Romano's Macaroni & Grill is located inside Mayagüez Mall off of the main highway #2, southbound. There's convenient parking everywhere in the Mall lot. This restaurant is Italian-American & has a very extensive menu of delicious items to choose from, such as steaks, burgers, pastas, soups, salads, desserts, signature cocktails, etc. The staff is very cordial & accommodating & service is as quick as can be depending how busy it is. The lighting inside is not too dark & enhances the rich wood of the many booths & tables against the neutral colored backdrop of the walls. We had an extremely unpleasant experience. When we were seated the table was covered with a large sheet of paper and it had three crayons like we needed to draw or doodle. I asked if the paper could be removed and the server told us to move to another table, I insisted that wasn't necessary. All we wanted to enjoy our anniversary dinner not drawing pictures. My wife and I are elderly people it is difficult to move around. The waitress insisted that we'll move to another location. She thought that it was kind of chicque to scrabble her name on the paper finally she took away this abrasive sheet of paper and went to the kitchen to laugh about us I'm soaw it with my very own eyes and heard with ears . When they noticed that they humiliated us they scurried about. At this juncture the atmosphere was very tense. We will never go back the . It's sad because they turned a beautifully appointed restaurant into a c Chuck E. Cheese type restaurant . I don't know who said it was to cover all the table sheet of paper and crayons it was utterly ridiculous and of poor taste. read more

The food is fried, and cheesy. The chicken Parmesan came out so fried- it's was practically hard as leather. The upside is the restaurant is very nice and clean, and they have a nice selection of wine. The dessert menu is the same as any other restaurant on the island: flan, cheesecake or a brownie. read more

This brand is part of a chain. So there's an expectation. However, I'm traveling out of the continental United States so you can't always measure by the same standards. My brother and I are in Puerto Rico and he has dietary restrictions so we Yelp searched for a place that would have what he needed. It was close to the mall so we shot right over. We beat the dinner rush and, much to our surprise and delight, the staff all spoke at least some English. How amazing that while we didn't speak the native language of the place we were visiting, the staff was savvy enough to be able to service their "English only" guests. The place was spotless, the staff eager, kind, friendly, and surprisingly conversational. As soon as our server discovered we were "English only" she swapped out the menu. She was accommodating to my brothers dietary restrictions and our food arrived promptly. It was beautifully presented and delicious. I really do enjoy adventurous and local cuisine when I'm traveling but this place a delight and I'm happy to recommend it. Not especially adventurous but a delicious and decently priced meal in a friendly, clean and professionally staffed establishment. read more

I've travelled all over the world to rich countries and third world countries and Puerto Rico wins for the worst dining. It was literally a sigh of relief to eat at macaroni grill. a place I would normally shun in California and given I am most recently living in manhattan, this place would never cross my mind. But I was thrilled to find this restaurant and a wonderful server named Roy. We ate the Parmesan chicken and roasted chicken salads as well as a few appetizers. If I could eat here everyday in Puerto Rico I would. I enjoyed this lunch more than my $100 dinner at La Cava in Ponce. read more

Looove the food here. My boyfriend and I were driving from Rincon beach. We spent the whole day there. We wanted to treat ourselves. We ordered a sample. Everything was delicious. The fried mac and cheese, the meatballs, and the calamari. The Broccoli soup is the best soup ever. I had the fettuccini alfredo. So delicious and creamy will definitely be back. Great lunch specials and service. What I love they don't rush you through a meal. The rosemary bread is delicious and really doesn't need a brush of olive oil or butter - makes it way too greasy. I'm a huge fan of their chicken under a brick [I think that's what it's called]. read more

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Macaroni Grill! They have a lunch special called Casuale Dinner in where for $8.99 you can choose 1 appetizer and 1 entree and for $9.99 you can choose 2 appetizers and 1 entree from a a varied list of plates. I love that they have classical music playing and that they sing happy birthday in italian. The service is great, the food is delicious, a little bit expensive though, but the quality is excellent. read more

Macaroni and grill Eating at a restaurant is about the experience and the food. This was my first experience in a Macaroni Grill outside the continental USA and it wasn't the same. First the menu was limited; the drinks (limited variety of beers and no moscato wine in a hot weather!) . Second the food menu was also limited, just the traditional options in a classic Italian restaurant and a couple of specials. Only one variety of steak, the famous Churrasco (skirt steak). In this type of restaurant, I expect more variety. The service was okay, not the one expected. The staff was complaining about each other in the bar and the kitchen staff was walking around in the dinning area without a reason. Also, the staff and the manager (in uniform) were sitting in a table in the dining area counting money and socializing with each other. In the whole time we didn't see a manager caring about the service...they have a long road to learn about customer service in the food industry. Very disappointing, I don't recommend this place since the experience don't equal or overcompensate the cost. I've found the food salty and the cuts of meat less than desirable for the price. The service was good. The manager very concerned. As mentioned before it seems the focus of this particular Romano's is the ambience and drinks rather than cooking expertise. Came in. Hostess on phone on a personal call. Waited one minute until she called a server. (personal call must have been important) Server she called ignored my family and I and tended to family behind us until the wife of the family behind us said we were here first. I thanked the wife of the other family. Server then acknowledged and took us to a table. She stated soup specials as she handed us our menus and left. My family and I waited as we watched the family that was at first behind us get served their drinks and bread. We continued to wait for even our drink order to be taken by a server but instead saw a couple that just arrived get their drink orders taken and bread brought. The other families server than took food order. We still had no attention. Servers passed us and no one did nothing. 13 minutes passed. I finally asked a female server that passed by for the manager. She answered by stating 'si.' A male manager came within a minute. I explained the concern wait to him. I also added that it was clear that my family and I had waited too long while others that arrived after my family already had their drinks, bread and orders taken. The manager appeared upset. I explained that it was very upsetting and that we were leaving. The manager asked that we not leave and he would get the child's order ready promptly. I refused and explained to him that due to whatever problems with logistics or whatever, no paying customer should be ignored like that. What is the point? Come on....there needs to be more proper attention given when there is a customer. I have to ask myself.....were we ignored because there was a child in our group? I mean the heading for this restuarant has that it is not an ideal place for kids. Well all be darn....that's a first!.....No Macarroni Grill I have ever gone too has had a problem with kids! No Sir.
