He wanted a purple and brown one and had a meltdown that I couldn't get them for him. The lady at the counter went in the back and got him 1 of each for free and saved the day. Then I went to grab a fountain soda and water. They gave them to me no charge. My son dropped the water immediately and it spilled everywhere. They instantly started preparing another and called for a mop. They were very kind and generous and it really made my night easier. Great people!

i used to frequent Sparks about a decade ago -- then i fazed out of pinball a bit and moved out of…read morethe area (i mean.. only 20ish miles, but still. i'm a pud.) i recently went back with my renewed love of pinball and had a good time ... for the most part. some of the machines were quick to gulp up quarters (note: put one in at a time and make sure it registers), a few were beat up to the point of being pretty unplayable, a good number have ZERO ball save which is rough on newcomers... i was kind of bummed in a sense. especially considering the owner of these machines (who's a great guy, don't get me wrong) claims to enjoy fixing them up more than playing them. well, i play 'em, and so you know... some are a bit wonky! truly, that can be part of the fun and mystique of pinball though -- except the eating quarters thing. fuck that. anyway my favorite part about Sparks now is that Mike has a slew of new Stern pins that are Insider Connected, so you can track your progress -- i'm always a fan of that. plus, the truth is, newer really is better in the world of pinball. i've always loved many machines from the late 80s and throughout the 90s, but most of the new machines being put out now are just incredible and i appreciate Sparks having about 8 machines from 2015ish to today. all in all, i enjoy it here, and it wouldn't feel quite right without dropping $6 for a 32oz draft of labatt poured into a haggard and microplastic ladened mug. which reminds me -- a drink and a half. that's the sweet spot for getting loose and doing well on a machine. happy pinning!

this place is incredible! i used to go to their original location in chesterfield regularly when i…read morelived in the area, but hadn't been in a long while until i went a month or so ago. in truth, this place is much more enjoyable than the one at premier lanes. the ambiance is better, the number of games is greater, and the quality of everything seems a little more maintained. $22 gets you an all-day wristband, and you can come and go as you please. if you're just thirsty or want a small snack, they have a small counter where you can get water for $1, pop or chips for about $2, candy for $3... really almost-too-fair pricing from a business in 2025, and it's refreshing to see. there's no alcohol which could be a bummer for some, but i just think of it as more money saved, personally. i normally like to plant myself firmly in front of newer machines when i see them (currently this location has Elvira, Rush, Foo Fighters, and 007), but there are so many great older machines to get a few plays on as well: Cactus Canyon, Dracula, Medieval Madness, Monster Bash, and Taxi are just a few of my favorites. as i already mentioned, they have other non-pinball games including bubble hockey (damn, i love bubble hockey), shuffle bowling, skee ball, and a slew of arcade cabinets throughout. there's guaranteed to be something that'll grab your attention -- in truth, there'll be many things that will. and, whenever you have an issue with a game, there are always a couple super friendly people on site to help you out. TIP: enter up the stairs near JC Penney on the John R. side of the mall for quick entry to the arcade. tl;dr: go. this is a gem at oakland mall. it does everything the chesterfield sparks location does, but better.

There's also no room for expansion, so if they ever decide to add new machines, they'll have to rotate out some old ones. It's also very awkward to be served food and drinks here... being surrounded by complete strangers when I'm trying to enjoy lunch is a bit weird. The cabs they do have are mostly quality titles (NBA Jam, WWF Wrestlemania, Street Fighter 2, NFL Blitz etc...) and there are a four or five pinball machines. Most of the cabs seemed to be in OK shape, but the Terminator 2, Street Fighter and NBA Jam cabs weren't registering each quarter as a credit, and on top of that, when NBA Jam did finally accept my $2.00 donation, the shoot button on the player one side wasn't functional, so it was a total waste. The waitstaff wasn't helpful; I understand that they probably don't know how to fix the machines, but they also didn't help by offering a refund. Other than that, the beer at Terry's Terrace is way overpriced... and I mean by $2.00 a pour in most cases, and the food is mediocre at best. I was hoping to have an enjoyable early afternoon, reliving the past by playing some good arcade games, but I blew through $5 quicker in mere minutes because the machines I wanted to play registered every third quarter as a credit. We were again, the only ones in there. My 18 month old was playing with the play food "outside of the play kitchen", and I was told that the play food needs to stay in the play kitchen. Ok, no problem. The entire time that we were there, the owner, was pretty much following behind our children, and picking up/organizing toys, AS THEY WERE PLAYING WITH THEM. Let the kids PLAY. No creative play allowed here! Seriously though, why are you even in the room?? It was more than uncomfortable at this point. The excessive rules make it extremely difficult for a child to enjoy themselves here. And that makes for a rough time for mom, which makes for an awful time for all involved. Anyway, this is where it gets good... I had left my sandals on, and didn't even realize until we were almost ready to leave. I have an 18 month and a 4 year old -- I was obviously preoccupied with my kids, the last thing on my mind was taking my sandals off. I understand and respect the policy of no shoes for cleanliness 100%. The owner, was giving a tour to a mom wanting to rent the space for a party. He stopped mid-tour, and very aggressively yelled (yes. he definitely yelled) "ARE THOSE YOUR OUTSIDE SHOES?" ... In shock, I apologized and said I would take them off, although I would be barefoot. He said "NO. YOU NEED SOCKS." I said well, we will be leaving now, no problem. He then proceeded to tell me that I needed to "at the very least, take your sandals off to walk out", which I did. THEN...he went around the entire establishment SLAMMING toys and objects while putting them away. This went on for a good 10 minutes. Talk about not feeling safe while out with your children. At this point, I'm hurrying my kids up, but of course one needs a diaper and the other has to use the potty. Longest 10 minutes ever, I have never wanted to run out of somewhere quicker. I will never recommend this establishment, and will never return to this establishment, because I was not only blatantly disrespected for an honest mistake, but our entire party felt as if we were an inconvenience the entire time we were there. Just like several other reviews on Google and yelp... this man clearly does not respect women or children, which is his entire clientele. Moral of the story - Ran by a complete psychopath. I hope he receives the help that he needs. Avoid at all costs if you want to feel safe with your kids
