***Update: The owner responded on Google Reviews, exactly how I would imagine. Aggressively and also straight up lying. Convinced he is delusional. Even more of a reason to not have children in this establishment. He most definitely yelled and slammed things around, it went on for 10 minutes and I have a 3 minute video of it... I am more than willing to post it also. Not slander if it's the TRUTH. ------------------------- We've come here about 6 times in the last 4 years. It has been about a year since our last visit. It's always empty here and we like that. Our most recent visit, was very uncomfortable. We went with our friends, so we had 2 moms and 4 children, ages range from 9 months to 4.5 years old. We were again, the only ones in there. My 18 month old was playing with the play food "outside of the play kitchen", and I was told that the play food needs to stay in the play kitchen. Ok, no problem. The entire time that we were there, the owner, was pretty much following behind our children, and picking up/organizing toys, AS THEY WERE PLAYING WITH THEM. Let the kids PLAY. No creative play allowed here! Seriously though, why are you even in the room?? It was more than uncomfortable at this point. The excessive rules make it extremely difficult for a child to enjoy themselves here. And that makes for a rough time for mom, which makes for an awful time for all involved. Anyway, this is where it gets good... I had left my sandals on, and didn't even realize until we were almost ready to leave. I have an 18 month and a 4 year old -- I was obviously preoccupied with my kids, the last thing on my mind was taking my sandals off. I understand and respect the policy of no shoes for cleanliness 100%. The owner, was giving a tour to a mom wanting to rent the space for a party. He stopped mid-tour, and very aggressively yelled (yes. he definitely yelled) "ARE THOSE YOUR OUTSIDE SHOES?" ... In shock, I apologized and said I would take them off, although I would be barefoot. He said "NO. YOU NEED SOCKS." I said well, we will be leaving now, no problem. He then proceeded to tell me that I needed to "at the very least, take your sandals off to walk out", which I did. THEN...he went around the entire establishment SLAMMING toys and objects while putting them away. This went on for a good 10 minutes. Talk about not feeling safe while out with your children. At this point, I'm hurrying my kids up, but of course one needs a diaper and the other has to use the potty. Longest 10 minutes ever, I have never wanted to run out of somewhere quicker. I will never recommend this establishment, and will never return to this establishment, because I was not only blatantly disrespected for an honest mistake, but our entire party felt as if we were an inconvenience the entire time we were there. Just like several other reviews on Google and yelp... this man clearly does not respect women or children, which is his entire clientele. Moral of the story - Ran by a complete psychopath. I attended my friend's child's birthday party here. I was the first guest to arrive at the party and I was immediately made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome by the owner because of his very apparent anger issues. He was yelling (and yes, yelling is the correct verb here) at my 7-month pregnant friend hosting the party because she brought balloons as a decoration. Balloons? To a child's birthday party? How dare she! He was so disrespectful and rude! He was walking around huffing and slamming doors. I was shocked this man owns a place that caters to children! Throughout the party he walked around making sure the children and adults were following the rules. It's like having your very own drill sergeant! You could feel the tension when he came near you. The party was from 10:00-12:00 and my friend was told she had to start cleaning up at 11:50 and vacate by 12:10. Sir, yes sir! So very flexible. And at the very end he sternly told my friend he wanted to chat with her before she left. Someone was in trouble again! So her husband had the conversation with him instead. He was friendly as could be with him. Strange. It's almost as if this man doesn't respect women? I see there are several reviews with similar complaints about the owner. I strongly advise you not to visit this establishment. I don't understand why this angry, OCD man is running a children's play place. Is the military not hiring? I'm not one to write reviews, but the behavior I witnessed today cannot go unnoticed. We use to be the biggest fan of Boogie Babies. Main reason is it's affordable, fun for the littles, and it's ALWAYS dead in there. I always felt the comfort of sitting back and letting my little one play. Well today changed everything for us. The owner has always been a little ocd about the toys staying in the proper spots. Sure, I get it. Let's put things back where we found them. Today when we arrived for a play date, right from the start the owner was aggressive. About 15 mins into our 4 kids (all under 4 years old) playing he starting shouting that we need to keep things in the proper spots. Ok, sure maybe he's having a bad day. No it continued to the point where he was walking around huffing and puffing and aggressively putting toys away. After ignoring his strange behavior for a few hours while our kids played. He was giving a women a tour of the place for a potential birthday party. He stops mid conversation and no joke yells at my friend for wearing her sandals inside the play area. Yes, she broke the rules. But the way he addressed the situation was absolutely uncalled for. He was beyond unprofessional and highly inappropriate. Literally yelled at a customer for not following his rules and basically kicked us out. THEN it got worse. He proceeded to throw and slam things around the play area, really showing us his anger. That's not ok! I felt very unsafe being there and will never bring my children to that establishment again. It's so unfortunate we've been going there on a regular basis for two years now and I'm just appalled by his behavior. I think when I say I felt VERY unsafe say's enough about him. The owner is a complete jerk and clearly has some control/anger issues. My friend threw her daughters birthday here and there was a miscommunication about balloons and I watched him verbally assault her. I watched this man scream and swear at a pregnant woman IN A CHILDREN'S PLAY PLACE! He was extremely aggressive, it was scary. I arrived a little early to help load things in and I find her loading things by herself as he sat at his desk and watched. Which I understand isn't his job but I feel is a glimpse into who he is as a person. He kept pestering her about the rules relentlessly. He has A LOT of rules. She said she couldn't talk to him about it at the moment because she was trying to set up and he lost it. He was slamming doors and cupboards..as her guests were arriving. We had a nice quiet play date here after hearing some good things about this place from some other mom friends. My sons are 3 and 1, and my friend who also has a 1 year old son met us there. I like that there are lots of different sections for the kids to explore. There is something for everyone. My older son is too intimidated by large play structures so this was nice for him to move around and check out all the different things - play kitchen, books, chalkboard, smaller slides, musical toys, dancing area, costumes, etc. It was also nice for our 1 year olds to explore the variety of toys they had. I took away 1 star because some of the toys are older and not working and also this place is very difficult to find even with GPS. My little binky-boy and I enjoyed ourselves at Boogie Babies! The owner is MAGNIFICENT and the facility is as well. I really like the different rooms dedicated to the different age groups of little ones, and the "dance dance dance room" HILARIOUS! My only gripe is not being able to bring our own outside food or drinks especially for picky kids or those with food allergies. Since this is the case I advise nutritious​ alternatives like fruit​ or popcorn.. We can not wait to visit this place during the upcoming Christmas break! read more

