Beautiful selection of high end wedding gowns! I have come here twice--once for my sister and once for a friend. Both times, we had excellent experiences with the staff. We had private viewing areas and were able to bring our own champagne (but no wine). They supplied the champagne flutes! My biggest critique is that many of the gowns that you can try on are in smaller sizes. Therefore, it can be discouraging to those who may not fit a size 2-4. read more

Called this place to see if they have Mother dresses. Before the lady even discussed anything, she says just so you know, our dresses start at $5,000 dollars! Okayyyy!!! I thought that was super weird! How does she know my wallet? Almost like she was trying to screen her clientele from coming there and only deal with people who have that kind of money. In November 2019, I found the wedding dress of my dreams after booking my very first bridal salon appointment at Roma Sposa. Giulia's thoughtful expertise helped me select a beautiful Serge Jevaguine gown (only the 4th dress that I tried on) and a beautiful veil that complimented me and the aesthetic so well! The pandemic made us postpone our original wedding date but we finally tied the knot on 8/16/21!! Though my wedding was in Big Sur, California, Giulia was patient and considerate of all of my needs from afar. The staff carefully packed my dress for transport to my destination wedding. As a general rule, I am completely against marriage and don't really understand those who "need" someone else to complete them. I think that it shows more love and admiration for someone when you stay in a relationship NOT because you "have" to (marriage license, divorce is a bitch, the kids, etc.), but because everyday is a choice to stay. Maybe that's just me. Putting that aside, when one of my close friends asked me to help her look for a dress because her father passed away years ago, and she looks to me as a mentor of sorts, how could I say no. Roma Sposa helped me a great deal when shopping for a dress. The owner/manager was super helpful. I came here thinking, not only would I be bored out of my mind, but that it would be hard as well. The owner made me look like a f'in rock star in front of my friend, and she couldn't have been nicer. I wish I remember her name, but she's a very beautiful, intelligent Italian woman, and she'd be hard to miss if you ask for her, which I highly suggest. I imagine most men will never need to come here, but for the women reading this, if you believe in marriage, and you are looking for the dress of your dreams, you HAVE to come here. I bought my stunning Ines Di Santo wedding dress from Roma Sposa during thanksgiving 2019. My august 2020 San Diego wedding did not happen as planned, but we were able to move the special day to July 3, 2021. Giulia was a phenomenal help in my acquisition of the dress. I live in Manitoba, Canada and was supposed to come back to Birmingham for my fitting during my may 2020 bridal shower. Considering covid, we had to cancel the bridal shower and I wasn't able to fly to Michigan. Fast forward to February 2021, and the designer finally agreed to send me the dress directly considering the unique situation of not being able to pick it up in person. This place sucks. Do yourself a favor and make the trip to Ann Arbor to visit Beloved Bridal. - The average American woman weighs between 170 and 190 pounds and is 5'4" tall. I weigh 150 pounds and am 5'6" tall, and none of the dresses I tried on even came close to zipping. One mermaid gown didn't even fit over my hips, so I couldn't try it on. They are all "sample sizes", so that you can leave feeling like Honey Booboo's mom at NYFW. - They average between $4K and $6K, without alterations. They will tell you they can give you a "special deal" of 10% off, but they will keep offering it to you if you don't buy on the first visit. - But they will try to push you into buying a dress, even if it's your first visit. They'll tell you you don't have enough time to order, even if you do. They will also pester you with follow up phone calls. Ain't nobody got time for that. Bottom line: This should be a happy process, and you should be given the courtesy of thinking through your decision in a comfortable environment. read more

I flew in from out of state so I could try on dresses with my mother (who was recently diagnosed with cancer). I specifically chose Roma Sposa for their selection and their reputation for outstanding customer service. When I made my appointment, I told the receptionist I was looking to try on dresses from a certain designer they carry, but I was open to ideas. Needless to say, my consultant allowed me to pull whatever I wanted to try on (which was wonderful). She also made suggestions, which was great. Throughout the appointment, however, my consultant would leave to take care of another client. At one point, she had me try on a couture size 2 dress (I am usually a size 4). Obviously, the dress did not fit and was the furthest from flattering. If that was not a hit to my self-esteem enough, my consultant left my appointment and failed to help me get out of my dress. This appointment was deflating, to say the least. As we were leaving, the manager of the store tried to make amends by giving me a complimentary magazine. Which, of course, was a sweet gesture, but failed to make amends. The whole shop gives off bad vibes. read more

