Huh, woulda thought I'd reviewed this before...anyhow, been going here for a few years. Not far from USPS, and a (now defunct) Chinese restaurant. Short and sweet, it's all about beer and wine. Not much of a 'winer', but occasionally a beer (India Pale Ale). They have your regular brands plus craft and foreign. Initially, I went here because the only other place I could find Taj Mahal (Choice Wine & Beer) kept them out in the open. Warm. Which I suspect led them to going bad by the time I picked up one or two. When I walked in, they had the Taj's on the chill along with the Coronas, etc. Toward the back end they have Kingfisher along with German beers and your usual suspects. A lot of wine and beer not on chill, but not a problem though since...I only buy what's behind the glass. Not like the place is an inferno during Summer, but still. Aside from that, they have soft drinks and snacks as well as an ATM. The staff is pretty relaxed, never had a problem there. Oh, and they sell lottery tickets as well. This is best option for any liquor in the area. They have new owners since a couple years ago. They are very helpful and respectful. I would highly suggest anybody in the Rockville area to come and stop by. Reasonable prices. read more

Had a great experience first time that I went and got great costumer service from who seemed to be the owner. And a great selection of already cold beer. On my second visit hoping for the same I headed to the cold beer section although, I didn't quite get the same experience. After buying a case of the Troegs Summer Anthology, which includes some of my favorites especially the Perpetual, I was disappointed to find that the whole case was skunked. I called the store to see what they could do about it possibly a return or refund. Although the owner stated once I had opened the box it could not be returned To which I responded "how was I to know the the beer is skunked without opening the box" Very disappointed they couldn't do anything about this and it left a literal and figurative sour taste in my mouth. read more

Whoever is reading this, please disregard the past Rollins Beer & Wine. The new owner, Patel, is very caring and welcoming. They always have a good selection of beer and wine. The prices are fair and relatively cheaper than I expected. This is a place to stop by! I'm giving them a five star because they deserve it. read more

I've been going here for a few years and can't explain the negative reviews. It's not an especially friendly or rude shop, and not much different than many other immigrant run shops in the area. Some cultures are not chatty or gregarious. I wonder if there isn't some cultural misunderstandings going on here. The guy complaining about being taxed on the 5 cent bag tax -- seems a little troll like. 6 or 7% sales tax on $0.05 is what exactly? Not even a cent. Are you buying bags in bulk? In fact, the lady at this store always gives me free beer boxes to carry my six packs. Never charged. I will update this review if I have a bad encounter. read more

THEY DON'T ACCEPT PENNSYLVANIA DRIVER'S LICENSE... - overpriced & very rude store clerk 1) I had a terrible experience TRYING to buy a couple beers on a Friday afternoon... leaving me more confused than anything. - I walked in to find a case of cheap beer and noticed the clerk following me around the store. I ignored her, but knew she was keeping her eye on me (she actually tried to say I couldn't browse the beer section near the back of the store because she had to checkout another customer... WTF?) I think I was racially profiled as a young black male. 2) Found some over priced yuengling and the same clerk rudely rejected my PA driver's license. "You can go back to PA if you want to buy beer." I thought it was a language barrier thing, but she made it really clear when she dramatically hid the beer behind the counter, thinking I was going to steal it right out of the store I guess. Please save your money and avoid this place at all costs! Like others have mentioned, the couple who run this store are extremely rude and unprofessional. I went to this store with my partner today and everything was fine until we went to make our purchase at the cash register. Montgomery County charges a $.05 charge for each disposable bag a customer receives from a retailer. The owners of this establishment tried to double tax me by charging a tax on the bag tax. While this amounts to a negligible amount, it is nonetheless illegal for them to conduct business this way. When we brought this to their attention, the owners both became irate and began shouting at us. One of them then went on a profane "f" word-laced rant about how President Obama is taking everyone's money. We were called "mother*ckers" and "homos", and were shouted at once we left the store. They are literally stealing from people and becoming aggressive when it is brought to their attention. I can safely say that I have never been treated this way as a customer in any establishment ever. This was my second time at this store and it will most certainly be my last. If you need to go to a non-county run store for alcohol, go to Rodman's or Belby's. Both of those establishments are reasonably priced and treat their customers courteously and professionally, and are a short distance away. If being treated horribly and being double taxed turns you on, by all means go here. I've learned my lesson and will stay away. I plan to look for a county agency to complain about this business and I will be calling my bank to dispute the charge since double taxation is illegal. Again, AVOID THIS PLACE! Yesterday was the first and last time I will ever step foot into that place. I brought my service animal into the store and was thrown out by the Asian couple. I tried to explain that my dog was a service animal in training and that the Dept. of Justice permits me to have the dog with me wherever I go. The man verbally abused me and threatened to call the police. No worries here though... I contacted the DOJ today and filed a formal complaint for failure to comply with ADA guidelines for service animals. Those two took up with the wrong lady! I am going to stay vigilant on this and ensure that action is taken. If they treat me this way how are they treating others that have disabilities. As I stated, these two took up with the wrong person this time! They are violating the law! If I could give ZERO stars I would. read more

