I, too, am surprised by all the negative comments. We did our daughter's wedding flower from here and they were gorgeous. The colors of the flowers plus all the details that went into the arrangements were perfect. When the wedding party came back into town for photos, Mary sprinkled some rose petals on the street for them to walk on for pictures. It was such a sweet touch. I would suggest that you reconsider using Rodier's. They were a dream to work with. yesterday i ordered 3 small flower arrangements to be picked up today. I was VERY specific about flower, color and overall content...showed them a picture. I wanted peonies and was told they are $10 a stem...i said okay 3 stems per with greens...good to go. i wanted pink and green and maybe a LITTLE white to fill in. I arrived to find the most horrendous arrangements i've ever seen...NOT ONE flower was what I asked for...two types of large hydrangeas in small container with two light pink chrysanthemums. SO UGLY. drove to stop and shop, bought to bunches of peonies for $20, tossed the white HUGE hydrangeas and hopefully it works. ANYTHING, including a barebones party table would have been better than those ghastly arrangements. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews but this place cannot be serious. I ordered a Pastel Party Bouquet for my wife for Mother's Day. It was her first Mother's Day, so I upgraded to the deluxe. With tax, delivery fee, and tip it was $161.39. The photos below show the STANDARD arrangement on their website versus the photo of what I actually received. I genuinely thought it was a joke. Sparse, small arrangement, unbloomed flowers, even the filler was substituted for a cheaper fern. The white vase? Nope. Gray plastic. This literally looks like something I could've picked in a field. I called that same day to let them know I wanted my money back. They told me the owner wasn't there. Monday I received a voicemail from the owner that she wanted to "set things straight." No apology. I called back 90 min later and was told she left early for the day but that she'd call me first thing tomorrow. Anticipating the call would be an offer to send me another arrangement, I informed them the only conversation I was interested in having was that she'd be refunding my money. Today came and went. No call. I'm disputing the charge. In my opinion this is borderline fraud. Will never use this shop again. Ordered through Newtown Florist, and the order was fullfilled by Rodier Flowers. Buyer Beware, don't order flowers this is the worst florist Rodier Florist! I ordered flowers from Long Island to my Mother in Brewster NY for her birthday. I told her I wanted a bouquet with roses and spent 158.00, and 25.00 from that was for delivery. They sent my Mom a small bouquet with 6 carnations and filler flowers. When I called to ask about the flowers the person said it was small because of the decorative vase, I told her I was told they were going to be roses. The bouquet looks like it is worth maybe 50.00. The woman came to my Mother's house and dropped off 4 orange roses, which did not match the bouquet. When my Mom questioned her giving her only 3 orange roses, she became defensive and rude. They are scammers. Don't EVER BUY FROM THEM. It's so sad this bouquet was supposed to be special for my Mom's birthday!! read more

Out of state relative ordered flowers--a huge double bouquet--not knowing we had left for our summer place. Rodier delivered the expensive bouquet without calling us first. We're talking a couple hundred dollars. They did not call us to confirm when we'd be home, even though it was a time that many townspeople begin vacation. You'd think at Rodier's price point they'd understand who their customers are, and a bit about their habits. So there's lazy marketing in the background too, along with the laziness of not bothering to call. Rodier does not make a habit of calling first to make sure you're home. You get that from fancy florists elsewhere. It seems irresponsible not to call, given the prices. Our expensive flowers sat in front of our door in the heat for weeks. Not only were the flowers ruined--and a waste of money for a relative who is not wealthy but was being generous--they alerted any interested burglar that our house was empty. There were other delivery problems, too, which I won't go into. At the prices Rodier charges, delivery should be seamless. It is instead problematic. We ordered what was supposed to be a large, colorful basket arrangement for my best friend's wake. What I saw shocked me. A small vase arrangement of 12 flowers plus greens. We paid $170. I tried to work with the owner to either receive some money back or send a bouquet to my friend's daughters. Before she hung up on me, her words were "it's not going to happen." We ordered a bouquet of flowers for our mother's 100th birthday. We selected new sensations off of their website and paid for the second most expensive level. The flowers, as delivered, were beautiful and we can strongly recommend this florist. A side note: we were sent a picture of the bouquet and it looked terrible. We called the owner who was very nice and professional. She had personally put the arrangement together and described something completely different than the picture we received. Some friends ordered a bouquet to be delivered to a friend