I used the gardening service from Jose for about 15 months to do a monthly maintenance on our rental home for the Front and Rear Yard for $95/month. The initial was a clean up from them which cost $190 to clean out about 2 months of weeds that had grown since we rented the house out. Since it's a rental home, I required photos to be sent to me when service was done via text. I then paid promptly the same day, and never late. However, the past few months, no photos were sent and I had to remind Jose that I needed photos. The last straw was when he sent me a Venmo request without any photos. For the last 15 months, no Venmo request was ever sent to me because I promptly paid on the day of service. I ended the service as of today. read more

I'm incredibly impressed with Jose and his team! I quickly realized that I couldn't manage an acre property by myself and I let the yard get out of control. Called Jose and he came by a few hours later to walk the property with me and gave me a SUPER reasonable quote for getting my place in order and regular maintenance. I was looking for someone that not only was doing my front and backyard, but also to service 3 of my neighbors as well. We contacted Jose Rodriquez for landscaping service of our front yard. A person named Arturo who we believed to be a Rodriguez employee began doing our yard and it looked great for several months - couldn't be happier. Unfortunately Arturo disappeared sometime in February - a month goes by with no show no call, nothing. I called Jose only to learn that he had actually given our account to Arturo and now Arturo has disappeared and Jose too has been unable to contact him for a few weeks. My first thought (after WTH???) was to wonder why would he give our account to Arturo without telling us what is going on and my second thought (after WTH'ing some more) is why didn't Jose contact us when Arturo went AWOL. We are done with Jose Rodriquez and the new guy he tried to send to us this week. Not a good way to do business on any level to leave a customer hanging like this - especially one who was paying on time two months in advance. (Edited Wed 3/22) No way Jose - not true. You never told either of us that Alturo was not your employee - this was a big surprise for both of us to learn this week. You can't say you have nothing to do with him because YOU sent him out after we contacted YOU after finding your company here on Yelp. We never agreed to be handed off to someone that YOU chose for us. We also handed this person a check for every payment, made out to Rodiguez Garden and Maintenance - how did he cash them? Quick to reply, quick to schedule, and solid workers. Jose quoted me a very fair price for a clean up job at my house that had been neglected for months. His crew worked a whole day and hauled away all debris (8k sq.ft lot). The team were all very polite, courteous and knowledgeable. They know their business and do it well. I called Jose on a Sunday morning and left a message after another gardener had no call no show on me Friday. Jose called me back within 20 minutes and said that he could make it over later in the day to give me an estimate on what I needed done. He was running a bit late, but he communicated with me that he was and that he would be there soon. He got here and gave me a quote and I asked him when he could start. My back and front yard was like a jungle, no kidding. He arranged to do part of the job on Wednesday and then come back the following week to finish up. That was all fine. I came home from work Wednesday afternoon, and I could see the ground again!! The job was not completed yet but at least I wasn't looking at dead overgrown weeds anymore that was as tall as me!! So happy with my lawn! We moved into a place with an overgrown lawn and wild landscaping and a series of unfortunate events left to us neglecting it even more. It was bad, really bad. Jose came out the SAME DAY we called to give us an estimate. He quoted us a price for the initial clean-up and then for monthly maintenance, all reasonable prices. He was originally set to come on Sunday, but had time earlier in the week and contacted us to make sure we were ok with the earlier date. He arrived, let me know he was here, and spent 5 hours with his partner clearing, mowing, weed whacking...it was a lot of work. It was also wet/rainy and on the chilly side, but Jose said he wanted to try and get it done anyways. Let me tell you, my lawn looks amazing. They did a fantastic job and made sure my walkways were clear and all the waste was hauled away. Super efficient and friendly, too. I called Rodriguez Garden & Maintenance yesterday out of desperation when my brand new lawnmower out of the box wouldn't start and my newly laid lawn was so tall that the sprinklers were barely watering it and I was worried about waiting longer to figure out the mower situation. I got a call back right away and luckily they were in my