Dr Hanna-Moussa is an outstanding Endocrinologist…read more As a type 1 diabetic (for 50 years), who is also on a pump, I have had many Endocrinologists in my lifetime. I rate Dr Hanna-Moussa as one of my very best--a high-performing, competent, and passionate doctor who is deeply committed to his work. I have been his grateful patient for many years. An example of his patient care is what just happened to me on my vacation to New England, when he rescued me after a Dexcom G7 BGM failed. His quick assistance and willingness to help were amazing. Here's what happened. I had packed one additional G7 for the trip. Because my current G7 got caught on clothing and was ripped off my arm, I inserted my new "spare" G7. That G7 BGM, upon insertion, had an immediate hardware failure- displaying a failed sensor; replace immediately. I had no other G7's with me. This all happened while: I was on vacation 2,800 miles away. There was a 3-hour time zone difference between Arizona and my vacation location on the East Coast. This happened at the worst of times, on a SUNDAY at 6:00 am Arizona time. Panic definitely set in. I started calling everyone. Most responses were "We are closed; call back during regular business hours, Monday through Friday." I had no other G7's with me, and Dr. Moussa's quick, remote assistance showed his genuine dedication to patient support, especially during emergencies. This level of support is truly above and beyond what most medical professionals would do, and it makes me feel deeply grateful. I want to recognize his unwavering dedication, medical wisdom, and personalized approach, and reassure potential patients of his expertise and compassionate care. Sue Wilson His office staff is just as committed to their patients and their roles, and their kindness adds to the sense of trust and reassurance I feel.

BEWARE. I do not recommend this place or Pat to anyone I care about…read more Long story short- my HRT experience here quickly turned into a nightmare. After 2 rounds of testosterone pellets and a "boost"I experienced high anxiety and suicidal thoughts. My long healthy hair began falling out dramatically. Bald patches around my temples and extreme thinning. Even my eyebrows thinned out. When I told Pat (the hormone specialist) her reaction was defensive and callus. Pat denied accountability or any connection to my symptoms. I felt alone and quickly sought out a 2nd opinion from a hormone specialist and doctor. The doctor did my labs and was alarmed at my testosterone levels. She affirmed my hair loss and mental health swings were related to the HRT. The doctor was appalled at how I was treated at Sun Wellness. She couldn't believe Pat steadily increased my testosterone doses. I paid Sun Wellness over $800 to lose my healthy head of hair and experience insane anxiety and dark thoughts. I am now paying hundreds of dollars with a new doctor to recover. Please, BEWARE I am in my 30s, active, and healthy. This experience was traumatizing and will take me months to recover and grow my hair back. Hormones are VERY important and can change your life and body, for better or worse. Be careful with who you trust and go elsewhere.

I have also moved from one state to another and switched health ins. coverage several times. Therefore, unfortunately, I have seen about a dozen Endocrinologists. Dr. Deer is one that I recognize as "not a good doctor". I put that in quotes because I'm sure he is great for some people. However, my experience with Dr. Deer was not one that I could come home and say, "Wow, (s)he is a good doc that really knows what they are doing!". Endos like that are few and far between, but they do exist. A doctor I can trust is one that thinks outside the box. They keep up on new research and don't stick rigidly to the numbers they learned in school. They know and consider greatly, the human factor. They have good bedside manners. They have listened to their patients over the years, and maybe found a large number of them who have a specific diagnosis complain of the same certain thing(s) that don't fit with the description of the disease. So, they consider this and don't just dismiss the patient with a "doctor knows best" attitude. They run the tests, prescribe the medications, and don't give up trying. Although I don't know for sure, because of my experience, I don't have confidence that Dr. Deer is like that. One reason I can give is when I asked him if there are anymore thyroid tests other than TSH and T4, he said there is not. I know that's a lie.
