Ate here a bunch of times, but it has been a while since my last visit. The servers were very nice, but the food was horrible. I ordered a calzone with eggplant. There was no ricotta cheese in the calzone. The eggplant was very greasy and made me sick. The crust was not crispy almost like a microwaved hot pocket. My wife ordered a turkey wrap. The bacon was very strange. It had only one piece of turkey on it and no cheese. Is there new ownership here? read more

We recently picked up take from Stateline & it was absolutely disgusting! The pizza had a strange flavor, and did not have extra cheese even though we requested and payed for it. The chicken in a wrap was very rubbery and chewy. Overall the quality of the food has gone downhill since the new owners have taken over. The entire atmosphere also doesn't feel welcoming like it did either, the "localness" of stateline definitely doesn't exist anymore either. Living locally we ate here or did take out often but are sad to say we will no longer support this restaurant. read more

Food price / quality ratio 9.5. Atmosphere is a little bit like a diner. Greek style (pan) pizza. I had the Spicy Chicken, Gorgonzola, Chopped Tomato, Jalapeño pizza. One of the best pizzas I've ever had. I ordered TWO of them to go, and we were on the motorcycle!!! Service was very good, and drinks were reasonably priced. Highest quality ingredients available. This place deserves the patronage. 12/21/19 Have been here 7-8 times now. We drive 50 miles one way to get here, that's how good this pizza is. I'm now getting THREE Spicy Chicken Gorgonzola pizzas to go (in addition to the one we eat while here). Wrap each slice individually in cellophane, freeze, then thaw 30 to 50 seconds in microwave, then 3 to 4 minutes in a convection/toaster oven at 425 degrees. As good as fresh!!! The owner invented this recipe, and each pizza is cooked on a special "dimpled" pan that creates a unique crispy crust. read more

We ordered take-out tonight, including two pizzas and two salads. We were told that the order would be ready in 25 minutes. We got there 30-35 minutes after our call and still waited another ten minutes. We got our pizzas, but not the salads. After another five to ten minutes, my daughter reminded the cashier that we hadn't yet received our entire order. While we were there, another take-out customer came in to complain that her order had been incomplete. I don't know if there are is new management or if they're just really understaffed. Once we got home, we learned that one of the pizzas was very under-done. I hope that they make changes soon. read more

Do not stop to eat here unless you are starving. The floors, walls and seats are covered in grease. The mozzarella is oily, and the mushrooms and hamburger in our calzones were from cans. I stopped by here this past Thursday night by myself for dinner. I had passed stateline pizza earlier that evening on my way to hike up Mt Frissel and decided that I would stop there on my way home. Whenever I arrived at just before 8 PM the lobby was full of people waiting for pickup. So it wasn't too big of a surprise that whenever I placed my order for a small chicken blue (blue cheese dressing, hot sauce and chicken) and they told me it would be about 25 minutes. After only a 20 minute wait my pizza was ready and I was out the door. I grabbed a piece of it as soon as I got into the car only to watch the cheese and all the toppings for that piece fall off and into the box. I thought that it may have been because the pizza was still hot but it proved to be a problem even after it had cooled. This pizza like all pizzas can be broken down into it's three major components: sauce, crust and cheese although this specific pizza also had the extra 4th component of toppings. As described above the sauce for this pizza was a blue cheese dressing. There was an ample amount of it and I enjoyed it, especially whenever I got some of the pungent blue cheese with it. I do wish that there had been a little more blue cheese in it though. The crust of the pizza was of medium thickness and was good as well. The exterior was crispy including the bottom while the interior was soft and it sort of reminded me of a deep dish crust. Unfortunately I can't say too much about the cheese of the pizza because it got lost between the blue cheese from the sauce and the toppings. At least the toppings were flavorful as the chicken with hot sauce was right up my alley. My only complaint about them was that some of the chicken pieces were quite large and I wish that they had cut them smaller. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Stateline Pizza seems to make a pretty good pizza and even though I didn't get much flavor from the cheese I did enjoy the rest of the ingredients. read more

Went here today with some family because we'd heard they had a good lunch special. During "lunch hours" they offer whatever you want off their regular menu OR a small menu with like 7 different options, each for $5. The $5 lunch does not come with any sort of side salad or even a drink included but, you know, it's still $5. We all ended up getting the Meat Lasagna dish, so I can't comment on any sort of variety. Our waitress was capable and faked enthusiasm well. We were one of two tables in a pretty large restaurant and it seemed to take forever for our food to come out without the waitress offering any sort of check-in or explanation. The surprisingly delicious Lasagna was paired with an extremely hard hard roll. The lack of business offered the waitresses some downtime and they sat and chatted at the booth directly next to us. I don't really care if my waitress sits and chats but it seemed kind of weird for her and her disenchanted co-worker to settle in right next to us instead of one of the many booths farther away but still within ear and eye shot so they could keep tabs. Wrapping up the meal, the less enthusiastic of the wait staff checked in on us before dropping the bill, taking longer than I'd have liked to come back around to pick it up. The food was good enough for me to want to go back and the price for the lunches are awesome but I'd probably only return for take out. read more