If you want a designer dress and have money to burn, go to Roma Spoza. Stopped in randomly in the middle of a trunk show, so they would not help me, but let me walk around and look. The prices are astronomical! This is one of shops that carry pretty unattractive, pretty expensive dresses. If you can afford to look that not cute in designer and that's what you want, go for it. Something unusual..they were very insistent I schedule an appointment, though it wasn't my scene. This store is suited for a particular person, and that person isn't me. read more

I went with my sister and it was her first appointment to try on wedding dresses. The whole experience from beginning to end was awkward, rushed and wasn't personal at all. The shop itself is super cramped and the rooms you try dresses on in are really small and oddly set up. The shop also doesn't allow you to take pictures of the bride in the dress which is so weird especially if she wants to look back on the dress or see how it photographs. Our consultant seemed as if she had already clocked out for the day and was super disinterested in the appointment. She was rude whenever anyone had a question or negative comment about the dresses. The bride said she felt super uncomfortable and immediately wanted to leave because the vibes/environment was just not what she had been looking forward to as her first time trying on wedding dresses. You must know that when I went to my appointment I had changed from my business suit and heels into my Gap Khakis, favorite white oxford, and flats (of course I took the heels in with me.) Big mistake. Instead of understanding that I'm an overworked executive, hence my ability to shop there and need for a blissful moment of comfort while doing so, I was greeted by the first attendant with the ogling you'd expect to get at the bar at 220 Merrill. By a 65 year old man. If you were 20. Did I mention she had a nose piercing? Seriously. They didn't ask, I didn't offer an explanation. I thought that my money was what mattered. On we went. You describe what you're looking for and they bring you dresses. Apparently being an overworked executive left me no time to understand that I was supposed to whip off designer names and/or bring pages torn from magazines. ( I had exactly one Bride magazine, bought by my assistant, sitting untouched in my desk drawer.) Sorry, no pictures - but guess what: I know exactly what I want! Simple! That's it - a simple dress. I asked the attendant for elegant-simple. "Think Jackie-O, or Carolyn Kennedy." Yes, you know right where I'm going with this. After waiting, which was great as I finally perused books of dresses and realized that I was right with "simple", in walked Scarlet O'Hara's cast off. Or was it Minnie Pearl? Please tell me in which dictionary "simple" includes the words, "hoops, yards of lace, ruffles, and layers?" Someone call the wax museum and have Madonna's Like a Virgin likeness checked for nudity. The dress is at Roma Sposa. I left after six dresses, having given them two tries... and they looked astonished that I would walk out. One lady commented that I still had time on my appointment. Only her comment was said as if she was saying, 'You just turned down a Mercedes?!?!?" Get over yourself. If I couldn't get it right for my clients by my second try, when I'm charging $10k +++ for a product?? I'd expect them to walk out too. I found a beautiful, simple Carolyn Herrera silk gown at a competitor - and then (best part) we ended up ditching the wedding and getting married while skiing in Colorado. The dress money? Property up north. I say, go, shop, laugh, then leave - and use it for a delightful cocktail story for many girls nights to come. read more

