    a pizza in a box

Tommy B's Slice Shop is amazing! We are from New haven CT and we KNOW good pizza. We came here to get the Vodka sauce with sausage. The crust is a perfect new haven style. The vodka sauce is ON POINT! And the shredded mozzarella with the fresh mozzarella makes an already perfect pie even better. They even think about the way the basil cooks and wilts in the oven and offer it fresh on the side. Now on to the square pie which is in a class of its own. The crust is the perfect amount of crispy and soft. The cheese melted in the middle and crunchy on the sides gives the most delectable mouth feel. When, not if, when you visit make sure you get both round and square. Well worth the hour and a half drive. We will be back.

Really good pizza! We were off the beaten path on Thursday and starving. Loved it here. Two slices of Greek pizza and all good.

We visited once to sample the pizza, but after viewing a series of "vintage" pieces on display, we left.

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is welcoming, comfortable, and unpretentious. It feels like home--a place for a great meal, a good drink, and even better company. Chef Kevin has created a menu that strikes the perfect balance. The classics are beautifully executed, while the rotating features are creative, thoughtful, and rival those at restaurants charging far more. The value is exceptional: occasion-worthy dining without the occasion-worthy prices. Portions are generous, quality is outstanding, and the service may be even more impressive than the food. The entire staff genuinely cares about making every visit memorable. A few insider tips: if you see anything Mediterranean on the menu, order it. And Chef Kevin's buffalo sauce and blue cheese are signature creations that rank among the best you'll find anywhere. One of my favorite moments was reconnecting with Chef Kevin after so much time. While The Hillsdale House itself was a new setting for me, the experience felt instantly familiar because of him. His style, his attention to detail, and the personal touch he brings to every dish transported me right back to the many meals and memories my family and I shared with him over the years. It's amazing how a person can create that same feeling regardless of the location. That warmth carries through the entire restaurant, making it a place where you can bring your family knowing they'll be treated with the same care and hospitality. Restaurants can serve great food. Places like The Hillsdale House create memories. I left grateful, full, and already planning my next visit. With football season just around the corner, I'm especially excited to return, enjoy another incredible meal, and spend a Saturday cheering on the Buckeyes with Chef Kevin. If this visit was any indication, it'll feel just like coming home.

We moved our table, since that dining room had only two patrons in it The food was good, clam strips to die for, good drinks, good service, but horrible food presentation. I ordered a margarita pizza with added toppings. It came as a white pizza, the four mushrooms dried out and the six thinly sliced tomatoes had no flavor. I asked to take it home and then ordered an English cut prime rib. It came on a small platter, practically spilling over the edges, and piled so high that I was unable to cut the meat for fear of splashing the Au jus all over my clothes. My husband's Beef stroganoff was delicious, but just piled up on a plate. I hope they work to improve the dining experience and provide better food presentation and maybe work on their pizzas, since this place does have great potential.

The service was absolutely wonderful. Ryan came by personally several times to check on me and so did some of his servers. His place is very clean and it's a nice atmosphere. I also noticed, on the way out, that they have hand dipped ice cream, but I was absolutely stuffed! Maybe next time, for sure ! Thank you, sir. I do appreciate it.!

Neapolitan is definitely my favorite style pizza and I was excited to try a new spot. We started with some bottled and canned beers while enjoying their nice patio. It was a good space with good music. We were all pretty hungry and decided to start with some wings. They were tender and juicy, but a bit flabby and not crispy. They might be wood fired? This wasn't clarified on the menu. We wanted to try the white meatball ricotta pizza but it wasn't available, a quick shift was made to the hot honey sausage and a plain cheese Sicilian. The hot honey sausage pizza was soaked with grease, hard to pick up, basically wet. There was a thick layer of grease under the pizza as well. I found the topping combination to be much too sweet for me, and the pizza was topped far too heavily for how thin the dough was. The best part was the crust. This wasn't what I expected from a wood fired - Italian inspired pizza. It was normal, heavy, Americanized pizza. The Sicilian was better, but still very heavily topped with a thick layer of sauce and cheese. I like how browned the cheese was, the undercarriage was lightly browned. The crust was flavorful here as well. The Sicilian was the lighter choice and better executed, to my surprise. To note, nothing was mentioned to the staff since this is what we were served, we trust the kitchen is putting out food they would be proud of and is served as they would like it to be served. I'm sure they were popular with the local folks, but it's not worth going out of your way to try. I wouldn't return, especially based on the unprofessional manner of the owners responses on feedback.