recovering from surgery. The arrangement was left up to them, but stargazer lilies were requested. The cost was $85 which included tax and delivery. When our friend sent a picture of what was delivered, we were shocked and embarrassed. The bouquet was tied together with a rubberband and looked like something from a supermarket. It was a small orange fall arrangement with orange tiger lilies that you could pick from the side of the road. Honestly, we thought that perhaps this was meant for someone else. When we called to inquire we were not even offered an apology much less a replacement bouquet. We feel this florist is only interested in the money and not in pleasing their customers. Single handedly the worst florist I've ever ordered from. I ordered the most expensive bouquet of roses and lillies for my mother for her birthday. Not only did they fail to deliver them (despite the $13 delivery fee I paid), the bouquet had no lillies and was sickeningly underwhelming. I bought the most upgraded floral arrangement available. My mother is so lovely and went and picked the flowers up herself, and sent me a picture of the arraignment. Though she was so appreciative of the thought, the bouquet was made up of the cheapest flowers and had ZERO lillies in it. My mother's favorite flower is the Lilly. She loves the smell. I paid extra for lillies for my mother. She received trash. Next time I'll just get flowers transported out to her from NYC from a reputable florist. Never. Ever. Maybe future experiences would be better here, but I only have the one to go by. They ran out of what I ordered but never told me. When I emailed the photos and called to discuss, I was told many things including that we all experience disappointments and boy isn't that the theme of this experience between the product and excuses. Without softening the rationale we discussed how: 1. The online shop did not accurately reflect their stock since they ran out of the product I ordered and chose to not inform me after I purchased. 2. I should have called them to avoid #1 instead of ordering online 3. They didn't cancel the order out of kindness because it was so close to the date and if they didn't show this kindness, where would I be? 4. The value and the colors are all the same 6. It's a 5" vase/roses instead of other flowers so it's more 7. What was I expecting, a 2' arrangement? 8. You should have opted out of substitutions, but because you didn't, you get what you get. (Side note: I double checked the website, and there is no option to opt out of substitutions). We trust that when you select substitutions, you know it. (How could I if there's no option to de-select it? Response: you should have called us instead.) I can see the justification in some of these, but at the end of the day, I would have preferred to be aware that they had run out and could not provide what I had ordered instead of being blind-sided. read more

Rather than offer a long, detailed summary of my experiences with this florist, I will distill it down to some descriptive bullet points: * Each of the flower arrangements I've purchased from Rodier wilted much sooner than comparable arrangements I have purchased from other florists. This includes long stem roses that didn't last a week - several were gone in two days; and expensive Calla Lilies, which arrived already browning at the edges and died shortly thereafter. * Rodier managed to deliver the wrong arrangement for a special occasion - an occasion for which the incorrect arrangement was simply a lame substitute for what was expected. * Rodier was ineffectual in customer service - my call was not returned and required a follow-up call. * On the plus side, the shop is attractive enough, and they sometimes have a few nice orchids available in the store. Overall, based on my experience, Rodier needs better detail management, and better rotation of their stock (or a better supplier.) read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I used this florist to send flowers to my parents for their 30th anniversary and what they received was absolutely TERRIBLE!! I told the florist that I wanted a bright, beautiful bouquet of Tulips (it's tulip season and my mother's favorite flower) and other bright colored flowers at their discretion- just something bright and festive for the occasion. For the $125 that I spent there, my mother received probably $40 worth of hideous, white, already wilting flowers. When I saw the flowers the day after she received them, I was totally appalled, it was NOTHING I ASKED FOR AT ALL, and certainly not worth the money I spent! I was so disappointed that I called the florist and complained. The woman offered to replace the flowers with a new bouquet that she claimed followed my specifications-- again, bright and cheery. The second one was almost as bad as the first bouquet they sent! This time, the flowers were a dead-colored pink, once again about to wilt, and looked like a funeral bouquet more than anything. If I could, I would have gotten a refund-- the flowers they sell at the GROCERY STORE in my town are nicer than what my mother received from the florist. This is my first-ever Yelp review. I cannot let Rodier Flowers get away with what they've done. I called on Monday afternoon to place a gift order for an old friend's birthday. She lives in the