So boom, lunch break hits and me and my coworkers decide we're about to be adventurous and try Nawlins PoBoys food truck on UAB Campus. Now let me be honest, when I pulled up and didn't see a line, I got a little nervous. Like is this a hidden gem or am I about to learn a life lesson? But curiosity won. The staff was friendly, no complaints there, but y'all know how sometimes you need that one person to say, "BABY, get THIS!" yeah, I didn't get that kind of guidance. So I went with the fried fish and fries. The fish looked like it was about to change my life. Golden, seasoned, photogenic, all that. Took a bite and it was good but I wanted a little more crunch. That's on me though, because I didn't ask for it extra crispy. Lesson learned: closed mouths don't get crispy fish. Now the fries? Whew. They came through crispy and did NOT play with me. I had been hearing about this restaurant for a while now and was finally able to check them out. We went by shortly after lunch time, and the restaurant was pretty empty. I really was looking forward to trying some of their whiting fish, but they were out unfortunately. I tried their catfish with fries, and the dish tasted pretty good. It was seasoned very well and served hot. I really enjoyed their seafood gumbo. This soup definitely reminded me of New Orleans. I would suggest more soup than rice, but it was still delicious nonetheless. All in all, Nawlins Style was pretty good. I'll definitely have to come back when they have some whiting fish. Ohh and just fyi.. they don't have yellow mustard. They only have spicy mustard. So if you want some mustard with your dish, you might want to bring your own. read more

Originally a food truck, now a brick and mortar store-and the reason why shows...it's delicious!!! The service was friendly and quick, and our food was made fresh and hot! There are a few tables inside mostly 4 tops but plenty of room for the family, definitely worth bringing the crew for a treat! Our po boys both had shrimp which was fried perfectly and well seasoned. Food Truck-02/06/2025: I saw someone review the brick and mortar. So when I saw their food truck would be near me. I was excited to try them out. I ordered the Bourbon Street Po'Boy and Fries. This Po'Boy was packed with plenty of seasoned shrimp but I will definitely ask for more Remoulade sauce as it really helps the sandwich from being on the dry side, just a preference. I will check them out again and see what else they have to offer for me to enjoy. read more

I had the Bourbon Street Po Boy off their food truck. Will say it is the best Po boy I've ever had. That remoulade sauce is the kicker.

Stopped in to have some crawfish. We were pleasantly surprised. The crawfish were delicious (we ate 10lbs) and we also had some Po Boys that were pilled high with seafood. The bread was fresh. The service was great. I will definitely be back. The owners stopped by our table several times to ensure we were good. Parking was somewhat challenging. Stopped in today to give it a try. You can't give 4.5 stars so I had to step it up to 5. Two of us split the catfish & shrimp basket and had a side of red beans and rice. Plenty of delicious food for two. The catfish was hot & crispy. The remoulade sauce added a nice touch. The shrimp were good but a bit on the small side. Still delicious. At $3.99, the side of red beans & rice was quite good & filling. The reason not to have gone with a solid 5 was the prepackaged tartar sauce. We will definitely return for another visit & look forward to trying some other menu items. read more

Listen here....words can't explain how good this plate was to me!!! The fish was nice and crispy and tasted so good the shrimp was delicious with the "ramalaude" sauce (hope I spelled that right" definitely worth every penny. Online ordering couldn't be any easier, probably the fastest of all the ones I have used. Our food was ready at the appointed time making the experience that much more enjoyable. The food is excellent I have had the catfish and shrimp basket which really could feed two people easily. The crust is crunchy and flavorful while the fish is quality and tender, they are some of the biggest filets I have seen. The shrimp were also on par. Haven't tried this , but getting a real New Orleans PO-Boy just can't see it ! It's sloppy , with rostbeef sauce all over with real French Bread ! Publix's comes closer than any I've tried ! read more