This place absolutely sucks. I went in here to browse their beer selection while my friend went to get some bubble tea. Feeling a sneeze come on, I left the store to sneeze outside. I went back in because my friend had not gotten back. I looked around for about 5 minutes and then headed to the register as they had a Dogfish Head World Wide Stout and was going to buy it. The person behind the counter says, "last chance" I ask him what he meant by that, he says, "you been in and out twice, either buy something or get out." I explained to him that I had left to sneeze and did not want to be disrespectful. He then proceeded to ban me from the store. Do yourself a favor- avoid this place at all cost. The chinese couple who run the beer/wine store & attached deli are uncouth, rude, abusive and obnoxious. I've been shopping at this place for over 2 years despite its dingy & smelly condition, & overpriced and extremely limited selection, just because it is conveniently located for me. I've tried to minimize my interaction with the couple while purchasing since they are always aggressive, antagonistic and dismissive of customers. However today was the last straw. They refused to charge a $8 purchase to my credit card. They didn't have a sign saying that they require a minimum purchase for credit cards. Moreover, credit card merchant rules require these merchants to accept cards regardless of purchase amounts. Unfortunately I wasn't carrying enough cash, so tried to tell them that I'm a regular customer & I'll pay cash next time whatever the purchase amount etc, trying to appeal to their reason. However the woman got extremely belligerent and started saying "buy more else no buy. You dont feed me. so what if you come for 2 years to buy beer. We dont need you." I didn't want to bother with that so decided to pick up a bottle of wine to bring my total up to over $10 (over 20$ now). However even after doing so, when I went to ring up the purchase the man was extremely obnoxious and kept on saying .. "why u arguing? don;t argue? i dont need you? its friday and i have 1000 customers already and you are looking for trouble and i dont need customers as i have lots already etc etc".. needless to say, I didn't complete the purchase and will never go to that store again. If they have no respect for regular customers then they deserve to dry up and close shop. read more

The store is dark and crowded - not with people, though, just boxes. The wine was ridiculously overpriced. I was taking a break from moving in to my new apartment and just wandered around to see if I could find my new beer/wine store. This wasn't it. I bought a bottle of Cupcake Pinot Grigio for $10 or $11, on sale... a total ripoff, but I wanted to get back home. The person at the counter didn't even speak to me. I had asked something about when they get new shipments or some such. Silence. I bought a back of cigarettes and asked for a pack of matches. That was the only time I got an answer. "No matches." Just two words. It was awkward while I was paying in complete silence, with the woman and some other dude just staring at me, like I'd interrupted them by daring to come in to the store. This afternoon I went to Belby's, which had better prices (though still a bit high) but more importantly, help staff that didn't act like I was an impediment to their day. read more