Searching for a formal gown for a black tie event in the Detroit metro area requires immense patience or bottomless bank accounts. I stopped into Roma Sposa while waiting for my appointment at Georgi's to see the stock they carried, and walked away bitterly amused. The setting for Roma Sposa is beautiful, an attractive shop laid out as a boutique with a choice selection of gowns laden in ruffles, crystals, bows, and opulent price tags. I had a general idea of what I might be looking for, and the receptionist filling in for an absent consultant notified me right away she could not help me with fittings but would be happy to point out some of their stock. I told her my specifications (full length, limited train, a-line, must be something I could dance in) and she proceeded to pull out a few $5,000+ dresses without batting an eyelash. Welcome to Birmingham, where maxing your credit card for a one-time event. What jobs do people have that allow them to do this, and how do I get one? Sigh. Designers are the name of the game here, and Monique Lhuillier produces some of the finest pieces in the business. They also carry a number of other lesser known/available designers, like Layla (Jade, I think? I cannot remember). I wasn't interested in satin, barely there backs, and other elements due to the formality of the setting I'm going to be in for this event -- European palaces are not the place to whip out the stripper dress. Not if you're not Russian, at least. Rosa Sposa carries few of those, thankfully. What they have is very fussy, very ornamented in many places, and definitely very princessy. This may suit your tastes. I found I wasn't too thrilled and their evening wear boutique was extremely restricted on sizing (0-4 was the norm). I could come back in for fittings and special requests with a consultant. The problem here is the price curve. I wasn't finding much for a reasonable price ceiling, and as other reviewers have rightfully noted, you can find the same dress much cheaper elsewhere or online. Warning: Don't drink and write.... Super choppy... I'm with Dee T. on this one. Monique Lhuiller all the way. Happen to come in during one of her trunk shows. One of the chic staff ladies helped me pick out some tasteful gowns. I loved the changing room/ display set up. Get dressed behind a curtain, no mirrors, then the curtain opens and your on a stage with mirrors. The impression I get is the initial moment the bride steps out onto the isle.. It's great for that key reaction. anyway, long story short. I found my gown. a M. Lhuiller. And it's beautiful.. The staff was super helpful and honestly happy for me. They knew my search for the 'golden fleece' was difficult. and gave my mother and I a hug as we left. Even the representative of the trunk show gave us a hug. Just like family! hehe ps. they even sent me fabric samples via mail to freshen my memory! I won't see it again until August! Oh, how I am going to miss it! read more

I just had to write a small review to say how absolutely amazing my experience was at Roma Sposa and particulary Lisa. I had just had probably the worst experience at one of their competitors the day before and really wasn't holding out any hope that I was going to find a wedding dress my first time out, but Lisa definitely proved me wrong. From the minute we met I knew she was going to be the one to find me the dress of my dreams. Not only did she allow me to look at other designers during a trunk show (w the featured designer present I may add), she was also incredibly encouraging and sweet. I am not sure what was happening on HS's day but all I know is that my dress was exactly what I had been looking for (Monique Lluhlier of course) but approximately $3000 under my pricepoint! I can't say enough about how much I loved this experience and Lisa in particular. I can't wait for my wedding and I know thanks to Lisa, I truly will be the center of attention (for all the right reasons). read more

I accompanied a bride-to-be here once. This place is by appointment only, meaning you can be sure to get one-on-one attention when you are choosing a couture gown. That's right, couture. You pick a few luxurious gowns out, they pin it on you in the fitting room, fluff up your hair -- make a choice. Then they cut the dress to custom fit you if you find a match. If you've really got it like that, you could get your prom gown here because they offer evening gown options as well. Do I suggest you roll that route? Maybe if you love the Miss America look. Probably the best things are the trunk shows, especially the ones where you get to meet the designer. This place is definitely more for the bride who is going to have a black tie affair or an equivalent and wants the dress to cost as much as the event. Go and get pampered! I'd much rather steer clear of typical white wedding gowns -- if you're like me, this place might make you want to run away screaming before you give in to the Italian silk. read more

