The thought of joining a martial arts gym was a bit intimidating because I struggle with social anxiety. But the students and coaches at IBJJA were welcoming, encouraging, and very understanding of my lack of experience. The 30 day free trial helped me get started, and I was hooked by the first introductory class. All of the coaches are very friendly, professional, and highly knowledgeable about all things martial arts, fighting, exercise, health, and conditioning. The teaching style here is technical, detail oriented, and thorough, which works really well for me as a student. IBJJA has always had the highest standard for cleanliness. The mats, equipment, bathroom, locker room, and lobby are always cleaned and very well maintained. I can't say enough nice things about the academy, the instructors, or my fellow students. Training here changed my life for the better. I'm more confident, disciplined, and I'm constantly motivated to make healthy decisions. I'm in the best shape of my life, mentally and physically, and I'm always improving. I recommend IBJJA or any of the Team James Clingerman affiliates for anyone who wants to get in shape, learn effective self defense, or compete in BJJ or MMA.

On my first day, I was welcomed by one of the instructors, Jonathan. He could probably tell that I was intimidated (I am female) and overwhelmed, so he took me aside and taught me a few moves and told me about all the "regulars" who come in to class. I originally signed up only for the kickboxing, but discovered I also like Brazilian Ju Jitsu, and all the other classes they have to offer. LaMont Taylor is a great instructor, positive, and motivational. Oftentimes when I come to class it's like getting a private lesson. This place is not like 9-Round or Iron Fit. You will actually learn moves, technique, and have the opportunity to spar with classmates & instructors. Whereas, at the other gyms, you get an intense workout by only punching a bag and training like a boxer. Everyone has different preferences, but I enjoy learning more of the self-defense at Headbangers KBA. 13/10 I highly recommend!

However, i liked every single class. I have been taking kickboxing classes for a year through Groupon just to try different locations and classes and this is one of the kickboxing class I would recommend. Unfortunately, it's little too far from where I live. they do mix classes with children and adults, which I did not expect, but nothing wrong with that concept. All of them have been training longer than we have for sure. The instructors like to do some random 1:1 sessions during our workout which I liked. Having that short 1:1 session just to see what you can improve was a plus! I would definitely recommend this place for some great kickboxing class. Also they call their kickboxing, muy tai.

A few things I appreciate about this specific gym: 1. Personal greetings from the trainers and receiving occasional texts checking in. Accountability is key and it really helps me when I feel like I have someone who helps hold me accountable to my goals. 2. The gym is small but never really feels crowded because of how fast each round goes by. The 3 minutes in each round with a small break in between helps the workouts feel super manageable. 3. The workouts change every day and I know that even though it's 30 minutes, I'm getting a GREAT workout. I've been feeling sore (in a good way) as my body adjusts to this. And because it's only 30 minutes it's very easy to work into your schedule. 4. You can go as many times as you want during their open hours which is stellar. 5. I've met Mindy and Sadie and they are both wonderful! Looking forward to my next workout!

You're able to get a great workout in 30 minutes, I'll typically get around 400 calories per round but have gotten up to the 600's depending on the day. The workouts change each day so you'll be able to get something different each day. 6 out of the 9 rounds will use bags and the others are a jump rope, core, and free weights. Kickboxing is a great workout overall and I can't emphasis enough the stress relief it'll provide! The workout will hit a little bit of everything with arms, legs, and core. There are no class times so you'll be able to come in whenever it's open. The hours vary but typically will be open early in the morning and later in the evening. I will say what gives this gym 5 stars is the 2 primary trainers there, Sadie and Savannah. Although they are younger l, it's clear they have a strong interest in the field and wanting to help you achieve your fitness goals. They quickly offer easier alternatives for injuries and more challenging progressions if you want to repeat the cycle a 2nd time. They also are very good with feedback on proper boxing techniques as well.