Ridgefield area. When asked if there was anything I had in mind, I said, "Yes, I have something very specific in mind." And then proceeded to describe the arrangement that I think my friend would like best: a glass cube vase filled with blue and green blooms. I said that I love the look of a green rose but realize they are not commonplace and they might not have them in stock. The woman on the phone said that they had some Green Hydrangea, which I told her would be perfect with some other blues and greens. The minimum cost for an arrangement here is $50. They added a delivery fee and my bill came to something like $65 or $68. They assured me that it would be delivered that evening. I was delighted. Then my friend sent me a gracious note of thanks with a photo of the "arrangement". I was horrified. I quickly noted that it wasn't at all what I'd ordered but was glad she enjoyed it. She added that the vase was very pretty. I immediately emailed Rodier with this comment: Dear Rodier, My friend just sent me a photo of the arrangement you delivered. I must say that it is not at all what I described as, "Blues and Greens, in a glass cube." I said that I loved the idea of the Pale Green Hydrangea or Iris, but a single wilting, Hot Pink Gerbera? I simply can't imagine how you arrived at this selection. I also think that the proportion of the few skimpy blooms is positively dwarfed by the vase. I question your design sense here. I am sorry to say that I am a very disappointed customer. In both messages she asked for my friend's telephone number to, wait for it, EXCHANGE the gift. My response was this: Mary, I got your telephone messages. I am just shaking my head here. Let me get this straight. You had a summer part-timer design the arrangement. You didn't approve her work. She not only didn't abide by my wishes, she created an embarrassingly poor, and incidentally stingy, design because she chose the wrong vase. You allowed it to be delivered to my friend. And now you want to call my friend on the phone to ask her to give it back? When do you own the series of blunders and take responsibility? Please do not add insult to injury here and contact my friend in any way. I am finding it difficult to understand how you remain solvent if this is the manner in which you conduct business. Lori I hadn't caught her in time. She had, in fact already done the switch before 2:30 that afternoon. My third email was this: Mary, I have had time to consider this wildly ridiculous series of events. The only thing you got right on the order was the glass cube and my friend liked it despite the absurd arrangement inside. When I wrote to you detailing your mistakes you chose to embarrass me further. Instead of discussing it with me or simply delivering my order as it was intended, you realized how much the Mercury Glass vase cost you and demanded it back. Mindboggling. I wonder how much it would cost you if I were to recount these events on Yelp.com and other Customer Review sites. The only acceptable remedy would be for you to wait a week or two and then present my friend with the Mercury Glass vase (that she thought belonged to her) and fill it with an abundant mound of White Daisies, or Baby's Breath or some such inexpensive bloom that would create an ample arrangement with pleasing proportions. And a brief note of apology. Please respond to this email via email, and send me delivery confirmation on this delivery. NEVER BUY ANYTHING from this florist. My daughter's boyfriend bought her a $55 corsage for the John Jay Junior Prom last Saturday. Every rose but two fell off!!! The first one within fifteen minutes. We had to glue gun two back on and as the night progressed the others fell off. Also the flowers were so poorly attached to the bracelet that we had to use twist ties to keep it on. Last year my sister sent my elderly mother flowers Mothers day, when I sent a picture of them to her she stated that it was not what she had ordered, she called Teleflora and complained, they sent another arrangement from another florist in town and they were beautiful. Yesterday my sister again sent my mother an arrangement from Rodier Flowers in Ridgefield Ct, and again they were nothing like what she had ordered. She sent the picture to Teleflora and they were appalled, they sent my mother another arrangement from another florist and they were beautiful. Hopefully now Teleflora will take this florist off their list as the arrangements are carelessly put together with wilting flowers. NEVER order from this place!! read more

I ordered $100 worth of flowers for my mother for mothers day. She was a floral designer so I specifically asked for something unique, no carnations or tulips. My mother received the arrangement, it was so poor and contained the aforementioned flowers, she thought it cost $30, I was so embarrassed. She returned it to the shop, spoke with the owner who said it would be redone and she apologized. Guess what, it showed up the next day with a flower or two removed, same arrangement. My mother brought it back AGAIN. She was promised that my credit card would be reimbursed. Two months later, I have seen nothing. A low class florist who hires help that is not capable and makes promises they do not keep. STAY AWAY. What was supposed to special turned into a nightmare for my 75 year old mother. read more
