I was shopping at South Coast Plaza with a friend and they encouraged me to visit the Rolex boutique after I told them that I've been too intimidated to step into a store to browse. (My Rolex that I own was purchased from a 3rd party so I never had the full in store experience and as I was in search for a new one, so I was really excited to finally be in store in the states). After some additional browsing from other stores we made our last pit stop at Rolex. I saw that the huge line prior was gone so I gently asked the security guard there if they accepted walk ins or was this an appointment only boutique? He rudely responded to me by saying "Wait your turn!" And brushed me off without even looking at me or any further acknowledgment from that point on. I kind of was confused by that interaction and just kind of stepped to the side and stood there next to the display window as I saw other customers prior doing the same. A few moments later an older couple in their mid 40s early 50s approached the store front in which he greeted them with a smile and told them to wait to the side in front of me. When the next sales associate was available they were let in before me. I was genuinely confused and wondered what made it that I was treated so poorly and not respected as a customer. There was no communication from staff and I felt like we were just sidelined for no reason. Wish the experience was better but it is what it is now. read more

I had an amazing experience with Sara here at south coast plaza. I had walked in several months ago to treat myself for my 30th birthday and buy myself my very first Rolex. Unfortunately, she didn't have the exact watch I wanted, but she was super professional and welcoming to let me know that I will get it soon, and that it's only a matter of time. I was patient and to my surprise she gave me a call months later. When I got into the store (again), she welcomed me with coffee, water and chocolates. I was thrilled at how welcoming and kind she was. It made the experience all that more amazing...she knew it was a special moment for me, and I felt her excitement as much as she felt mine. Have owned and purchased various watches over the last 20 yrs, but mostly through the gray market. All my previous rolex purchases have been via gray market dealers across the country. But coming up on my 50th birthday in 2026 - I decided to get my name on the "list" at the local AD with the hopes something happens next year. Made an appointment online which was very easy, but didn't get any confirmation. So I gave them a call, and they confirmed an appointment quickly. Went in on a Friday afternoon and walked in with ease. Was directed to the bar, offered a drink and told my client advisor would be with me shortly. Within 2-3 mins, I was called over by Juan - who asked some initial questions about what I'm looking for, etc. Juan brought out a few models to try on, directed me to various mirrors to see angles - but I've owned, worn enough watches to know what I like and what works for me. Juan was very straightforward on what was realistic and what models actually had a chance. Juan was very knowledgeable on the various models and shared insights without adding his own likes and biases, which was nice. (It didn't feel like he was steering me in any direction and let me do my own discovery and questions.) Ultimately he took my information and my 2 top choices and recorded it into their system. I didn't need a ton of time, but never felt rushed or as if they were trying to get me out of there. It felt like Juan set reasonable expectations despite not giving any timelines, which I knew would be the likely outcome. While it's possible that it may be a while or I may never get the call from them on a allocation, the overall experience was professional, comfortable and represented the Rolex brand well. I would certainly come back, and hopefully get to come back to pick something up some time. read more

After getting the attention of a saleswoman who wasn't occupied, I asked about putting my name on the list to purchase a GMT. She couldn't be more disinterested in helping me and my wife. Her facial expression, lack of eye contact and entire demeanor was arrogant and rude. While trying to speak with her, she was distracted by watching other customers on the floor behind me. If you want to feel like you have no business in a Rolex store, this is your place! I will continue to take my business to Bucherer in Palm Desert. I walked into the store. Other than the security guard, no one greeted me. I walked around the store looking at things - until I eventually got to the back and was looking at all the beautiful GMT Master 2s they had on display. There was a guy (his name was Steve M.) standing there who didn't say a word until I said hello. He did not even make eye contact. When I asked how he was doing he was cold and provided one word answers. The entire interaction was as if I was an inconvenience for him. I asked to try on two watches. He did not even bother winding them! I know Rolex requires them to do that. I provided my information and Steve didn't even