This is a brilliantly simple concept--the type of business every parent has thought of at one point or another, and wished someone would open. It's like a giant playroom (actually several rooms) where kids can roam free and play at will, with very little parental involvement necessary. You still have to watch your own kids--it's not a daycare--but there's virtually nothing they can hurt themselves on. Several different areas to choose from, like a giant chalkboard, a kitchen toy set, a big slide and jungle gym, even a dance room and a row of Xboxes. The choices are a lot more diverse than other kid places. There's also an actual kitchen and tv area for parents to relax in. A no-frills, straightforward concept. I gather that there are other services available too, like dance classes and parenting classes, with more being added all the time. Plus, I feel like I'm helping out a sincere, family-run local business by being here. I got to talking with the owner, who's a down to earth guy and parent himself, just trying to serve a need he saw in the way that makes the most sense to him. Such a neat place for kids to play at. I rented this place out for my daughter's 2nd birthday back in July 2018 and I'm so glad I did. The price for renting for 2 hours was very reasonable compared to other places it was the cheapest. The owner of this establishment was so nice and was easy to talk to. He had such great communication skills. The place was super clean and had different sections for kids to play at. There was a little boogie dance room, an area for infants, doll house/ tea area, pretend kitchen, a toy car track, and so much more. I love that he allowed us to bring our own food and drinks but also he does provide snacks and drinks for a cost. There is a huge chalk board to write HAPPY BIRTHDAY or whatever you want to write. All the kids had such a great time here and I hope this establishment stays for the long run, so support it. My sister-in-law loved the place so much that she rented it out for her daughter and nephew the following month. There is lots of parking and loved that you can't wear shoes in the play area. Keeps everything clean. There is an area for eating and setting up decoration and even an area for adults to hang out at. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