I went to a Zumba class and had a lot of fun. The instructor (Angela) knew I was a newbie and went out of her way to make me feel welcome and tell me about the classes. After trying a few more (Zumba and Dance Fusion), I signed up for a membership. I'm not a gym/workout person. AT ALL. But Revel is unlike anything I've ever done before. I actually look forward to it. It's an hour where I get to go, see friendly people, dance to good music, and I get to call it a workout. Looking back, my biggest fear was making a fool out of myself...not being able to do the moves, looking lost, etc... It became apparent to me that NO ONE CARES. Everyone is just there to move and have fun. Can't do a move? That's fine. Just keep moving. Do whatever you want. Although I'm partial to Brooke's classes, I've enjoyed every instructor I've tried, and they all have their own moves, music, etc... The owner, Cindy, is also AMAZING and I go 10 minutes early and talk to her at least once a week. Being a part of the Revel family has been so much fun and if you're even MAYBE thinking about doing it, JUST COME ON IN. I promise you won't regret it!

After scanning the website, I decided to check it out the next day, since the first class is free. After one class, I signed up for a membership ($39/month) and I've been to at least 2 classes a week since joining, if not 4-5 - which is unheard of for me. I like it THAT much. Revel's studio is within Primelife Enrichment in Carmel, but the clients are all ages. From my first class (Zumba with Erin) I felt welcomed and accepted. Each instructor has noticed I'm "the new kid" and gone out of their way to introduce themselves and welcome me to class. Revel is full of regulars but everyone has been friendly and many have asked my name and welcomed me to Revel. This is a community that I don't think I'd find at a larger studio or gym. Going to the gym in general has always made me feel uncomfortable, but here I can dance without worrying about how I look. I can just focus on having fun. This place checks off all the things on my list. It's close to where I live, affordable, welcoming and offers a variety of classes (Zumba, Pound, TurboKick, LaBlast). I actually look forward to my workouts and can't wait to continue my fitness journey with Revel!

I was repeatedly told "you're on contract" "If your child gets sick we will take a note from the doctor" so our children have to get Covid-19 before they will take it serious. I am not so sure that I want to send my son to a place that does not have his health and safety as a top priority. I asked what happens when we die then who's paying this contract? I also asked to speak with the owner of the company, at first told there was no way I could. Then was told to call back tomorrow. Adults are one thing OUR CHILDREN are different. We are to do our best to protect them and this should be a place that is on the same page! The schools close but this place knows more than the whole district? They should be respectful of the sensitivity of this situation and have a plan! They should want all the kids to return without getting sick not wait and see.

Like any business that sells you a workout plan,…read moreyou are just as accountable for attending the classes as they are holding up their end of the deal. However, I experienced a breakdown on their end immediately. The private lesson that I was given as my first free lesson was very encouraging. I was excited about losing that extra 20 pounds and was preyed upon by these sales people. Immediately following this lesson I was put in a sales office with the owner. He told me FOR THE FIRST TIME that this lesson wasn't really free. Keep in mind that I was already done with the lesson at this point. The deal was that if I didn't sign up for their high pressure legally contracted lesson plan that I NOW HAD YO PAY OVER $100 FOR MY "FREE" LESSON! I was uncomfortable with their sales approach of essentially tricking people in to signing up or paying for that lesson... but they got me... I signed on the dotted line. In this meeting I was promised over $500 worth of equipment included as part of what I signed up for... I received a T-shirt... which they asked me to pay for at first and then was told that I needed to spend literally hundreds of more dollars on essential equipment that came from them. I was ignored and taken away from the group when I mentioned that "I signed up for the package where my equipment was included." The instructor tried to separate me and give me a pair of gloves to "shut me up." The reason I wrote this review is because of one thing. I was paying them over $150 per month to work out there. I told them that I did not feel I was given what was promised and the classes are NOTHING like your "free" private lesson on the first day. I had paid on time in full for 4 months and sent them an email. I asked about terminating my contract because I didn't feel they were holding up their end and requested to sit down with them. Immediately I was met with a legal letter telling me that I was lazy and wanted out because I'm of low moral character. The letter went on to say that they were threatening legal action. I was blown away, I asked for a meeting to discuss something and had never missed a payment and that's what I got. This business clearly wasn't for me and I should have never signed up for something I was this uncomfortable with, but I was motivated by trying to improve my body. All I will say is please don't sign anything until you have went to a few of the regular scheduled classes and have 100% of the information about what they will expect you to purchase from them once you are a member. Don't let your feelings about your body cloud your judgment about this business. I would recommend declining the "free" lesson and paying for a few GROUP sessions before ever signing anything. I was trapped by a contract to workout somewhere that I was uncomfortable with taught by people who I was very uncomfortable with.
