This place not only passed the vibe check, it's on its own level of coolness that demanded a vibe check of me. From the glittery epoxy floors, to the hand carved wooden creatures, colorful, creative and unique ceiling murals, multiple textures, and art deco and pop art features throughout, you feel fully immersed in an artist's dream from the second you walk in. The lighting and the French music playing overhead also lend themself to the unique experience. I ordered a margarita and 2 sips in, I found myself even more relaxed and enjoying more and more of the decor details of the cafe that I continued to notice throughout. The menu offered so many options, including quite a few vegan options, but I settled on the watermelon salad (weekly special), the boats n hoes spring rolls (veggie), and the Vegan Burger. The watermelon salad was so fresh and delicious, and it complemented my (2nd!) margarita perfectly! The spring rolls were perfectly crispy and flavorful and the vegan burger was the star of the show and was absolutely perfect, especially with the added fresh avocado on top! This place was somehow made even more fantastic by the quick-witted, fun-loving, hilarious owner/host/server, Marco, who provided us with great service and even better stories (were they all true??!!!). I highly recommend entering this magical establishment as soon and as often as possible so that you can count yourself lucky enough to have experienced it.

I was looking for a restaurant in the Mattituck area after visiting a nearby farm with the family…read more I found a restaurant that was nearby and we walked aground the area to see what was there. The restaurant we originally picked had a 20 minute wait... and with two hangry toddlers, we crossed the street and saw a restaurant sign on top of a neat looking bar. It is actually next to a bar as well, so we eyeing sure it was for the kids. I stood outside and the clock struck 2pm, and a nice gentleman opened the velvet rope for us and said "come in, we were open." Not knowing if this was for the kids or not, we walked in and saw one of the most interesting interiors I have seen in awhile. It was fun and different. The manager made it fun as well as he has a great attitude and happy to help in terms of recommendations. The menu itself is big and you will need some help. The first thing was needing to get food to two little hangry ones, so we asked for noodles, which he got on immediately, getting in a pancit order. That came out first and my wife and I took a few extended moments as the menu is extensive. I ordered the chicken and waffle with bang bang shrimp and my wife had the steak with rice and onions. Both dishes were flavorful and definitely enjoyable. I could definitely go back in again if I ever head back or East, but maybe taking the Long Island railroad would be better since it is across the street from the train station. Definitely stop in for a drink and enjoy the cool little toys and designs around the restaurant. This restaurant definitely provides variety of you want to try something new!

I wasn't going to write a negative review initially (because I am a supporter of small businesses…read moreand I don't like bashing anyone's livelihood), but since Chef Karl won't respond to the email I sent (and a follow up email) where I politely expressed our dissatisfaction with the expensive 'Hamptons style' dinner experience he provided, I'm going to share our recent experience. We contracted with Chef Karl for my wife's surprise surf & turf dinner celebration for 14 people. Chef Karl was to arrive between 4:00 and 4:30 to do all that was necessary to prepare the meal for a 7:30 start. He arrived at 6:45 citing traffic issues yet his server, who was coming from the same Hamptons location, arrived on time. The stress he was under to get the meal out was evident and it cast a backdrop of stress or tension over the experience. The appetizer he served was not what we contracted for - he must have forgotten to bring the correct food ingredients. We believe he scrambled and decided to use part of the steak that was meant for the turf portion of the main entree as the appetizer. We believe this because two of the guests who could not eat lobster (the chef knew this well in advance) only received four small and thin slices of steak as their main entree (we expected them to receive their own steak given that everyone else had close to two pound lobsters plus a similar amount of steak). Other guests gave their portions of steak to those two guests so that they could have a reasonably sized meal. The salad he served was also not what was contracted for. The meal was to be served with a potato mash and an au jus. Because he was late, the potato mash was served a third of the way into the meal - and dry. No au jus. The server made her way around the table plopping a spoonful of mashed potatoes on each guest's plate. Had he arrived reasonably on time, the potatoes could have been plated along with the main entree - and with the au jus. He ran out of the vanilla ice cream topping for the chocolate cake and two or three of the guests received their dessert plate with a melted ice cream drizzle poured from the bottom of the ice cream container. I've hired a few chefs in the past for private dinner celebrations and I have attended dinner parties of the same arranged by friends and business colleagues. Each time, the chef engaged with the guests, told stories, described what he/she was serving, etc. We had almost none of this with Chef Karl and the only time during the meal that he engaged with us was when I reached out and asked him about one of his celebrity clients. Mistakes are totally understandable - I have no issues with that - but he should have owned his mistakes and offered to make it all right. Instead, he offered not a syllable of an explanation about any of the menu changes nor serving issues and he seemingly expected that he could smooth it all through unnoticed. Not cool. Oh, and he charges, in advance, a minimum gratuity of 20%.

