After finishing up with an errand in Canaan, CT around noon on a Friday, we were famished. There weren't too many eateries (perhaps I didn't notice) that were opened especially the day after Thanksgiving so Roma it was when it was referred to us. Their outside sign writes, 'Connecticut's New York Style Pizza'. Hubs and I shrugged our shoulders and said our Hail Marys. Friday was chilly- so it felt good walking in to this small pizza joint and feeling toasty. Our table was sprayed with a cleaning solution and wiped down. And in the times we're living in now, I appreciate that- and not just 'wiped' with a dry rag. The menu has appetizers, salads, entrees, etc- we're here for pizza. I didn't see a mushroom pie- but I was told they can make one. I skipped that thought and decided on the Margherita while hubs went for 1/2 pepperoni+1/2 plain. Lemme mention- this is not the place to get artisanal pies with the charred spots I love. This is just straight up, good NYC dough- and I actually loved it. The crust had a wonderful slight crunch with an excellent chew. The rest of the dough was delightful too. The sauce had some seasoning (which I never like)- theirs was nice and not overwhelming. I adore cheese (American cheese has never been part of my lexicon)- but when it comes to my pizza, I like a good ratio of it and not too much of it. I mean...is there such thing as too much cheese on a regular slice or pie? Unless I'm asking for 'extra cheese' on my pie- then that's a different story. My Margherita had a very tasty feel- but needed to dial back on the basil and less cheese would've had me ordering another one to take home. Service from Stephanie was friendly and we enjoyed that feeling here. Music played in the background without taking over. Overall, Roma is where you want to be with something for everyone. Plus, it dished up a real good pie at that with awesome prices for each of our 6-slice Small pies. read more

First time here, (After traveling from New York). I was AMAZED at the quality and flavor of the pizza. We ordered the meat lovers with olives and a margarita pizza with the fried mozzarella app. The fried mozz was a perfectly cooked chunk of cheese with a to-die-for marinara sauce. The meats were all delicious and they were not stingy on toppings. The margarita was perfect and fresh. Dolly waited on us and let me tell you, this young lady deserves a raise! She was working her butt off on this super busy Friday night. She kept a smile and a great attitude the whole time! Rockstar! The place is cozy but not crowded. We really had an excellent meal here. One note for the operator is that when the sun comes in the front windows it blinds diners at some of the tables. I would put some sort of shade that could be lowered just enough to protect them or put an awning over the windows. Food was absolutely enjoyable as was the service. This restaurant has no attention to detail . The pizza has no flavor since new ownership. I had a $75 gift certificate, and out of all my orders on that 75, nothing was even close to good. These folks have got it right, and they consistently do a great job -- and this is over several years now. I've eaten in their restaurant and the quality has been consistent both ways. And even more often I've had their delivery, and guess what? That's consistent too. Speaking of delivery (not an easy thing to get right) they actually seem to usually deliver a couple of minutes before the promised time. Stopped here on a whim while coming back from a trip to the beautiful parks in the area. We were hungry for a slice of good NY pizza, and the big sign on the outside saying "Connecticut's New York Style Pizza" fit the bill. The place is situated next to a converted train station and adorable-looking diner. On the inside it's a small place, but cozy. The big pizza case right as you walk in really tempts you. We just chose some knots, cheese slices, and sodas to go since it was such a nice day outside. Pizza was cooked perfectly! Crispy, thin, wonderful crust with just the right amounts of sauce and cheese. Knots were very well done, too. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Disgraceful. The Restaurant's website has a link to an old PDF menu with prices 20% lower than the current menu. The restaurant told me that if I go to the website, click the menu button, then click to order online, the prices are correct there, and that I shouldn't click on the PDF that shows up first. WHAT? That's ridiculous. They want people to ignore the easy-to-find menu and instead think they should know to go through some convoluted process to find the real one? I don't care how good the food was - and it was pretty good - but an extra $4.25 for 2 subs? They need to honor the prices their website PDF has. I will not go back. The pizza and garlic knots were good. However, one person behind the counter wasn't wearing a mask, and the other wasn't wearing a mask properly. There were too many people inside to social distance properly, and people weren't wearing masks properly inside. So the food could be fine, but the COVID enforcement is an utter fail.
