Lamb shank - pure awesomeness! Get this!

Took my first-ever visit to Roman's Cafe today, after their lamb shank was recommended to me. What a gem! That lamb shank was one of the best dishes I've had in recent memory. The gravy paired with the fresh pita was amazing. This might have been my first visit, but it definitely won't be the last!

Delicious and fast friendly service! Nice atmosphere and noticeably clean. Their pita bread is nice hot and fresh! Absolute value for their plates!

You really can't go wrong here! The food is always fresh and delicious and they have the nicest, most attentive severs!

Complimentary warm pita bread and flavored olive oil for dipping.

It was my first visit to the Roman Cafe and I highly recommend it. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming and the service is prompt and efficient. I had the chicken shawarma bowl in which the chicken is placed on top of grilled veggies including zucchini, red and green bell peppers, onion, and even a couple of smallish new potatoes. There's a dollop of a sauce, the name of which I forget, but it was similar to tzatziki sauce. It appears every customer is given a complimentary warm pita, with a small container of flavored olive oil. Delicious! Comfort food without the nutritional bombshell!

Came for lunch today, sorry I forgot to get pics of menu. We started with the fried cheese and it was the best I've had! We both got the beef shawarma lunch and it was very good. My husband loved it and I liked it. The hummus and salad were good but the pita was the best ever!! They had pizza and OMG it looked scrumptious so next time I'm trying the Chicken Shawarma Pizza it looked soooo delicious. The Lebanese tea was great, I drank 4 glasses. Service was excellent and food was good.

Red fish and chicken plate with humus and pita bread

Had the chicken gyro pizza last time. Saw someone eating the red fish and tried it this time, sooo delicious! And the puffy pita bread they serve at the table with the oil and spice is fantastic!

I love LOVE Roman's. I also love Albasha but I just rather Roman's Grecian sauce and their rice. My husband likes Albasha more but every now and then I'll convince him to get Roman's instead and lately when we've been doing that, I don't know what has changed but they're getting so stingy with how much food they put on your plate especially when their prices went up a couple years ago. If it isn't the rice it's the sauces. It's just very known that they're cutting back with your food. I've attached a picture of my chicken shawarma plate before eating it, look how much rice they put me. If your prices are higher now compared to the last couple of years ago then this is definitely not the time to scoop less when serving your customers.

The lentil soup is MY FAVORITE! I could and probably will eat it everyday. Like to die for. Perfectly spicy.

This is one of three Albasha locations in the southeast Louisiana area. Thank god this location is near our field office in Baton Rouge which is where I was assigned to in early October allowing me to dine at this spot for lunch. The dining area spacious with plenty of seating. It does get a lot of traffic during the weekday lunch hours; probably cause of the lunch specials that are offered which we took advantage of. The menu consists of your typical Mediterranean eats such as hummus, baba ganouj, stuffed grape leaves, spanakopita (spinach pie), chicken/beef schwarma, lamb shank, moussaka, and kabobs (just to name a few). Lunch specials involve plates which include a feta cheese salad, rice pilaf, and hummus that accompany the entrees. Ranging from $14-18, this is quite the steal, especially during times like these. The Lamb Shank lunch I ordered was delicious with plenty of food that I had to have a to-go box to bring the remainders with me. The chicken shwarma and vegetable platter were ordered by other parties who both loved them. And we also started with the fried cheese which is served in a bed of olive oil and spices with some cucumbers, tomatoes, and olives. Very tasty, especially with the vegetable garnishes. I need to get another assignment in Baton Rouge so I can come back here again!
