Hyde has been meticulously taking care of my hands and nails for at least 5 years now and I would not dare go anywhere else. He takes each customer and treats each and every one of them the same as he would treat royalty. He's consistent and thorough - complete with a warm and welcoming demeanor. This is a family business, and they all have a beautiful energy that stays with you long after you've gone home. I was pleasantly surprised that their new remodel was complete. The new massage chairs ACTUALLY massage you...not just roll you around in the haphazardly way most salons have. This time we tried the pearl tip instead of my traditional french manicure. I use to go here almost 10 years ago when they were located by Cheesecake Factory. I was pleasantly surprised to see the same owners! I was a walk in for basic manicure no polish only buff and their most expensive gel pedicure ($60). After a very long soak and first of three massages, he then started on the toe nails which he took a very long time. He meticulously was trimming, filing and evening out the nails. I must say it's been over a year since stepping into a salon, covid kept me at bay. He used some good old elbow grease for my hooves (heels), YES they were that bad. 2.5 hours later, I walked out under $100 for all services including tip and my feet have NEVER been so soft! I am not exaggerating either. I had been going to a very posh salon on oak lawn by my house but .... Romie's did not disappoint and I loved the fact that they remembered me and my bestie when from way back! It's not fancy by any means but it's not overly crowded and you're not rushed either! I say give them a shot and see if you enjoy one of their services! I was pretty basic with my services so I can only speak on what I personally got today. Like many women, I enjoy a good manicure and mani/pedi. I recently went to .Romie's for my first manicure. The experience was good. The decor is lovely, complimentary Cokes and water are offered, the chairs are comfortable, and the manicure itself included all of the qualities you expect from a good manicure. Cuticles were trimmed, nails were shaped, lotion was massages into the hands and arms. There were several choices of quality nail polish colors. The price was decent. I left my first manicure pleased with the service, the way my nails looked, and the whole experience. Well, then something strange happened... My nails didn't split, crack, or break like they usually do. They actually felt stronger, and they actually grew longer. The polish didn't chip either. It truly was nothing short of miraculous to see my nails get so strong. I kept tapping them on everything because they were so strong. This was not an acrylic or even a gel or dip manicure, just the basic manicure plus a paraffin dip. After ten days or so, the polish chipped and I removed it. Then the splitting and cracking started. I went back for a manicure and so far so good with the nails feeling stronger again. I will update. If you have nails that peel, chip, or break, I HIGHLY recommend Romie's. Encountered some racial profiling, lack of care and heavy discrimination. Staff started the Mani Pedi and left as soon as a white couple walked in to go and tend to the woman who'd walked in. They've not been willing to fix their treatment or the poor quality of gel polish they've applied multiple times and though we've tried giving them multiple chances to redeem themselves the racist response was the last straw. Requiring quality service and basic human decency is the minimum a service provider can give especially when one is paying they're hard earned money. read more

I am leaving 2 stars for the 3 awesome techs who did our pedicures. My daughter, my boyfriend and I came in and had wonderful pedicures that went well. Please think twice about having manicures here by techs that aren't specifically recommended. I see there is some success here with some techs so I urge you to only use a recommended one. I am so upset with one woman and her choices while doing my manicure though that I am seriously considering legal action. I live fed the procedure on facebook live because I felt like she was lying to me about the products she was using on me. She said it was nexgen, it didn't look like nexgen. Friend of mine said to call her out and so I did. She admitted to it after we went to the front and I confirmed that she was charging me for nexgen. She said she would fix them but after the experience I was just too upset to go back. When I went to another salon to get them taken off, there was severe damage to my nails. The nail tech told me I had acquired a fungus. It took her almost an hour to remove the nails that this salon had placed. It's been the most traumatic experience I've had in the 15 years I've been getting my nails done. I specifically told this woman not to use acrylic on me and she deliberately did it anyway. I am now paying for medicine to treat my nails and I cannot even have them polished for at least a month. One of my nails