I was looking for a new dentist as my old dentist office got lazy. Anytime I would go to my old dentist, I would dread going because I would be in so much pain after my teeth cleaning. I can tell you Dr Tawa's office is night and day with service. They are honest, caring, and I don't have anymore pain after a cleaning like my old dentist. My old dentist also told me I needed to remove a tooth but upon inspection, Dr Tawa informed me the tooth was perfectly fine and there was absolutely zero reason to remove it. In this day and age it is very hard to find an honest dentist with integrity. Susie cleans my teeth and does an amazing job. Dentists can be terrifying. I've had my fair share of unpleasant experiences BUT Dr. Tawa and ALL of his staff are AMAZING!! I really feel like they try to help provide the best care and they are so friendly! I got lucky! I appreciate their care so much I even recommended my mother to them! They will really work to accommodate your needs and work with your insurance and financial capabilities. This review is long overdue! I've been going to Dr. Tawa for more than 15 years now and won't see anyone else. He's incredibly patient and knowledgeable and truly cares about his patients - as does his staff. I also experienced a traumatic fall a few years back and thanks to Dr. Tawa, was able to save my front teeth. He calmly explained everything to me (and answered my many questions), supported me throughout the entire experience, which involved seeing an oral surgeon, and perfectly restored my teeth with crowns. I was referred to Dr Tawa office by a coworker living in San Clemente. She would drive here since Dr Tawa was so careful with her teeth and gums. The staff is friendly and very efficient. Susie will ask you what day of the week and the time you prefer, she is awesome with the reminders, and excellent scheduling. Most times, I just get escorted in for my cleaning (no wait...yea!!!!). The hygienist are very through, and yet have a soft touch. My gums are not left sore and bleeding, even when I was taking the baby aspirin. I am impressed the team take accurate notes on your teeth and gums. Through the years, they have given me helpful hints to keep my gums healthy, and they check the next visit. Dr Tawa does so much more than any of my previous dentist on top of the standard items. He checks my jaw movement, lymph node, cancer screening to name a few. I used to dread going to the dentist, so much in fact I would perpetually postpone. I new I needed to go and was convinced by my sister to go to Dr Tawa. At first I was really nervous and embarrassed bc my teeth hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. But Dr and his staff made me feel comfortable right away. I had a deep cleaning and seriously the best cleaning I've ever had. When I went back for my second cleaning I only needed a regular cleaning and my gum scores, not sure the proper terminology, had improved greatly. I do have some more procedures that need to be done but I'm not terrified to go anymore. I love love love Dr Tawa and his amazing staff. WOW! What results! My teeth are actually white after one two hour session! Dr. Tawa uses the same equipment (Zoom) as with other teeth whitening facilities. But he does something notably different that yield remarkable results. Years ago, I visited a dentist and spent north of $700 for teeth whitening. There were no visible results. I complained to him and he gave me another procedure, still with nothing. Since then, I've tried various over the counter products with no success. I decided to try Dr. Tawa's office through a referral. I really feel like a different person! I'm more confident of my smile because they're no longer stained with years of coffee and tea. I've also learned that Dr. Tawa specializes in an oral appliance that addresses sleep apnea. He said that a lot of dentists don't take Medicare because it pays so little, but Dr. Tawa is one of the few offices that take Medicare. He's an expert in this field. Physicians often refer sleep apnea clients to him. He mentioned that some people have it without even knowing it. The oral appliance is quite different that the conventional equipment for sleep apnea. This was quite fascinating. read more

We moved to the South Bay 3 years ago and we are on our 3rd dentist! The previous one was the worst we've ever had and Dr. Tawa is by far the best one! His referral came to us by way of a long time patient who moved away but still comes back for treatment. He announces every single thing he's doing and explains everything he recommends. His office staff is very friendly and it is obvious that everyone enjoys working there. He is located at the end of a strip mall, but signage is minimal so can be difficult to find. But you can park right in front of the office and just a few steps will get you in the door. I give Dr. Tawa my highest recommendation. read more

I'm usually too lazy to write a review unless the service provider really screwed up, but Dr Tawa deserve a kudos for being a honest doctor. I was set to do a new crown here with Dr Tawa. After I mentioned I have irritation on the tooth sometimes, Dr Tawa insisted I went for consultation and sent me to two endodntists. I ended up getting more than two consultations with varying opinions. One of the endodntists said he couldn't see anything obviously wrong and doing a crown on it was OK. So I asked Dr Tawa to go ahead with the crown work. Again he insisted getting a written report from the endodontist before he would start any work. The endodontist eventually backtracked and said it's possible the tooth is "dirty" because root canal was done so long time ago and may need retreat. I ended up doing a retreatment which revealed there was a small crack in the root and I likely would need a implant. So Dr Tawa was right all along. Sometimes I find Dr Tawa almost 'painfully' honest by refusing to do a crown even when I was insisting, but in the end he saved me from doing a crown on a hopeless tooth that needed a implant. I can definitely recommend Dr Tawa for anyone need a honest unbiased opinion and treatment. read more

Dr. Tawa is the best dentist I have ever been to. I have been to dozens of dentist's offices never feeling comfortable or calm until I finally found Dr. Tawa. Both myself, my mom, my step dad, and my dad go to Dr Tawa because he does such great work. I refer everyone I know to go to go him. I've moved around a lot to different states and countries and every time I come visit Los Angeles I make an appointment for a cleaning and check up. I still go to Dr. Tawa's office despite living 3,000 miles away. I moved to New York about a year ago and I still won't let anyone touch my teeth but these guys. They are so accommodating and gentle with my teeth that I will continue to come here as long as possible. He has fixed botchy work on my teeth that other dentists have done and they are really great at referring other dentists for specialized work like retainers or braces. They don't pressure you to get x-rays done every 3 months like most dentists do and they always let you spit as much as you want during cleanings. It's things like this that keep me coming back. I'm very picky and get compulsive about things like spitting or wiping my mouth during the cleanings and the staff never minds my craziness. I recommend Dr Tawa for all patients, especially traumatized ones because the staff and Dr Tawa will make you so comfortable its like you are in a spa instead of the dentist. read more

In one word - phenomenal. I've been a patient of Dr Tawa from day one, when he took over this practice a few years ago. I was a patient of his predecessor since about 1970, as a child. I am delighted. He is diligent; he takes the time to explain things; he'll answer any question you have to any level of depth that you wish to go. He has a dry sense of humor that is given away by the twinkle in his eye. I've now been taking my 6 yr old son to see Dr. Tawa. I don't recall seeing lots of children as patients. Nonetheless, his skill, his style, and his demeanor, work very well with my son. When he's told that he has an upcoming dentist appointment, his reply is "Yessss! I get to see Dr Tawa tomorrow!" Most of us will go out of our way to tell our friends about a great new restaurant we found...or about the deal we found at the mall.
