This place isn't trying for polished restaurant experience, and honestly, that's kinda part of its charm. It feels like the kind of spot where the bar comes first and the kitchen supports it if this makes sense. The atmosphere is a neighborhood hangout feel. You can tell it's a local spot--people walking in were greeted by name, and there's a familiar, lived-in vibe that makes it feel welcoming if you're a regular, and easy enough to settle into if you're not. Food-wise, the corned beef on both the Gaiety and the Finnegan's Wake sandwiches stood out--tender, flavorful, and generous. Both sandwiches came with fries, and while I appreciate skin-on fries, these leaned a bit soggy rather than crispy. Overall, this is a solid spot if you go in with the right expectations. It's less of a destination restaurant and more of a go-to pub where you can grab a drink, and enjoy pub food. If you're looking for a lively, casual bar with good portions and a strong local following, it delivers--even if not everything on the plate is perfect. I think I'd like to make an update review after trying a few more dishes. At a glance, 3.5 with overall good experience.

While old episodes of "Nick At Night" play on one of the bar screens, as mock "scrambled porn" plays on another. The few tables that line the wall behind the bar are small and cramped. The very small beer menu was nothing special. The two IPAs were out and the ones that were not were warm. Beer should not be warm coming out of the tap. The canned and bottled beers were not too far off. The food looked like some supermarket frozen food section stuff. Over priced, over fried and cold in the middle. The music played overhead is early 2000s emo and punk which is cool. But does not fit with the aesthetic of 90s nostalgia. The staff is unprofessional and some rude. Vaping behind the bar, drinking, and taking their time letting lines build up. They also let way too many people in. It came to the point where it felt like you were on the subway going home during rush hour. Shoulder to shoulder, back to back -- not a good feeling at a dive bar. If you're not gonna listen to Drake and drive to the bar -- the parking lot is a single lane joke. Park down one of the side streets.

The vibe was friendly and inclusive, which made for a really enjoyable night. The parking lot is huge, though it still struggled to fit everyone--this place clearly draws a crowd. There were lots of motorcycles, which added to the cool, slightly rugged scene. The bar itself has a large back patio, several rooms inside, and a spacious main bar that wraps around three sides. Seating is plentiful and well laid out. There was a pool table that got a lot of use--make sure to bring quarters if you want to play. We also caught a live band playing that night and they were fantastic, though the volume was a bit overwhelming at times. Still, the energy was great, and the music was a big plus. The bartender, Donna (I think that was her name), was friendly and attentive. I only had a drink, so I'm not sure if they serve food--I'll have to check on that next time. It's also worth noting they offer free Wi-Fi and have several large TVs, which was a nice bonus. My coworkers, who had already been here a few times, all seemed to enjoy themselves again. One thing I always pay attention to is lighting, and Frogzz hit the mark: not too bright, not too dim--just right for a relaxed night out. And yes, true to the name, there's frog-themed decor everywhere--fun, quirky, and definitely part of the charm. All in all, a thumbs up. I'd come back with friends. The overall automosphere seems geared more toward an older crowd. However, it's still chill and easy to enjoy at any age.

It's all working stiffs and a bartender named Dani who I come to find out is the owner. She knows them all and is friendly with everyone including me. The place has been around since forever. The men's pisser has a urinal that was taken out of Grand Central in the 50's. You have a pool table, multiple dart boards, a juke box, and a weathered bar that has had many people drink from it over the years. It's simple. Clean. And drink prices that aren't gonna rob ya. Every person I've chatted up in the place are % legit, solid, straight up good people. Plus live music is starting to happen. If you haven't been here in a while because of it's past, you need to come check it out because the Laurel has started a new chapter in its long story.

Then the band came out. Not a full set of teeth between them all. One guitar player, bass, drums and killer horn section. They blew the doors off the bar with 5 or 6 songs of jump blues. I felt like I was back at the Knickerbocker in Westerly watching Roomful of Blues. Then they got this guy out of the audience (local)? to play harmonica. Junior Wells and Sonny Terry had a baby and this must be their kid. Definitely lifted the band. Enquiring at the bar I was told they were Big Slow and the Hats. Clean place, no Psychos at the bar , a few Mom and Dads .

Amongst our group of 13 people, we all had issues connecting to the WiFi and the tv. I convinced the front desk to give us an iPad to manage the music and that also wasn't working. I called the guys to the room multiple times to troubleshoot and it still wasn't working. We fought with the technology throughout the whole 3 hour reservation which really made it difficult to enjoy the experience. During the times it was working, the app was glitchy and we had difficulties seeing the queue and skipping over songs. Also, one of the microphones was barely working. Additionally, before booking I inquired amongst a number of places to compare prices. We picked this place because we were told that there would be an assigned server to our room to allow us to enjoy the open bar experience and not have to step out to the bar to get drinks. Upon arriving, I was told that wasn't the case, even though it was in my email. After a lot of back and forth, they finally agreed to come serve to our room but there were still times I had to leave the room and chase them down. I have done karaoke many times and this was a very stressful experience.