area and could squeeze me in that day. The guys came and did a fantastic job! The grass was so tall that they had to go over it many times to get it down- but they did and it looks beautiful! They took care to trim the edges, blew all the cut grass clippings and cut the lawn to a perfect height. I'm so happy with the work and so grateful they saved my new lawn! Run not just walk away from this service!!! Decided to hire him after reading the positive reviews on Yelp, but Jose turned out to be a disappointment. The first time he came was great! But the guy whom Jose claimed to be his friend was the hard worker. He trimmed the vines in my backyard and did an excellent job.Jose decided to prune my roses when I just rpuned them. The week Jose came back, he was alone. He told me his friend had been drinking and in no shape to work. I felt like telling him I'm no Dr. Phil, and he should fix his problem prior to coming to work. In spite of the fact my grass needed cutting, he was only edging around it. I came out to tell him the tree in my backyard need some pruning. Immediately he said: "oh, that's too tall! I'd need a ladder. I also would need the trimmer. The day he came in, he was driving a car, he didn't even have a lawn mower!!! And he called himself a gardener. Then he dropped what he's doing, and told me he'll come back with his tools. He never did. Like I said...he's not the guy if you want a good gardener. Called Jose and he called me back the same afternoon. He arranged to drop by the next afternoon, gave me a quick fair quote for what needed to be done (a MAJOR cleanup of front and back yards with tree pruning!) He arranged to return the next afternoon to do the job. He and his associate were professional and detail oriented (Jose even repaired a broken sprinkler. I hadn't asked him to do that.) There was also an overgrown shrub in the front yard which blocked 3/4ths of my walkway. I asked Jose to remove it, and 15 minutes later it was gone and the site was cleaned-up. Recently moved to Concord, and was looking for a quick clean up job in my backyard. I went to my trusted yelp app as I always do when looking for services. I called, he came the same day and gave me an estimate and said he would return the next day to do the job.I was very pleased with his demeanor and politeness. THe next day however, I stayed home waiting for him to show up and he never showed up!!! whats worse is I didnt even get a call ! That is truly unprofessional, and I would expect at least an apology and a date to reschedule if something came up. But to just not show is is RUDE! I cleaned up my dog droppings in the morning from my dog to make sure his crew would not step on any and have an easier time cleaning up. Did I mention I have two small kids! I dont have time to clean up all the time, but I made the time so that Jose would have an easier job cleaning up the debris in my backyard. Do not use this guy, maybe he thought he wouldnt get much money from this job and decided to just not show up? who knows, but Im getting a different gardener. Sucks for him, we were going to use his service for monthly maintenance after this job. Guess he doesnt want our business. Seems Im not the only customer he has left hanging from the other reviews I read on yelp. Update : A second person from his crew came two days later and started pickinng up debris, he told my husband something went wrong with one of his machines and that he would return the next day. He NEVER came back. There is still left over debris in my backyard. Therefore a comeback date was confirmed and they still did not show the next day as promised. I have had Jose for almost a year for lawn service and his lawn service is the best by far. He has done my lawn service at my house and many other projects which have turned out great. Everytime I needed anything from quotes to projects completed he showed up that day I called. If any issues with lawn care he fixes it that day. Horrible service. Don't use this company. I live in Clayton and was looking for a good yard maintenance company and trusted the reviews on Yelp. I hired this company maybe 6 months ago and my yard looks terrible. It actually looks like I don't have anyone maintaining it, when in fact this company comes every other week. Everything in my yard is overgrown, there are weeds everywhere and in my front yard there were huge weeds that they never sprayed until they were told to do it. Then the only thing they did was cut the weeds and left all the dead plant material where it fell. This company was fired today and should have been fired months ago. read more

Oh happy day. Jose came over today with 2 of his workers at 7:30 a.m. (as we had arranged) and totally transformed my weed infested front and back yards. They had been left on their own for months and were a total embarrassment. All yard debris was hauled off leaving me with nothing but a skill and 2 clean yards.