I have to say that State Line is the cleanest pizza restaurant I've ever visited. It opened at this location within the last year, and everything (tables, chairs, plates, etc.) is new, so it has a nice vibe to it - not dive-y like a typical pizza joint. Dark brown booths flank the walls, and the tables still have their gleam. I've eaten here twice now, and the food is pretty average. This evening's dinner was a cheese calzone with black olives. A plain calzone is $6.50, and all additional toppings are $1.00. I think that's fair for people ordering meat or specialty cheese as toppings, but $1.00 extra isn't really a bargain for olives that come from a can. The calzone I ordered was warm but not piping hot, and the portion was reasonable but not huge (Roma's, also in Canaan, has enormous portions for a similar price). Even though it was fairly early on a Friday night and the place wasn't packed, the service was slow. I ate with a large party of co-workers, and several of us were waiting at a table for at least 20 minutes before anyone came to take a drink order. Since the restaurant didn't know we were expecting more people, it's not like they were holding up service for more of our party to arrive. Once drinks were ordered, the salads and the main dishes came later in a decent amount of time. However, six people in the group were served at once, and the other few people didn't get their dinners until at least 10 minutes later. I think this could have been timed better, especially since nobody ordered anything funky that would take an inordinate amount of time to cook. On the other hand, our waitress was accurate, didn't mess up any orders, and was competent when handling eight separate checks. State Line does have a varied menu. Besides pizza and calzones, they have a seafood menu that includes fried clam strips and fried scallops. There are Italian dishes such as shrimp scampi as well as hot and cold subs. Appetizers include items such as fried mozzarella sticks, fried jalapeno poppers, and buffalo chips (whatever those are). State Line is an agreeable choice for a cheap night out. Just don't expect to get in and out quickly. read more

This is definitely the spot in Canaan. The pizza is different then anything in town because they serve only pan pizza which is amazing. They also have a friend ravioli which I have rarely seen but is so good as well. They have a very friendly staff and are fairly priced. The cannoli pie is definitely something to indulge in after your meal! It is absolutely phenomenal! It is also nice that they have booths plus regular table seating. On a not busy hour you can sit yourself. They also have a bar indoors which is seperate with cable television. I personally don't drink but for those who do it is definately a big hangout on a Friday and Saturday. They are PACKED. Definitely worth it! read more

The pizza is consistently mediocre, which is expected and fine because it is generally quick, easy and cheap. However, when you call and order the pizza and are told 25 minutes for a large cheese AND THEN must sit and wait in the lobby for an addition 45 minutes, mediocre just won't cut it! Speaking of cutting it, with that full 70 minutes of pizza cooking time you'd think it would be cut all the way through? Nah, no time for that. Plenty of time to burn it though. The good news, equal lack of treatment for all at Stateline Pizza! I watched all four tables that were in dining in on a Friday night (maybe that was the red flag?) sit and wait and wait for their dinners. Second time very disappointed. 1st time ordered grinders with everything on them, got them with nothing on them but meat and cheese, these where to go so we didn't have time to get them corrected. Tonight is the 3rd time in a row I have attempted to order the same grinder over the phone. Steak and cheese, only steak and cheese, nothing else on the grinder. This is the 3rd time in a row I have gotten anything but what I ordered. First time it came with lettuce and tomato. Second time it came with steak, no cheese. Third time it came with everything. As a resident in a local town surrounding Canaan, I have visited Stateline Pizza on several occasions and have found the service and food to be a hit or miss. I have ordered one thing and gotten another upon a takeout occasion, and on the next got what I ordered. When I got the wrong order, my husband called the restaurant and left a message for the owner. The owner did return the phone call.....2 days later at 9 p.m.! Recently we placed an order over the phone based on the menu on the internet. We ordered a party pizza w/ 3 toppings that was listed as being 24.75. When my husband called he wanted to confirm the price and the girl responded that the real price was 25.75 because of a price increase. He placed the order and went to pick it up. When he went to pay the total came to 28.75. He explained that he had just called and ordered it and the price was 25.75, so the owner came out and explained to my husband that the menu on the internet was put up by the phone company, not Stateline Pizza. My husband said that is fine, but when he called to confirm the price it was 25.75. The owner was very rude and adamant about the 28.75 sticking so my husband left without the pizza. My advice to anyone who visits it to double check your receipt when you get it and confirm that the price listed on the menu is what you paid. I will not be visiting Stateline Pizza anytime soon based on the number of poor experiences to good experiences. read more
