Clutch and affordable for a large group. Always friendly and some creative pizza combos that will surprise you how good they are (like the pastrami Ruben pizza)! Greasy, yes. But perfect for a day in the pool after some drinks.

A fucking joke. The food is broiler or microwave finished. It's embarrassingly awful.

Good food, some* of the waitresses are more interested in hanging out than doing their job. But mostly an average experience.

Ima keep ranting about this part of New York. This area really don't got a lot of good flavor. And…read morewhat I mean by that, like the cooking just ain't cooking for most of these spots. And idk what it is, it could be just the local folks don't got that much flavor in their taste buds and they the anti-City folk type so most of the businesses just lack in that field. With that said... this was a pretty decent Italian spot I will say WITH that consideration in mind. I did have the ravioli with slow cooked carne inside and that was delicious. My wife got the lasagna and... it was iiiitte. Family next to us were raving about it and like they were nice and we were being polite. But like let's be real here - it tasted like Stouffer's. Not that it's a knock, but at that point, you paying for the atmosphere. Which I will say the indoors is nice. You can have a nice date night or family outing here. There's a bar and plenty of parking. The service was on point and very accommodating with our new born. Who we were chopping it up with our waiter, and found out the owner's name is also the same as our kid so that was fun talking with them on. The garlic bread - idk if it's supposed to come cold, but it had like tomato sauce on it, it was like the complimentary bread with some extra shit on it. But I wasn't feeling that, but my inner Italian side just kept dipping it in my red, and it was all good. I'm glad we came here but probably won't be back if given the chance. But we looked around, and it seemed like to be the only viable Italian restaurant in the area so, if given under the same conditions, we would be back lol. I just went back and forth there like 3 times. Is that non-Ai enough of a review for you Yelp? After they flagged me for actually structuring and editing my reviews like in old school English class. Now yelp is promoting "Yelp Assistant" even though it's Ai. Gtfo here lmao

We were not disappointed. We were seated promptly by our lovely hostess, and Shaun immediately came over to recite specials and to take our orders. He was attentive and we knew we were in good hands! We started with the Dr. Fox Cocktail: Angostura bitters, Bulleit Rye, Apple Liqueur, Dry Curacao, and Sweet Vermouth, which was perfect. It was accompanied by a hummus trio to spread on the bread. There was also a delicious foccacio. Next we were served a perfect salad, delicately dressed, and what made the salad so delightful was that the lettuce was torn into manageable pieces. A pet peeve of mine is large lettuce leaves that are difficult to wrangle, and this was not the case here. There were also tiny bits of cauliflower that gave the salad a nice texture and crunch.  I had the Stuffed Artichoke and my husband had Shrimp Gamberi on an Arugula salad. Both were substantial and beautifully seasoned. We had two glasses of an Argentine Tomero Malbec. It was a generous pour. For the main course, I had Polla al Limone (Lemon Chicken) over spinach. A simple dish done well. My husband had the Halibut special, a classic Mediterranean baked halibut with tomatoes, capers, and olives. So good that he finished it all...a rarity for him. (The halibut was pricey and it would be appreciated if the price was mentioned when the specials were gone over. Perhaps we should have asked.) We finished with a Sorbetto al Lampone, a tart raspberry sorbet in a dark chocolate shell and sliced.  And as we left, our sweet hostess brought over Lucianno, the most adorable puppy, to send us off with puppy kisses! We definitely will be back...especially for the wild boar ragu over pappadelles. One nitpicking observation. The entrance to the restaurant was a tad shabby. We mistook it for the service entrance. It needs to be spruced up to match the superb food inside!

It honestly takes a really good pizza from a 8/10 to a 5/10. The mozzarella has that block quality with a little bounce and squeak to the cheese rather than a creamy pull. That's my only complaint. The sauce is nice as well as the toppings and the dough. Crust is thin with a little sag, it's not new haven pizza, no char and not a lot of crunch or blistering. Most items are well portioned and enough to share between at least 2 people if sampling. Caesar salad is enough to share between 2 people if you want to sample the menu. Great lettuce quality and better than most restaurants. It's not the bagged precut garbage with all stalks. They use little gem variety. Fries are shoestring and oh so delicious to snack on. Not an insult, but if you like McDonald's fries, these are even better. IYKYK Meatballs were ok, nothing super special. Nice texture, but not dry. Doesn't really have a fresh flavor. The meat flavor reminded me of a mass produced meatloaf from a diner. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but for someone with a very refined palate, I think it needs a little "life" mixed in. The sauce helps that a bit. Cocktails were nicely done. You could taste all the flavors listed in the cocktail. Not overly strong and not weak. Definitely would come back to sample more food. To be clear, I doubt people think "Winsted CT" is a foodie destination, but if you stop at Mario's Tuscany Grill, it will be from that point forward. Starting at the top, there is plenty of parking on the street. This area of Main Street Winsted is actually ok for a little walk on the sidewalk. Once inside Mario's, the staff is very warm and friendly, showing you to a table quickly. The dining room has ample space, you do not feel crowded. The menu is amazing, on previous visits the Seafood Combination and Chicken Milanese is simply perfect and delicious with an ample portion! Here's where it gets even weirder and BETTER. If you visit their Facebook page, you see pictures of amazing platters of food. YET!, that isn't on the menu. So I asked the very friendly waiter, "how do we do these platters?".. He simply said, tell me what you want! My friend and I collaborated, and said "start with steak gorzonzola".. Ok, then what? "Well Some Clams", "how many?" Me: "I dont know,a dozen?" "that enough?", Me: "No of course not" Waiter: "What else?" Me: "well, some scallops, some shrimp, and more clams".. Waiter replies, "Ok, we'll make it nice" .. "Nice" has to be the understatement of the year. This platter comes out, Steak Gorgonzola, flanked with 18 clams, half a dozen scallops, grilled shrimp, asparagus, Caprese tomato salad.. it was unbelievable.. Everything was cooked to perfection, the presentation was absolutely outrageous, and it was incredibly delicious!! If comfort had an address, it would be Mario's. We always kick things off with a small pizza for the table, because that's the law here. The bread and tomato relish? Should be sold by the gallon. I would pay an irresponsible amount of money for it. If you know, you know. Last night's table lineup was elite: * One of us ordered the veal Neapolitan -- fresh, tender veal in a vodka sauce so good it should have its own fan club. * Another went for the penne alla vodka with shrimp and scallop, which was hands‑down the best dish of the night. The seafood takes an already top‑tier vodka sauce and somehow makes it even better. As a Jersey boy, I don't say that lightly. * I decided to go rogue and step outside my usual penne vodka or steak. I wanted veal parm. I've never had anything fried here besides the calamari (which is amazing), so I figured: why not? Here's the plot twist: The veal parm was the only dish I've ever had at Mario's that didn't hit the usual Mario's standard. The veal itself was totally different from the fresh, delicious cut in the Neapolitan, and the breading had a little... funk. Almost like it had been prepped ahead and picked up a freezer‑burn vibe. Not bad -- just not Mario's‑level magical. But here's the thing: One imperfect dish doesn't change the fact that Mario's is one of our all‑time favorite restaurants. The atmosphere, the people, the consistency, the warmth -- it's all unbeatable. We love this place and will absolutely be back, probably embarrassingly soon. Mario's is home. Even when one dish misses, the experience never does.
