort - total opposite experience. I took my SUV there next - super nice staff, professional, and replaced my fuel pump like I asked without issue and verified the gas tank was fine. I have been dealing with Rodgers Automotive for about 18 years now.I go to get my car and truck repaired, not to check on how clean the place is.They stand behind their work and correct anything overlooked at no charge to the customer. Always treated me rite. Never been rude to me. But I've had times they were trying to find parts and did not have time to talk. Just taking care of business. Witch was o k with me. I went there to get things fixed. And they did it at a reasonable price. 18yrs and no complaints yet. I will keep going to Rodgers as long as he is there. F.Pitz read more

If I could do negative starts I would. Rudest people I've ever met. If your female don't even consider this place,, they will try to rip you off completely. Smoking in the office-not only gross but rude to the customers. Feel bad for the secretary who said she's quit for 5 years and has to deal with them around her doing it. The other old women secretary is as hateful as it gets. When I came there (with diagnosed codes) just to see what they charge to fix it, they had me leave my car- from 10am and I called at least 5 times asking about my car- wasn't even looked at till 3:30. Then they charged me for codes I brought in. Very unprofessional, rude, and unsanitary. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. read more

Needed to have about $2k in front end work done on my truck after it was hit in Atlanta. Rodgers worked things out with the insurance company, did a great job on the repair, and ordered/replaced the front bumper. I couldn't be happier! read more