was eaten away so badly that half of it FELL OFF! My job requires me to have my nails done nicely and this has even affected my status at my job which in turn is affecting my wages. I'm so, so upset. I urge consumers to be cautious here. Do not go here!! Their customer service is very poor. They are also liars who will nickel and dime you. They quoted me one price and then charged $10 more at the end of the service because of cuticle cutting which they did not inform me it would be more. I understand Vietnamese and the whole time, I hear them talking about how they should charge me more even though they quoted me already. At Checkout- The owner, the husband, and 2 other nail techs were argueing in Vietnamese saying how they should have told me before they performed service of the higher price. The owner who quoted me proceeded to tell me that she told me the additional cost for cuticle cutting even though she didn't. They did a poor job as well. I decided to get Gel this time which has lasted me 3 weeks in the past without having to be careful. These did not last even 24 hrs before peeling. It looks horrible. I really like this place..it probably helps that it's right next to work. If you're going to get a pedicure, definitely get the "baby butt." As yelped before, it's only $37 for a pedicure that will cost you $48 at Nail Bar...and Romie's will provide you with as much wine as you'd like. Here is the lowdown from a regular: You can either call in that day for an appointment or just walk in. I typically ask for Ada or Laura. Ada is better on the massage relaxation part (she used to rub EACH leg for like 20 minutes each) and Laura is really good at the making the feet pretty part. Then I sit with my book in my massage chair with my book and my wine and just let them pamper. *Side note* ~I know it's sexist, but I just don't like a guy giving me a pedicure, so when I first started going I just said so---so if that's you, don't worry about saying it - it won't be the first time they've heard it. read more

I've been coming to Romie's now for 2.5 years. I've tried a few places every now and then and have yet to find a place like it...the service and the quality just do not compare! I love Hai & Mai! The whole staff is wonderful!!! If my polish chips...no worries, I go back and they fix it...even if it's my fault. They know my name, they remember my friends that I bring with me, free wine, lots of colors to choose from... I have no problem waiting if they are busy because I know the quality of service I am about to receive is worth the wait. I am in Property Mgmt. and I have used Romie's as an example during some of our training classes in reference to customer service...the staff is genuinely some of the nicest people I've met. They have exceeded my expectations. I am writing this review tonight because As I was leaving dinner tonight with some friends, I noticed Hai & Mai standing outside of Romie's while someone else was packing a moving truck. They informed me the landlord kicked them out of their spot because someone rented the spot next to Romie's and wanted their spot as well. (btw, I am almost in tears as they are telling me this) they are some of the hardest working people I've ever met! I've been in Romie's on a Friday night and the door is just s revolving door...they close at 8pm, but they did not turn down one customer that walked through their door after 8pm...as a matter of fact it was 9:30 when I left and they still had people walking in that they didn't turn away. I had a nail appt with my regular tech (Tina) at a different nail salon at 5pm yesterday and when I got there found out that the person taking my appt didn't write it down so could I wait until 7pm? Yeah, right. I was in Addison, so fuming, I got in the car and decided to Yelp someplace on the way home. Of course my Yeeps didn't let me down. Was pointed here and went for the Baby Bottom ($37) pedi. Was led to the back room and climbed into a massage chair. Since the whole purpose of my original appt was to fix 2 broken nails and fills, I decided to try one of their techs. Now I just don't let anyone do my nails - I've only had 2 different techs in 8 yrs, but I was feelin' good for being bad so I went for it. A couple of glasses of wine later, I was in heaven. Kayla massaged each leg for at least 15 min each and the pedi took the entire hour - it was wonderful. The woman that did my nails did them in around 40 min ($30) - they usually take an hour to do and they looked and felt great. I'm still feelin' guilty about cheating on Tina but it was worth it. The baby butt pedicure here just cannot be beat. I think I have tried just about every nail salon in Lakewood and Lake Highlands and this is just the absolute best. I got to the salon about ten minutes after they opened and was impressed by the number of staff already there and the colors available. Upon taking a seat for a pedicure, I noticed that two staff members were washing the towels in the last chair's foot bath. EW! If this is what all