My overall experience was 10/10. When I firdt walked in I was greeted by a lovely waiter And he sat me quickly. My server JAM was the absolute best. He recommended plenty of options for appetizers and drinks. He was very attentive to our table, he made sure to bring refills, more silverware, more cups literally whatever we didn't and he didn't complain on bit. Our food was also very tasty. We had the Egg rolls and boudin balls to start.My entree was a catfish player and can't forget about dessert. The sweetest beignets. Overall I will definitely be back! read more

This is the first review that I have written for your restaurant although it looks like someone else in our party may have written a review as well. Also, you are incorrect. Nobody apologized to us at all or acknowledged that we had issues with our food. You did not utter a single word of apology or acknowledgement to us and simply walked away to talk to other tables after being made aware of our issues. Anyone in the restaurant business should know that dessert isn't served before the entree or appetizer and shouldn't require that someone pull them aside to talk about it after they have already been made aware of the problem and shown no interest in resolving it. Here is a professional word of advice that you asked for: go back to the food truck because you are in over your head in a restaurant if you can't deal with criticism or complaints when they are warranted. read more

We ate here for dinner on the first night of Birmingham Restaurant Week. We had sampled their jambalaya at the Preview Party a few days prior and enjoyed it, so we were eager to taste the rest of the menu. Our server was kinda busy that day, and took awhile to check back on us after we ordered our drinks, so we gave her grace. One of the bartenders walked around with sample shots of the special drink they made for Restaurant Week. My guy took it and said he enjoyed it. They had a several specials for the week. I ordered the one that came with an appetizer (Boudin ball and egg roll) , entree (Jambalaya was my choice) with three sides (gumbo, dirty cabbage and Mac and cheese) and dessert (I selected the southern kin cheesecake to celebrate National Cheesecake Day!) My guy ordered the jambalaya entree with Mac and cheese and dirty cabbage. My guy's entree came out way ahead of mine. Like 15-20 minutes before. I'm assuming that was due to the appetizers I ordered with the special. However because he's nice, he let me eat off of his plate. It was kinda weird because technically we ordered the same thing but I guess they wanted the appetizers to come out first, which was only a few minutes before the main dish came out. However....none of this was relevant after I tasted my food. Everything I ordered was absolutely delicious! Every. Single. Thing. Seasoned like my mama was in the kitchen. Perfect in every way. The dirty cabbage was incredible! The jambalaya was even better than what we had sampled a few days earlier. My guy agreed that the food was some of the best we've had in the city. What put the icing on the cake was the owner. He is so full of flavor and personality and puts a lot of love into his business and it shows. My friends and I stopped in for happy hour last week. The boudin was amazing--truly an authentic Cajun recipe. The egg rolls were also very good and well seasoned. I didn't love the crab dip, but the bread served with it was really good. They had Music Bingo with great prizes, which we really enjoyed. The owner even came over and chatted with us. This place has been on my list for about a month, so that was pretty cool. The staff was friendly, fun, and welcoming. My friend ordered a Gold Rush, and the little glass was less than half full, with one large block of ice. The waitress assured her that was the correct pour, which seemed a little odd. This is definitely where the locals go. There has been some shade thrown at this place, but I think you just need to enter and enjoy with the expectation that it is a popular hang out with great food and atmosphere, not a place to run in for a quick bite. Order, enjoy the scene and the company that came with you. The staff were super friendly, generous with their time and, though we were just passing through Birmingham, they made us feel very welcome. We sampled as much of the menu we could and wish we had a reason to return soon. It was clear that the staff are members of the broader food community and connected to the local culture. The place was filled with friends and family, live music, and good food. I understand food pretty well, but this is a somewhat new genre to me, wasn't disappointed in anything. I remember a great experience from the truck some years ago. My wife and I were excited after a long week to try the brick and mortar store. There was live music on Friday night that was dangerously loud. Not only could we not carry on a simple conversation, The level was nearly painful. Unfortunately, we're also disappointed with the food. The Boudin was the best thing, but the potatoes in my boil were almost raw & the shrimp were mushy and clearly not very fresh. The crawfish can be really good and juicy, but the flavor isn't always consistent from visit to visit. Service can be a little slow getting the crawfish out, and the prices are a bit high. Amazing find at the North Pole Expo in Trussville , Alabama. The owner let me try a sample of the Spinach Articheaux, this had good flavor from the spinach and a nice crunch. I decided on the Jamblaya. The dish had it all, great flavor, rich base and just the right amount of heat to keep the proteins as the star. I also indulged on a piece of Southern Kin Cheesecake. Also tried the dirty cabbage. I loved the cabbage. Yes its boiled cabbage but with seasoning and sausage. Its really good. Go ahead and try it. Jambalaya was good, not too spicy, with chunks of chicken and sausage. Egg roll had chicken boudin in it and it was the best thing on my plate. The voo doo boudin was good. I was in Birmingham for 1 night and saw this place just down the street from my hotel. The voodoo boudin balls were really good. The chicken and sausage gumbo and chicken tenders were all made in house. Not frozen out of a box. And for dessert the beignets are a must try! Very tasty. They have a big bar and huge big screen tv. The service was very good also. I think this is a new restaurant in the area. I would recommend for sure. read more

Another Veteran and I stopped in for a catchup lunch. Lo and behold, behold and lo, we were there for a couple of hours catching up. The vibe was welcoming, fun and perfect for a family, friends or a business meetup. The menu was small but considering they had only been open for a couple of weeks, it was acceptable. My salad was good but the deliciousness of the sweet potatoes was so so good. It's like a sweet potato cobbler with just the right amount of sugar basted in butter. I was at UAB for a 7 on 7 tournament and I was really hungry. I noticed this food truck so I decided to give them a chance. The prices are a tad bit higher than other food trucks I frequent, but the food was delicious. It also didn't take forever for the food to be ready. My husband and I tried the jambalaya. It had a slight kick to it, which I really liked. The portion was very filling. I'm sorry that I do not have a picture of the food because I was too hungry to pause and snap one. I have been wanting to try this food truck for a while and finally the location schedule matched up with mine. I went with the Voodoo Boudin Balls and they were AMAZING! The 3 balls that come with the order were larger than any others I have had, were well cooked throughout and the sauce on top was great. There was a little kick but it was not too much. In every other instance that I have had boudin balls, it has been as an appetizer or accompaniment to my meal. In this case the serving size was large enough that it was enough to fill me up for lunch. There was very little wait after ordering before they were ready and these without question were the best boudin balls I have ever had! My wife and I regularly choose Cajun or Creole food when we dine out and despite having some quite good options before none have really come close. I was very tempted to get a 2nd order to take home but managed to resist because I am trying to watch what I eat more than I used to. Regardless I will be checking the schedule regularly for the next time that the food truck will be close enough for lunch (hopefully it will be more often). read more

You then confirmed with the waitress that what we complained about was true and she confirmed it all. Once again, I had an incredible experience at Roll Cajun Boudin. This authentic Cajun food is made with love and so flavorful and fresh. They put intention into every bite and truly care about their product and the costumer experience. You should not only eat here because the food is incredible (especially the crawfish bisque and jambalaya), but because the staff and owner are so caring and kind. When I told the owner about a charitable fundraiser I am organizing, he generously donated a gift card and t-shirts. He also took the time to get to get to know the customers at the food truck event at Siluria and even personally delivered the food to us inside while the food truck was outside, even though it was busy. Visited the food truck at a recent Barons game. I'm so glad I did! Both ladies working were extremely friendly, remembered me from when i stopped and looked at the menu earlier, and were incredibly fast with my order.