bother double checking it. He didn't even give me a text thanking me for a visit! The other employees were just as bad! They too, ignored me and helped other people... despite me being there before other people. Several of them were hiding in corners on their phones! I purchased my first Rolex a few months ago. I was so hooked and happy to be in a position to afford watches like this. The location I bought my Rolex from is in San Diego and I was looking for something closer to home. This whole experience was such a turn off for me and left such a sour taste in my mouth. I walked into other watch stores and warmly welcomed. I understand that Rolex sells itself. But at least try to be welcoming to people. The nameless sales guy greets us and asks us essentially What We Don't Want. This is how it went. A male staff working there on Christmas Eve at around 1pm didn't even look at customers but just said of course that's not available when asked it one model is available. She is a super kind and professional salesperson who genuinely cares for her customers. During my first meeting with her, we talked about timepieces, family and life. She was never condescending or pretentious, which is a common vibe with some stores in SCP. We ended up discussing the pieces I was interested in and was placed on a "list". I stopped by to chat when I had some free time to reiterate my interest and one day I finally got "the call". It was Christina letting me know the piece I was interested in had arrived. The entire buying experience was absolutely amazing from initial meeting through purchase. The process was total luxury, through and through. What a shock. The female associate that followed me around the store did not ask me a single question, educate me on the product or brand, or ask what my interest level may be. Little does she know that I know the Swiss CEO of the brand, and I will be sure to pass this experience along to Mr. Dufour. What a disgrace for this great Luxury brand. It had been quite disheartening to walk into this boutique; every time we would walk in, everything is "For Exibition Only". There's been a couple of times where my "info" was taken, but never received an email from the associate that assisted us. My wife and I had been talking to this particular associate, but always nothing until our visit last month, where we actually got an email from him regarding a watch we were interested in. This week, we came in on Tuesday, looking for this associate. Christina met us and told us this associate was off, but she assisted us on a couple of timepieces. After showing us the timepieces, Christina mentioned that this particular associate will be back on Thursday, and we should ask for him. Very nice of Christina to not take another associate's client. Yesterday, Saturday, we walked in late in the afternoon. The male associate that had assisted us the past few times didn't even acknowledge us; while another lady who was busy putting back some timepieces asked us if we wanted to look at some timepieces. Li-Ying was very patient with us. We told her we were interested in other models, and she gladly took down our information. We saw that a few of the cases were empty, and we were kind of surprised by exibition pieces not being available in the showcase. As we were about to finish the consultation, she mentioned that there was a 31mm Date-Just 2 tone that was available. We looked at it, contemplated, and told her we'll think about it. We had left the premises when my wife decided she wanted to have the timepiece. In the midst of taking down our info, I must have missed Li-Ying mentioning that all the timepieces in the showcase island in the middle of the sales floor was available for purchase. When we went back in to the boutique to purchase the timepiece, Philip greeted us and ask if we needed assistance. The previous associate that had assisted us in our prior visits was still there standing around. We explained to Philip that Li-Ying had assisted us, and we were interested in buying the 31mm Date-Just 2-tone. Philip had us seated in a booth, and got us some water while Li-Ying finished up with another client. Philip had a very personable demeanor; it was a pleasure chatting with him regarding watches and other items. Li-Ying came back and assisted us with the purchase of my wife's timepiece. As we were waiting around for Li-Ying to get the watch sized, I walked around the boutique and joke around with Philip and asked him if I could buy the 41mm Date Just with the Wimbledon Dial on the wall since there was no sign that says "For Exibition Only." Philip then tells me that there are timepieces available for sale in the center island showcase. Sheez! I forgot Li-Ying mentioned that. There was a 40mm white gold Day-Date. I had to have that. To make a long story short, we ended up getting both the 31mm Date-Just and the 40mm Day-Date. Just want to give a big shout-out to Li-Ying for taking the time assist us in the purchase of our new timepieces, and also want to compliment Philip as well for keeping us company and just visiting with us while our timepieces were adjusted.