He was so easy to work with and helped me create a menu that appealed to a group of 10+ girls. To say the food was extraordinary would be an understatement. The salad course was so light and a great start to the meal. The pasta was phenomenal and the steak was hands down the best steak I've had in my life. I wish I took a picture of the chocolate lava cake but I was too eager to jump in and eat. There wasn't a clean plate in the house. We splurged and added on wait staff that Karl provides. She was so attentive and fun. She made sure the wine was flowing (it was a bachelorette party after all!) and was quick to clear plates without interrupting the party. We all plan to use them again in the future. It was the highlight of our weekend and the best home chef experience I have had.

They are that good, and their price was totally reasonable. From the beginning, I knew we were in great hands. They provided us with DJ / MC / Sound / Lights / Video in one simple package, they even created a beautiful 250 pic video photo montage for us that was beautiful. They communicated with our other vendors through out the night and followed the planned script perfectly and played all music as previously selected as well as all the typical dance standards. It was LIT as my daughter said when it was over (which we didnt want to end). Ivan and his team are total pros, very personable and very easy to deal with and that took a lot of weight ofs our shoulders as we trusted him to run with the program and he did not disappoint us. Thank you again!

The questionnaire used for planning was all online as well as their catalog of services provided. Ivan was super accommodating and played all the songs we requested. He was on point with the wedding day itinerary and helpful with suggestions. We had some guests who also DJ and they came up to me raving about how his song mixes/wordplay was spot on. The photo booth was a hit - highly recommend and you receive a link to all photos/gifs taken. We also added on the saxophonist and 8 ft robot. Rob was also fantastic and I'm so glad DUDJ's provided him as the MC. High energy, big smiles, and these two were able to read to crowd and perform accordingly. Their DJ light setup was soooo much better than other DJ's I vetted (not to mention the others were upselling this and Drive Up provides this as a standard). I would have zero hesitation booking this team again and will be recommending them to all friends/family for future events.

They did a great job overall and got everyone dancing and were generally friendly and great to work with. No major complaints there. There was a small flub with the dj/mc but they were wonderful and helpful and it was all good, and they kept the party going all night! I would hire them again if there is ever a reason for me too. If you are just booking a DJ and and MC they are great and you can stop reading the review here! If you are booking live solo musicians though there is more. I am lowering the review not because of the DJ/MC, but because of the live solo musican we had booked as well. We booked violin and piano, and were told the musician can play anything reasonable that will have sheet music. My husband picked a classical piece, not an overly crazy one, it's one that most students can play, so for a professional it should be a non issue. But I heard from multiple guests (many of whom are also musicans...) that it sounded off and even I could tell it wasn't right as I walked down the aisle. We were told only a short time before the wedding that the violinist was having to practice the piece a lot, but not that they couldn't reliably play it at all, and if we knew earlier it couldn't be played, we would have gladly hired any QC student or a peer to do it instead (and for less money). The violinist was also the piano player, and for piano we had requested jazz music, which was pretty important to my musician husband. To our surprise when we walked into the cocktail hour we hear "beauty and the beast" on piano. Totally not our vibe at all, not what we asked for, and no one gave us any warning that it would be changed. Again, if we knew sooner that the pianist either wouldn't or couldn't do jazz, we would have found someone else, or we would have changed to a different genre, but definitely not sappy poppy love songs.... Just such a bummer. The piano killed the vibe for me completely and he and I were both so looking forward to it. Overall the player was nice and whatever, and I guess if you just want some basic piano covers it's fine, but we expected more of a professional service, like a heads up that the music was changed even. All in all I still definitely recommend the DJ and MC and the owner(?) is a pleasure to work with, but just letting people know if they have any sort of specific live music wishes aside from the most generic, to go elsewhere for that one aspect. The cocktail hour music not being at all what we discussed was a definite stain on the otherwise perfect night for us.

But that is not why I am willing to drive long distances to play the wonderful game of Golf. It's because I enjoy playing on a golf course that are difficult to get on unless you're a member. And if a family or friend invites to you to play, I never say no. The Vineyards Golf Course is a beautifully designed course that easily blends in with its surroundings. The course has three set of tee boxes which we chose to play the back tees of course. Why??, well because the young men I was playing with can drive ball 300 yards plus and sometimes on the fairway. It sure did not help my game when I attempted to drive the ball the distances they seem capable. I found the Vineyards golf course challenging with its rolling fairways, protected by large meandering sand bunkers, false fronts and hazards. We had a windy day that played in our favor on some holes and others which easily challenged us. The par-3 holes were a variety in length, direction and difficulty. The secondary roughs had fescue grasses and in some cases we were lined up along a corn field farm. Vineyards was much more challenging than I anticipated, but I very much enjoyed the course and would love to play there again before the season ends.
