We took bids for our project and ultimately selected Rod's Painting. Initial communication was consistent, though slightly difficult due to broken English. We navigated the terms, set a date of Dec. 5, signed the proposal, and sent the $1500 deposit. On Monday, Dec. 1, Rod text requesting the color swatches. I shared with him that they were included on the proposal that we had signed and returned, but also text him the color details again, sharing that they were Sherwin Williams Duration Exterior. This resulted in a phone call, during which Rod reassured me that though they wouldn't be using Sherwin Williams, their finish would last 8+ years in the desert heat and winds. I shared that I trusted him as the expert and requested that my wife and I send an updated swatch considering he said he could match any color. He said that would be OK and requested we get him the colors the next day. I went to sleep that night and woke up the next morning to a text from our bank, letting us know that the deposit of $1500 was returned. I immediately called him, but there was no answer. I followed up with a text and he replied that we couldn't agree on the type of paint. I followed up, sharing that we had agreed and that I trusted his word regarding the paint they planned to use. I never received a response. They cancelled and ghosted us 3 days before they were supposed to begin the project. read more

Rod and his crew were very efficient, set a fair price, and got my job done quickly. I received a violation from my HOA for repainting my shutters and removing oil stains. Rod was able to complete these tasks plus I asked him to please remove the satellite dishes from the roof. Rod provided the paint, patched up everything, and was able to grind off the oil stains. I would highly recommend Rod and his company and will definitely book him again for future painting jobs. read more

Rod is great to work with. He painted interior, exterior, cabinets and did a bunch of other things. His pricing is very fair but more importantly the quality is great. I'm a real estate agents. I see repainted cabinets a lot. I have never seen a job done better. Cabinets look new. He has worked with us every step of the way to make adjustments to things. He did a ton of extra work for us. Says he came to my house, and we were not there. However my wife was working in the garage, doors open, and you come up the driveway to access the front door. She did not see him. Rod responded quickly to a request for a quote to get my shutters, gate, and garage painted. He advised us on how to get the colors from our HOA and wanted us know to know we should get that approved first (although the HOA required that we repaint). Rod was the most-reasonable bid on a multi-bid job with significant work to be done on a 4 BR 2.5 Ba 2000+ sq ft home. There were lower bids, there were many more bids that were higher, some guys showed up in fancy jacked-up trucks (one guy was a Star Wars fanatic and had his car painted like he was cosplaying Darth Vader every day driving to work) all these yahoos trying to over-bid thinking their cache and suave vehicles were going to sell them... It was ROD'S PAINTING that got the job.... not because he drove a fancy truck, not because the youngblood attitude and "I'm important"... Rod's Painting got the job because he showed up on time, with a hard-working crew ready to work and his bid was on the lower end (not the cheapest). See photos. Responded quickly and arrived early for the quote. The quote was a GREAT price. He said he would show up on July 27 around 7 a.m. I contacted him to make sure he was coming, and he said that was waiting for confirmation. We'll if he had texted or called at any time in the past week, I would have confirmed. I foolishly assumed that if I had a time and date, that was it (for painters and other crafts jobs, that is). My review isn't about the quality of the work, it is about this company's business practices. On the day that he was to start the project, he sent me a text stating that he was going to send the written proposal, but the amount he stated was $650 more than what he verbally quoted at our home. I had noted the amount and what was to be included when he was at our home. So I sent him a copy of the note, he then said, okay if that is what I quoted then that is what it is. But then added that he wanted to charge an additional $300 because he will need to make several trips to our home to complete the project. He knew where we lived when he bid the job, nothing had changed, it is unacceptable to increase the cost the morning he is to start the job. Due to this, we decided to not have him do the painting and learned an important lesson, we will find a company who will put it in writing immediately upon bidding it. So my advice is, if you hire this company, insist on a written bid immediately so that he doesn't increase the price when it is time to do the job. read more
