She bit me badly enough that I needed stitches. We couldn't get in touch with the owners. To keep the story short, Mike (I can't remember his last name) the enforcement supervisor at the humane society managed to locate the owners and arrangements were made for us to return the dog to them in three days. However, after our second night with the dog, we acknowledged we couldn't wait that long. Mike spent his Sunday making it possible for us to immediately bring her to the county facility. I couldn't praise Mike more.

The adoption fees are very reasonable (1/2 the fee of the humane society in Medford). The animals all looked taken care of. The volunteers are knowledgeable about each of the personalities; very helpful when looking for the best fit for you/the family. I was pleasantly surprised that our 9 weeks puppy had the majority of vaccines taken care of up to 4-6months. A vet visit is included as well as: 30 days pet insurance, dog training session (in your home or at the park) and an item from the basket (toys, leash, blanket, accessories, etc). The vet confirmed that our new family member is in "perfect health" *yay*

They let us come in, accommodated the time we requested, they were kind and patient, and the vet that assisted us was very empathetic, talked me through our decision, and let me have the time I needed. They were also very reasonable on the cost. When we are ready for another family member to join our home I hope we can get into them for our veterinary needs.

Overpriced babysitters: Moved from down south and attempted to schedule routine care for my animals…read more(no luck), all appointments were only available to be booked on an "emergency" basis where the receptionist insisted you call the morning of to see if they have availability (aka they're ensuring they can collect the "emergency" fee despite the fact that you were trying to schedule an appointment for over a week.) Next, I was charged over $500 for an emergency appointment for a suspected abcess (I specifically requested radiographs, blood work, etc....the original visit did not include radiographs and they said after watching the dog all day and guaranteeing that they gave him a full "check over" and he had a full bill of health ....when I picked the dog up, they told me they had not conducted the radiographs like I originally requested and that without "sedating the dog" it would be impossible (this is complete BS. Dog is non-aggressive, 100% cooperative, and Sedating an Animal for any procedure is always the LAST RESORT!!! Sedation can cause more issues and it is not necessary to gather the required images.) So I picked up my dog and paid the $600+bill thinking he actually had a full work up....Nope, most of that bill was the upcharge for absolutely nothing. Said nothing, paid the bill and tried to leave the office, only for the receptionist to start recommending a bunch of other services and vaccinations....that should have been covered during the $600 examination I paid for. Not while I'm walking out the door....I also paid for blood work. I have yet to receive a print out, call back, or any results regarding the blood work. I actually know how to read all of the requested reports and want to see them for my own records.......Something tells me, I paid $250+ for bloodwork they never actually conducted....how would I know? They dog had no evidence of having blood drawn when I picked him up and they have yet to provide the results months later....but I digress. (That is animal #1) I called again today to attempt to schedule an emergency euthanashia or appointment for my senior dog who is in active pain. They had the audacity to act shocked that I would expect them to have avaliability on short notice, stated they wouldn't be able to schedule me for a week out, and referred me to a clinic two hours away from me. When I told them a 22 was more humane than redirecting your clients to a clinic two hours away or delaying care for over a week.... They had the audacity to act like they did not know what I was talking about.. So in short....No this office does not care about making sure they are there for you and your animals in their time of need. I have seen better bedside manner in the morgue.....I literally work at the morgue. They do have a beautiful facility, but if they're more interested in up charging clients to keep up the facade of a curb appeal rather than ensuring their client's needs are met...that's sad. At this point in time, the best solution I have found to finding reasonable Vet care for my animals is to load them up and drive them South to California.

It was a very fun and informative tour for my mom, my two teenage daughters and myself. We really enjoyed learning about how the dogs are trained and I was especially happy to learn that their dogs are all rescued from shelters! We got to meet and interact with one of their "graduates" named King and see what he can do. We all enjoyed it very much and will go back again next year. The tour was free to boot so that even made it nicer. I recommend going here to learn about these wonderful dogs and trainers.

We decided to adopt a kitty (Kit Kat), who was recovering from being spayed and a polyp removal in her nose. As per policy, we had to wait to adopt her so communicated many times with the staff to make sure we could get her. When the time came, we found the adoption process to be extremely rushed as the staff was clearly overwhelmed with all that was going on. Kit Kat had two medications that needed to be administered daily and the vet confirmed this would clear up her condition (their eyelid remaining 1/4 over eye). Two days after bringing her home, she went very lethargic, coughing and sneezing. I attempted to contact the Vet at SOHS and was denied. When I stated I only wanted to verify if this was an expectation of her recovery I was further told quite abruptly "SOHS is no longer financially responsible for animals after they are adopted". I was NOT looking for them to pay any upcoming vet bills. I was simply wanting to speak with the vet to confirm her condition. I was again denied, again reminded they are not financially responsible and asked to speak with a board member. We decided it would be best to get the cat to a vet and paid the 150.00 emergency vet bill plus medications. Turns out SOHS vet missed a polyp and she needs another surgery at the cost of $500.00. I was contacted by Ryan at the SOHS who stated they are legally not able to care for an animal once it is adopted. Understood. I asked to speak with the very who allegedly was out of cell reception. Never got a follow up call or any care or concern after speaking to them. I don't understand how complicated it is for a vet to 1) do their job effectively and 2) be able to produce communications about their surgeries and potential side effects. So my caution....DO NOT adopt a sick animal from SOHS with ANY expectation you will be shown any compassion or understanding. Had I known I would be spending over $1000.00 for a cat, I would have better prepared myself financially for it or saved for it. I am a very very strong believer in adopt not shop and this has been the worst experience doing so. My hopes, not to slander but to share my experience so others can be informed of what is going to come from SOHS once you sign that paperwork....nothing.