The owner will sneak up behind you constantly and ask how things are going over and over and over and...you get it... Cons: Hours before the party, the owner called me twice to go over play rules and left rules on my voicemail. Arrived 30 minutes early but had no time for setup because he went over the same play rules that we heard multiple times when doing a walk through, a month prior and via voicemail. The trampoline freaks the owner out and he will harass the heck out of any excited child that forgets the one jumper at a time rule. The owner is a clock and he will remind you to rush through your party so it feels like you're working a job instead of enjoying memories with family and friends. Plan to leave earlier than planned. If your party is 2-4:00, you will be kicked out at 3:35-3:40. The owner has no problem guiding your child out of the play area without your consent when he's ready for you to go. If your guest upsets the owner with shoes in the kitchen to take your things to the car, he will become very aggressive. Like being yelled at and lectured like a child? Party here! The owners mood swings are scary and off-putting. If the owner has a problem with the party guests he will tell the host so they can fix the situation, right? WRONG! He would embarrass you and make your guests feel completely unwelcome. If the owner is rushing you get your crap out of his kitchen, he actually wants you to stop and pay him first, not actually getting your crap out of his kitchen? Very confusing. While putting things in my car, the owner stopped one of my guests to tell them that we still have a tab to pay‍. We knew this so I have no idea why he would makes our guest feel so awkward. We've taken our now 12-month-old a couple times and have really enjoyed the place! I love that this safe and friendly indoor play area is suitable for many ages! I'm sure we'll love this even more when our tribe grows. On warm, sunny days it's pretty empty as most kids will be outside but we seemed to enjoy it since our girl was able to play with whatever she wanted to. This is a great place when you need to get out of the house, especially on the rainy days! They also have an adult lounge area and serve drinks and snacks. I really appreciate that! The cost isn't pricey and they also have discounts if you get on one of their plans. It's a great indoor play place, highly recommend! read more

I like that this is a very affordable fun place to take my 1 1/2 year old. It has dancing, music, a jungle gym, snacks and it is pretty clean. The reason I stopped going here is because they book private parties and close the entire thing down. I live 45 minutes away and I didn't think to call first, so when I arrived they were closed and open only for the private party attendees. Also the first time I went here they closed up two hours early so that the owners could take their kids to a monster truck rally. Good for their kids but I paid for a full day. The owner started shutting everything down and saying that it was time to go. the owner of this place is very rude and arrogant...he should not be working with children...while he cleans up ...he complains about the kids making a mess???? We have been there two times and both times he asks us if we have a reservation and continues to lecture us about making a reservation in the future...we have been the only ones in the place both times....we asked him for a receipt and he refused to give us a legible one and was put out because we asked....I have never seen anyone cleaning the place and will never return...this man should not be working with the public.... read more