salons do or not, keep it away from the client. The gal doing my pedicure was very pushy for me to do a manicure combo. When I agreed to do it, she said I wouldn't get two people to complete my services unless I spent an additional ten dollars, so I would be there a lot longer. She rushed the service my feet were still rough after paying $50 and my gel polished didn't last and she did a very bad job at polishing them. My toes definitely needed some lovin' and I was looking for nail place to me and actually ended up going here cuz barnes and noble (nextdoor) was so packed i had no place to sit and do work. So i walked next door to get a pedicure - hoping to have a open table when i was done. I opted for the basic pedicure but the girl did a great job and spent a long time massaging my feet and legs even for the basic package. The basic package ran for $25 and they even had a deluxe package ranging up to $37. The basic pedicure was quite enough, i don't need i needed the extra fixings but i did see a lady next to me with that package and she got a lot of different treatments on her feet - so it looked like worth her while. I usually get a french tip but i opted to save the $6 and just went with a dark rouge red and its been 2 weeks and no chipping yet! awesome! which means they used good quality nail polish (OPI) + good sealer on top. So nail places are usually run by asians and we all know asians love cash only, so when i pulled out my credit card, the girl said - "if you have cash, it's better". lol. no problem. luckily, i had some cash on me. read more

They seemed busy though because four ladies had an appointment and they helped 3 right away and made the 4th wait 30 min (not sure group appointments are effective here). They did a good job on the gel manicure $33. I will see how long it lasts! The reason they get 3 (I debated between a 4) is they were rude to some customers. An elderly lady (who seemed irritating) checked in a cpl of times and they kept saying another hour. Also, how they treated that group of customers. Lastly, it kind of grossed me out but as they were cutting one ladies nails it was flying up and landing in another customers hair who had their back to the nails. I have been coming to this nail salon since I was 15 and I am now 16. I have always gotten dip but this time my dip did not last 4 days before it cracked. I went in and they fixed it for free but not even a week after I got them fixed, ALL but one cracked. So in total it has not even been two weeks. I decided to call and see what they could do about it and she (the manager) said "it's been two weeks so you have to come and redo them." My response was "I've been coming here for years and my nails have lasted at least a month." Her response "well what do you want me to do?" Went last week on a Wednesday to get my nails done for a wedding I was in that weekend. They were short staffed so i was there for 2 hours. No worries, I understand. So I finally got the Shellac. By Friday morning, two nails had peeled off. I was out of the country, so there was not any resources for me to be able to fix my nails. Not ever going back to this place again. I LOVE Romie's!! I was turned onto this place over 4 years ago and that's my #1 (pretty much only) choice for pedicures. I don't do manicures very often if ever, so I can't review that portion. As everyone has said before, the "Smooth as a Baby's Butt" pedicure is delectable -- best way to pamper yourself! Here lately, I've just done the regular, basic pedicure with color polish, but the French pedi is always a tried and true favorite of mine. Not sure about previous complaints on the quality of the job, because I've never had a bad pedicure from the people here. Sometimes chipping is the the quality of the polish selected, too. Don't bother making an appt, though; you may still have to wait if they get bombarded by walk-ins. Also the prices are a little higher than average, but I also am a believer that you get what you pay for. I went to them every month during college for a pedi, so it was my splurge at about $32-$37 each, but so worth it. The complementary drinks (water, soda, wine) also are a nice touch. As a side note -- cash and check are preferred not necessarily because of the ethnicity of the people working there, but in the salon/cosmetology business, if the nail techs pay a lease/rent to work at this location, then they may get charged the fees from the credit card processing companies (3%+). My husband was a hair stylist at a salon and he preferred cash and check so that he didn't get hit with credit card fees and he could keep the full amount paid by customers to pay his lease or whatever. I have been here several times because they are close to my job and they have my favorite gel color. However, I will not be returning as the lady always does a poor job. I had one nail longer than the other, polish on the side of my nail and she didn't bother to clean it off. Aside from the crappy work they charge more than most other nail salons.