I am a complete Monique Lhuilier whore and when it came time to get hitched, I had no other resources in the state but here to try on her gowns. I don't find the staff any snootier than those at the Oakland Field's salon - it was still Field's when I was planning my wedding - and they are definitely more proficient and helpful than the staff at Julie's. - ugh, disaster, horrible, minus 5 stars I found the dress of my dreams here, but bought it elsewhere (paying retail on bridal gowns is like throwing your wallet down the toilet). I loved this whole experience. I am a bride who is from Detroit, lives in Los Angeles, and who is getting married on Mackinac island. I set up the appt. from L.A after a long internet search. This was the first time I was ever trying dresses on and I wanted it to be special for me and my guests. My coordinator at the salon was AMAZING. She was so helpful, added beautiful accents, and took the time to make me shine every time I was trying on a new dress. Aleyciuss Al-Ali. My experience started when I called Roma Sposa to book my appointment to come in and look at dresses, I spoke to a very kind women " Ruth" who booked the appointment but was not there day of. Ruth stated that the day I was going to come in they would have a trunk show featuring a designer that would have the Rep from the company in. I stated I was not looking to try on one particular designer but wanted access to all merchandise in store vs one designer. Ruth told me I could try on other dresses that day but when I got in that was a different story. The Rep from the company was sweet, the staff at Roma another story. They tried stuffing me into this House of Couture bridal line that simply was not working for my body type, but because it was " a trunk show" they just kept on Bringing more dresses in that did not work. Before I went in the dressing room I spotted a dress that I liked and the women completely ignored me and acted like she didn't hear me say it ( because it was not the designer featured In their meaningless and waste of time trunk show) which made made me uncomfortable and knew that this was a joke and that they wanted to sell me the dresses featured that day and not what would have made me happy as a bride or what would have looked the best. After wasting an hour and a half of my time I decided to leave, the store never even followed up with me to see how things went or if I wanted to come back in another day. Truly disappointed as they pride themselves on being the best. If you want to be treated like it's all about them and not you this is your place! read more

I went here in early August with a friend to look at some knock out dresses. Our budgets were 10-12k respectively. Even with some wiggle room in there the lady who helped us gave us dresses which were around 15k and up. It seemed a little frustrating to give a price point and have her repeatedly go out of the parameters of it. Another issue was that I'm bigger in size than my friend (she's a 4, I'm a 10) but the samples that were picked for me were 4/6's. A few that I loved wouldn't even fit over my head. So not only did that add to a mental complex about my "size" about a the spotlight dress for MY DAY. It was plain irritating. This was my second dress shopping event and I was really quite shocked that they didn't offer crinolines, or corsets for undergarments. They do have a very nice selection of fantastic dresses and a even better selection of belts and hair accessories. read more

After a long 2 months of looking, I found that magic the minute I entered Roma Sposa in Birmingham, Michigan. The dresses were breathtaking, and the people were so patient and kind. They allowed me to pick whichever dresses I could potentially envision myself in on my special day. They gently pulled the dresses back for me to try on, while also giving me thorough explanations on all the designers, their origins, price points, collections, and more. They were so patient and kind with me, especially Lily (my consultant). They allowed me to bring my family with me which is pretty big (5) and made them feel so comfortable and at ease. I finally ended up going with the designer Ines DI Santo, who's dress really did make me feel like a princess. I customized it to my liking and so it could be a 1 of 1 dress. Not only did Roma Sposa help me through that process, but they also were very determined to make sure my dress was personal, intimate and special to me! My experience at Roma Sposa was nothing but a dream come true and I would reccomend them to anyone who wants to look and feel beautiful on their special day. This is not the shop it appears to be . At first glance Roma sposa is a gorgeous bridal salon with designer dresses and accessories. Don't be fooled by the glitz and glamour . Once i bought my overpriced bridal gown , the nightmare really began . The seamstresses there are not knowledgeable in fine garments . I received different seamstresses on each occasion and this caused major difficulties with my dress having so many hands touch it. The employees do not speak great English and are difficult women in general . They do not accept constructive criticism well . If you happen to find "the dress" there , buy the dress and go somewhere else for alterations . Save yourself time , money , headache , heartbreak and frustration . Fabulous selection of gowns in many many different styles! Our stylist was Giulia (Julia) who could not have been more helpful! She asked all the right questions so my daughter could zero in on a wedding gown within her budget, and went out of her way to help my daughter through the selection process. Our 1.5 hour evening appointment quickly turned into a much longer appointment and Giulia (Julia)was so kind to let my daughter re-try on some gowns to help with her final decision. Although I did not find the evening dress I ended up buying, from this boutique, I will say that they had the best customer service I have ever experienced in a bridal shop. The women who assisted me was named Nancy and she did a phenomenal job of making sure I was visioning what I anticipated when entering the store. She followed up with me after I left the boutique via email which was very nice because she made sure to provide pictures and the name of the potential dress for me to decide on. Had a wonderful experience here and found my wedding gown. I am not the traditional bride by any means. My goal was to find the dress I was looking for, try it on, and be done. I called on a whim at the suggestion of a friend and asked for a same day appointment. Remarkably they were able to accommodate my request and busy work schedule. I then shared the design number I was looking for and asked my consultant Giulia to pull anything similar. When I arrived she had everything ready. I tried on two dresses and made my selection quickly and efficiently. I cannot state how much I appreciated not having to try on gowns to "just see" or to humor people. Amazing! read more