Today was my second visit to Boogie Babies, and both times was bad. It's the Owner. The first time I went I thought he was rude and I assumed he was having a bad day and gave him a second chance. It's a shame because the facility is actually nice, a great play place for the kids, many different areas and types of play. But the owner ruins it for me and I WON'T be back. Ever. I noticed both times that he's very hyperactive, uptight, super Type A, and is intrusive; he hovers around too frequently for comfort...keeps observing the kids, moms and toy areas. Moms stop talking when he's around, it's uncomfortable. He keeps putting away toys and cleaning up when kids are actively using them. My first visit I asked him to leave out the train stuff because my kids were building something he said he had new people coming in and didn't want it to look messy. I'm sure the incoming guests were aware they were entering a child's play place and not to expect it to be immaculate. He puts his hands on kids shoulders too, as he's walking around...it's creepy, and my kids don't like strangers, let alone one that touches them! He's extremely strict about his rules. You can't bring in your own food or drinks, baby formula is the only exception. So forget about bringing in your coffees ladies, or snacks for your kids. He only allows you to eat and drink what he sells He doesn't like when children move a toy from one area to another, forget free/creative play here. Based on my experiences, clearly he does not like children or women, which is a probably about 98% percent of his clientele base. I don't know why he does this for a living. This is not the business for him. It would be great if he sold his business to someone who actually cares about kids and can be more flexible about things that don't really matter much. Today he made a woman move her stroller out of the eating area, because...get this...It's not allowed in there. She got up, emptied out her diaper bag and purse and walked it right to the coat room where "it belongs". Which is about 10 feet away. As she did so he started to yell at her about why she gave him a problem with it. I watched her the entire time and can promise all she did was push it in the coat room. She tried walking back to her child without responding and he kept it up. He said if she didn't like the rules she could leave. She just kept her cool and kept walking. He's lucky he didn't treat me that way because I would not have just walked away like that, he'd have heard some words from me! Well a few of us Moms were taking with her after, she vented a bit (rightfully so) but never said a word to the guy...it was unbelievable how rude he was. She said she won't be back either. Oh, and after this altercation (of his design) he hovered around way more than he was before. It was all very childish behavior and very unprofessional and uncomfortable for us all. We all discussed his behaviors and it's a shame we won't return, because the kids have fun, but trust me, save your money (7.50 per kid!!). Just have play dates at your house, meet at the park or library, or spend the $8 and go to Rochester Play instead. Don't give this rude creep any of your money. read more

We went around 11am Saturday and there were only 3 other families there. This place is such a cool spot for toddlers! There is no outside food allowed other than formula and you have to wear socks. There is a dance area, big and small slides, toys, a kitchen, a huge chalkboard, a dollhouse and tea party kind of area, and an area to sit an eat. I believe there is only one bathroom. My 2 year old had a great time. I would encourage parents to actively play with their kids or help them play with other kids! They want us to have fun WITH them, not while taking a million Facebook photos of them lol. read more

This was a fun place! My girls are 4 and 6 and they loved it! There are so many different "areas" to play including a kitchen, dollhouse, craft/coloring, blocks, a dance area, a baby zone, a play structure with a slide, a toddler area, a trampoline, and book area. The location is also frustrating to find. There is no business sign showing where they actually are. We went at 12:45 and were literally the only people there (this could have been why it was so boring). As we were leaving two other little boys came in. I'd like to give 4.5 stars, taking off only .5 stars off for outdoor signage. Our guests had a tough time locating it. There is a small sign on the door, but it's tough to see with the way the building is set up. If the plaza allows, some type of sign or rubber balloons in the grass or a larger sign on the window/door would be helpful. We recently visited Boogie Babies for a private birthday party and then decided to book our child's party as well! We enjoyed the Private Party option for our birthday. Kids ages 1-14 enjoyed the entire 2 hour time allowance, there was something for each age group to enjoy. We have not been there for regular drop in play yet, but plan to! I love the "No shoes, EVERYONE must wear socks" policy! I absolutely appreciate the fact that nobody else is walking around with muddy/wet/snowy/dirty shoes while my shoe-less kid is running around the common & play areas. The owner did an excellent job of making sure the trash cans weren't ever too full during our party and that everyone stayed off of the carpet/play areas with food & drinks. I appreciate this because as the party host, it's tough to set up, entertain, enjoy the party and watch every kid (and adult) to ensure they aren't running out of the "kitchen/eating" area with snacks. read more