All the negative reviews on here are 100% true, the owners of this establishment are HORRIBLY RUDE. The first and only time we ever tried to purchase from this place - my boyfriend ran in to buy some red wine for a dish I was cooking. He simply asked the manager if there was a cheaper red wine he would recommend. Instead of helping, he took his time to tell my boyfriend that he has to find it on his own. And not to ask the "CEO" for help. The manager proceeded to rant about buying bananas from Giant (not sure what was the point he was trying to make). In short, he kept ranting, my boyfriend walked out. Most reviewers still bought liquor from this place, We didn't. We would rather drive or walk a couple of blocks to get liquor from a different store than rewarding this poor customer service. DO NOT GIVE THIS BUSINESS YOUR MONEY! RUDE HOSTILE ABUSIVE owners! I asked for a bag and was accosted by the impolite owner. He said, "don't you know bags are 5 cents plus tax? YOU should know better!". Then he refused to give me a bag even though I said I would pay for it, because "I didn't know better" I don't know because I was only visiting the area on business. You'll see the other reviews report similar experiences. It seems that the area is developing and a place like this, where they treat their paying customers abusively will be closing soon. I had a similar incident today regarding the Asian couple that own that store. Even though it is over priced I would go there because it was right around the corner from where I live. I went in the store wanting to buy a case but I had some trash in my hand and asked if they had a trash I could use.....then out of nowhere Asian lady started yelling "you can't bring your trash in here". (it was a bag of trash from mcdonald). The Asian man came right over started yelling and said to get out of the store I'm gonna call the cops, your discriminating against us. I said, "I asked how?! I have been coming here all the time and your kicking me out for asking if you had a trashcan I could use!?". He had no answer and called the cops....or I should say pretended cause no cops showed up. They should be shut down, they are one of the rudest people I have ever met.....I mean it's not that hard to run a beer, wine store try a restaurant? To save your own sanity I would recommend never stepping into that store, there are plenty of other places to go...don't go there. read more

While I have never been treated rudely, I can imagine that others have. In fact, they are more often very friendly to me, but I live nearby and have shopped there for 19 years. Sometimes they are cool, telling me that maybe one of the other reviewers just left. lol It's my go to place for Dogfish Head, and they are cheaper for that brand than anywhere, but admittedly, there are many other places to go. I wouldn't buy wine there as their selection is lousy and you have no idea how long the wine has been sitting on the shelves, and i definitely wouldn't eat there, especially with China Taste/Tokyo Express next door where you can get surprisingly good sushi and Chinese food (reminds me of those excellent hole in the wall joints in Queens, NY.). So forget those lousy tuna subs and get really good Sichuan. read more

I would like to know what happened to this place? It used to be great. Great subs, sandwiches, daily specials, sold every kind of lotto/lottery tickets in the world, nice, young Asian lady worked the register. Admittedly I haven't been there in probably at least a year. Went to the post office next door so decided to just grab a sub from the deli. My first hint that something had changed was the parking lot. Near empty at 12:50 pm. Then a sign on the window aid "No Lotto". Not a lotto person so no problem to me. Sign on door said daily special was ham/cheese sub. At least the daily special on the board on the door was familiar :-) Went inside - not a sole around. Strange. At first I didn't even see anyone work there. I'm standing at the deli section looking around for anyone to take my order. Then I see a head - someone sitting behind the counter on a stool between the register and the deli section. I had to say something to get his attention. Sign on the deli wall said the special was a tuna sub? OK - both were good to my recollection so I ordered the tuna sub. Couldn't believe when he put some tuna in a bowl, added mayo, relish and stirred it with chopsticks!! Subs used to go into a styro container with chips and a pickle. He tore off a piece of serran wrap, opened a bag of chips (obviously not much business if you are just opening a new large back of chips? and this all went into a brown bag :-( Things have certainly changed. I don't have to tell you that the sandwich wasn't good. No one else came in the entire time I was there and the parking lot didn't have any more cars when I left. If nothing else - they did great business from the post office next door! I won't go back. Something obviously happened to this place. read more

I have never been so rudely treated in all my life! I used to work around the corner years ago and would go there for lunch-- but it was more of a sit down place with tables and chairs and service. They had daily specials for lunch-- nothing fancy but good and fresh. Now it is a beer store with a sandwich counter-- which could still be OK-- EXCEPT that the owners are so crazy RUDE!! I was meeting a friend there-- and we were quickly chatting, catching up. I planned to grab a sandwich and some beer to take home because my friend had to get back to work. The owner kept giving my friend the evil eye-- it was very uncomfortable. He then just told us to leave and continued to rant at us. I said I was going to get some beer and a sandwich and he just would not listen! We just left because it was impossible to explain anything to him! He was losing it! I honestly felt like I was discriminated against because I was not Chinese. I wonder if he treats all ethnicities this way? I will NEVER EVER return there or go to any of the other businesses in that Rollins Center. read more