Woo HOO!!!! Yay for Roma Sposa .. got my wedding dress here. So my entire experience was amazing. I knew from researching and word of mouth that I should make an appointment and not just walk in. You must make an appointment if you want to get a room to try on dresses. They're very busy. The rooms are soooo big. They assign a girl to each bride-to-be, she will get every gown that your heart desires. You can try on every gown in the shop and she will still take immaculate care of you! If you do not find what you're looking for ... you can go downstairs and look around. There's even more dresses down there! I ended up falling in love with a certain style of dress, than I found 2 pictures that I knew I had to have ... so guess what? They custom made my wedding gown for me. The designer did a sketch for me, we went back and fourth ... the owner Ana was incredible, she helped me the entire time and was very close to me ... They are very fair and are willing to make deals too. I got everything here, my head piece, custom made dress and custom made veil, my sisters dress. Oh about my sisters dress. She was my MOH and had a last minute freak out about her dress ... guess what? I called Roma Sposa and as much as I was ready to be so spazzed out .... they took care of it. Found her a new dress in a perfect color and this was not too long before my wedding day. They are so great. LOVE the seamstress ... her name is on the tip of my tongue. I went to many different salons on my wedding dress hunt and none of them could compare to Roma Sposa. My consultant Lindsey is seriously the sweetest person you will ever meet. I went to Roma to try on dresses for the first time before I visited other salons. She was so patient with me as we went through different dress styles. I tried on one that I absolutely loved, but because I hadn't been to other places, I was unsure. Lindsey encouraged me to go out and try on more before I made a decision. I tried on dozens of other dresses, but the one at Roma was still on my mind. Lindsey fit me in last minute to try on the dress again. There was no question: this was it! I have never been treated so disrespectfully before at any type of business, especially one where they could potentially make a ton of money from you. I called the day before to come in to try on some Amsale bridesmaid dresses. They told me to come on in....so as I showed up they started asking me questions about what dress I needed and so on.... First, they started lecturing me on how different dresses for all the bridesmaids isn't a good idea. Then, they wouldn't even let me try on the dresses saying that it would take up "too much of their time." I didn't appreciate the fact that the woman even gave me her opinion on how my future sister-in-law should or should not allow her bridesmaid to choose the dresses. It wasn't her wedding. Second of all, there are NINE bridesmaids in the wedding....each Amsale dress is about $250 +.....they lost out on potentially a ton of money. I wasn't sure if I was going to buy the dress from them or not, but after being treated with so much disrespect, they made it easy for me. I gave my money to another store in Chicago (Roma Sposa is the only bridal salon that sells Amsale). Another bridesmaid from the same wedding I am in went in there also and they treated her the same way. When she asked to try on the dresses, they wouldn't let her so she asked for the style number and the saleswoman told her she "could find them online." I DO NOT recommend anyone to go here if you are looking for a pleasant experience, especially when you are about to spend a ton of money. I'll definitely remember how they treated me and am sure that I won't be telling any of the five + girls I know who just got engaged to go here. read more