They ask you to take off your shoes before entering which is nice.. but I think for the restroom areas they should provide some slippers.. we celebrated a birthday here and there was no sink in the kitchen! There was no microwave either.. the seating area is a little on the small side for a party. We didn't want to do anything on the carpet area food wise.. so it was kind of tight. The actual play area is really nice. There are lots of toys for all ages. I just feel they can still add things! Play movies or have a better selection of music in the dance room! Like a few of the other reviewers said, this place is ok, but the biggest issue is the owner! He's doesn't want the kids to make a mess. He's constantly hovering and picking up. He has a craft area set up but had a fit if the kids had crayons every where or used more than one piece of paper. The place is poorly ran, and he's the only person working. While we were getting one child's shoes on, our 2 year old ran back into the play area and he yelled and huffed and puffed because she had her shoes on. I would suggest he finds another business to open if he expects a CHILDRENS play area to be kept tidy at all times. The place is big with a kitchen, snack shop, a big video area with a projector and a corner for dress-up, etc. The play structure is medium sized , compared to what I've seen. The slide is quite steep and scary, even for adults. Even my brave child freaked out and my cautious child just refused to go down the thing altogether. The computer area is ok., but I'm not one to get my kids outta my house so they can sit and play video games there. The man watching the place was very nice and accomodating though. I can see having a party there but I think the party space would probably not hold much more than 10 kids + parent/s. Overall. I think the place was all right, nothing great. I'm just glad I've only paid $18 for the 6 pop-ins , and would never pay $8 for each kid to play there. read more

Living Social offered 6 visits to Boogie Babies in Rochester Hills for only $18, so I just had to try it out. Wow, what a pleasant surprise. First, I should say that the website does not showcase everything Boogie Babies has to offer. Finding Boogie Babies was pretty easy. It is right off of Crooks road, north of M-59. They are tucked away in a building with many other businesses and when I saw all of their space, I was quite impressed. Every room is brightly decorated, creating a welcoming and fun environment. The main area for the kids play is quite large. There is a gigantic chalkboard and craft area. Across the way from the arts and crafts area is the play kitchen which was stocked with all the goodies a kitchen would need. Going under the arch will lead you to the baby area. The large soft blocks provide ample opportunity for little ones to work on their gross motor skills. Next to the baby area is the theater. There is always some kind of dancing video playing that encourages children to get moving in front of the big screen. Costumes, wigs and props add to the excitement and pretend play. Four computer stations are available with age appropriate learning games for young children. For older siblings, they have a Wii and PS3. Rosa was a little too young to enjoy this section. Lastly, there is a play structure that reaches the ceiling, with a large spiral slide for the older children. At the top there is a tree house with monkey rings. There is also a section for the infants and toddlers with stairs and a small slide. In the toddler section there are a few puzzles that Rosa really enjoyed. I really can't say enough good things about this place. The owner was super friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean and Rosa had so much fun. We can't wait to go back!!! My only complaint is that the sightline from the snack area is not that great. This business really dropped the ball. Never have I ever seen a person talk to another human being in such an awful/demeaning way. I understand the requirement to follow rules should be in place. We were quick to tell our children to "slow down, one kid at a time on the trampoline, no suckers in the theater, no pushing etc"....but, we all need to remember that these are still children. If you're going to run a family-friendly facility, please remember to be "friendly". Huffing and puffing while walking around picking up after each kid as if we walked into your house uninvited, throwing someone's hair bow onto the table to take, talking to another person like they are scum, walking by a customer 2-3x to initiate an argument is unacceptable. Not once did you talk to the host about all the complaints/issues that day. Some times kindness goes farther than you think. The worker that day was verbally aggressive. This business is great for young kids & babies, but if they are like any other child that likes to play...and some times you can't watch them every second...be prepared to see the unprofessional side of this business. Also, please spare me the response of "we asked you to follow the rules when you came in...the children were crazy...etc" because if you want future business from anyone...a professional attitude goes along way. read more

This place is a neat concept - kind of like going to a daycare with your kid, so he or she can play with the toys there while you watch. It's an alternative if you don't have a lower level rec. room in your home or a spot for your kid to meet other kids and play. The indoor jungle gym is geared more toward kids older than 2. The little tot slide seemed too boring for a 28 month old. There are a number of different toys in decent shape. Several computers exist and a huge screen projector in a separate room. Lots of books can be perused. They have tables and chairs for taking food breaks. It's nice they let you come back later for free on the same day.
