    Ube pie

I finally went to the actual Gwenie's store recently. I usually have had their stuff from other stores (kuya ja) or just ordered by someone for events. I got some donuts, an ube pandesal, and the ube pie. They sell out pretty fast on the donuts so I recommend going earlier in the day vs later. The donuts are really yummy; I love pandan flavored things so I really enjoyed the pandan donut. Nice pandan flavor (more on the subtle side) in the cream filling. The donut is fluffy and chewing like a good yeast donut should be. The ube filled one was also yummy; very nice obe flavor. My personal favorite thing I got was the ube pandesal. Light and fluffy bread with a sweet ube filling (not ube cream like the donut). I think the bread with the more dense ube filling goes very well together. Definitely will go back to try other things. Halo halo is on the list of things to try for sure.

I love Gwenie's pastries! My brother buys it all the time and finally I had the chance to visit one of their locations. I have never tried something I didn't like from there. Love love love all their goodies! Highly recommend. Not to mention staff are so friendly! The Rockville location is small and in industrial area. Easy to find and parking is easy.

Pandan Filling Doughnut. We also had the ube and mango filled doughnuts. Absolutely delicious !

I've been meaning to visit Gwenie's! I've heard amazing things about it. I've been twice and omg, everything is absolutely DIVINE!! I tried the flan, perfect. Delicious, just the right amount of sweetness. The Ube cheesecake, WOW! So so yummy!! I went back to try their doughnuts. Tried the mango, ube and pandan, all absolutely amazing. The filling is creamy and not too sweet, the doughnut itself is a beautiful texture. Crispy yet soft. I have to come back and try the rest if their desserts. BIG FAN!!! My new favorite place for treats. Parking is easy, every time I visit there's plenty of spots. Location is a bit hidden so make sure you drive a bit slowly or you'll miss it. It's on the same parking lot as Tough Temple Gym. Please try this place, it's decadent and absolutely delicious! Service is great as well. I'm always greeted and asked if I need any assistance. All my questions have been answered. Staff is friendly and polite.

I'm automatically interested if it's a bakery with more "unique" flavors- This Asian American (Filipino) Bakery has my heart (and wallet!) Gwenie's is worth the hype. The building is small, to the side somewhere, but has so many sweets to choose from! From donuts, pies, cheesecakes, and cookies to traditional Filipino sweets! I'm personally a fan of tropical flavors like coconut, mango, etc so I had to get the mango cream filled donut; I also got their popular, Ube Cheesecake. The Ube Cheesecake was SO good. The crust especially is amazing- it's got coconut for sure and it tastes like a caramelized coconut rice sugarcane concoction. It definitely tastes like a Cheesecake so I wish the Ube flavor was more potent, but it's still a must buy! Next time, I'll try their Ube Pie. Their Mango donut is clearly popular, as I took the last donut standing. But, I'm a little disappointed because I anticipated a STRONG in your face mango taste. I found the mango more subdued in flavor. Tasty, but based on my personal taste preferences, maybe next time I'll try the Ube Donut. In general, Ube or Pandan flavors are a MUST when at a Filipino Bakery! I highly recommend checking this place out! Plus, it's so refreshing to have sweets that are different than your generic vanilla or chocolate!

The lady working behind the counter was super sweet. Their location is super tight and parking was hard. The pastries are no doubt very yummy but it's so expensive.

We got an Uber cake here for my friends' birthday. It was truly an amazing treat! The cake was moist and the whipped icing was fluffy and delicious. I hope to go back to try their other pastries or their lunch platters

I'd heard good things about Gwenie's so I made it my mission one weekend to check them out - totally worth the hype! I wasn't sure if I was in the right spot at first since it's tucked into a fairly industrial looking shopping center but it's clearly marked which I appreciated. Their storefront isn't very big but the variety is still there and there's plenty to choose from. I tried a nutella donut and the ube roll and both were phenomenal! If it was a little warmer I'd have gotten the halo halo too - note to self for next time!

I stopped by Gwenie's Pastries at the end of the day on a Sunday. The shop is just a shop- no place to sit and eat- but it's filled with different snacks. The employees are very nice and ready to help you with anything. I got a slice of the Ube pie that was just absolutely incredible. It was beautiful and tasted even better! The red bean loaf on the other hand was a little flat. I need to come back and try the donuts!

YESSS, this is probably my new favorite bakery in MD!!!! the pastries are delicious. i had the sweet donut flavors (ube, pandan) and i wanted to try the mango one since that looked amazing as well. these probably count as one of the best donuts i've had in my life, not greasy at all and the filling was fluffy & not too sweet. amazing, i want to know what magic they enact .. they also do an amazing deal one hour before closing - half priced baked goods!!! - come out, support, let's buy them out and give them the recognition they deserve!

I tried out Gwenie's pastries on a whim and it was overall good. I tried the ube pie slice and ube cheesecake slice, and they were overall good, but I think the flavor is a bit of an acquired taste. The presentation is lovely and the graham cracker crust is yummy. I look forward to trying more items off their menu.

Sweet little spot. Based on the interior, it's definitely meant to be a to-go place; there's not much of an ambiance--just a bare room with pastries. I got the ube halo-halo, which was good. I also ordered a Thai tea (solid as well). The sapin-sapin was delicious and chewy. Of the pastries, I had the ube bun and mango donut. Both were incredible. Super moist with distinct Filipino flavors. I would get them again. The service was slow. There seemed to only be one worker, and it took forever for her to make the Thai iced teas/halo-halo. She was nice though. Great food overall, and I can't wait until the Arlington location opens up.

All around fantastic. Ordered a ton of stuff including the halo halo, ube donut, pandan donut, ube bun, ube cookie, ube pie, original sylvana, and a couple more. They were all great with the pie and the sylvana. The only disappointment was the ube custard cake, the cake was a bit dry and didn't have much flavor but otherwise would highly recommend all the options. Can't wait to go again and try the ube cheesecake

Small bakery situated in the heart of Rockville. I heard about it on Instagram Reels and realized that I had to try it ASAP! First, I had the Ube Donut. It was filled with ube filling and fried to a soft texture. It was not too sugary, and the ube did not overpower the overall taste. I also tried the Sapin Sapin, and it had a jello texture. The combination of coconut, ube, and mango came together beautifully, creating a delightful tropical flavor profile. Also, The self-service pantry made the service quick and easy. Overall, this bakery offers staple filipino pastries done right.

I loved the spice on the crab fat lechon- wish the portion was a tad bigger tho! The fried rice, pancit, sisig, short rib, ube pancakes, and garlic rice were also fabulous. But the star for me was the fried adobo chicken. It was flavorful, crispy, and paired perfectly with the pickled veg. The pineapple ube tres leche ended the meal on a sweet note. My mistake not realizing it didn't come à la mode only downside was that the AC wasn't running well in the downstairs seating so it was quite warm. But overall, a great place to have a great meal!

Unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. I asked the server if she was Thai, and she nodded to indicate that she was. However, after that, her attitude was cold and unfriendly.