I live in Chicago, but went back home to shop for wedding dresses with my mom. I did some searching and found Roma Sposa. We worked with Miriam and I tried on about 5-6 dresses. Both my mom and I noticed one particular dress at the same time. When I tried it on, we cried. It was stunning. More importantly, I loved the one-on-one attention at Roma Sposa. I also loved the fact that you have your own little area complete with raised runway and mirror. I hate walking out to a room full of other women trying on wedding gowns...it's so intimidating. I was in town on vacation for a weekend and decided not to waste time in my wedding dress hunt. I opted to schedule an appointment here because it looked like they had well known designers and a good salon reputation. When I arrived, I wasn't let down. I was greeted by a consultant who spent about an hour working with me. We tried numerous dresses and eventually found one that was, despite how I thought it looked on the rack, quite flattering. Although, I didn't end up purchasing the dress, it was the front runner of my search for some time. I'd definitely recommend this salon if you are looking for a wedding dress in the area. Sadly I bought it at a competitor ( against my will.. they were so rude but were the only ones who could get the dress that I wanted ). I went to Roma Sposa for a Maria Elena trunk show ( jewelry ). I was treated well from the second I walked in, unlike at the other salon, and was catered ti during my process of picking out my earrings and bracelet. Both were expensive, and a large investment for me and the staff, particularly the owner Anna, were patient and helpful while I tried on ALOT of jewelry. I came back a few times before I bought, and each time the service was consistent. To any bride out there who is planning on going out of state (say Chicago or New York), please, please do yourself a favor and read this review and save yourself from the nightmare I've had. My first ever bridal appointment was with Roma Sposa and I was excited and nervous. I had no idea what to expect, no thoughts of what dress I wanted and overall just uneducated on wedding lingo. The thing about Roma Sposa is that you will never receive false positive-- the associate I was paired with was a short Italian women who knew everything there was to know about bridal gowns. The dress I initially choose off the rack was expensive but something I thought would look nice, the associate was completely honest with me and gave real advice and recommendations rather then trying to make a sale. I felt like I could finally relax and I realize Roma Sposa generally cared about what looked good and what did not. The bridal shop could have pushed the most expensive gown on me but instead they paired me with a designer that loved and I honestly had a hard time taking the dress off, I was absolutely in love. As someone who never had any ideas of what they wanted for a wedding or gown, Roma Sposa made me feel special and comfortable just like any bride should! Not only this, but I continued to return to the shop for accessories and advice, I am always greeted by the manager or owner herself. They are humble and kind and will make any bride feel so special not to mention this is one of the most classy, honest establishments I have ever experienced. If you plan on going to Chicago or New York for a "discounted" gown, keep in mind you are just another number in their books; I was treated terribly when I did travel to other states during my dress shopping experience ( I traveled because I was to shop around more and not choose the first dress I found-- MAJOR REGRET) Roma Sposa is an honest business and the owner and associates genuinely care about their clients. never a bride. never a bridesmaid. ha. I also accompanied a bride-to-be here, and I was very impressed with the service we received upon stepping foot inside this chic bridal boutique. We took a quite stroll around the salon and picked out dresses for her to try on. After picking out about 7 dresses, the woman told us that was a good start and we can use those to gauge what style she was looking for. It was the second dress she tried on that was just absolutely stunning on her. Inez Disanto. Luckily for my friend Inez was having a trunk show the following week and would be able to meet the designer and also have her make a sketch of her dress and sign it. That alone almost brought a tear to my eye. It is pricier than most salons in the area, but in my eyes, you truly are getting what you pay for- an unarguably personal experience choosing your gown, a unique dress that is of the highest quality and overall contentment. I went to Roma Sposa immediately after having a breakdown at another bridal store due to not being able to find a single dress that my chest could fit into without looking completely tacky. All of my dress/style concerns were taken into consideration at Roma Sposa and the ladies there could not have been more amazing. I was fortunate enough to fall in love with a dress during a trunk sale and meet the brand rep who worked with us to ensure that my dress will be made to my specifications. I always knew I would find my dress here but I did not think it was going to be this easy! When I walked in for my appointment, I had my mind set on a silhouette, color, style, etc and thought I would come back another time to get my dress. When I left Roma Sposa, I chose the complete opposite dress from what I envisioned wearing and I couldn't be happier! Luma, my consultant, was amazing! She was so helpful and so sweet. She knew what was going to look good on my figure and the first dress she pulled, was THE one for me. It was actually the first dress I tried on period. I did not think I would be getting my dress on that day but I am so happy I went in and did! I can't thank Luma and the ladies at Roma Sposa enough. Best feeling in the world!
