Upon arrival at our family condo on Tuesday the 4th we discovered our thermostat was broken. The on duty shift that evening was super helpful even right before closing to help me select the right Honeywell unit. Although I hear it's not PC to say these days but at the risk of offending Aerosmith, Jeremy is an absolute ROCK STAR!!! My wife and I stopped by to pick up some parts to replace a tub spout and shower hot/cot handles. We did not need help; we consulted doctors Google and YouTube beforehand...boy were we WRONG...lol. When we returned to the store, a bit dazed and confused, Jeremy remembered seeing us before and offered to help. He took us around to various parts of the store to get all the pieces we would be using....not buying but USING to do our repairs. He grabbed a piece of copper tube to SHOW us what to do. In the end, what took us 3+ hours to screw up on our own, he shrunk down to 15 minutes the second time around. If you go to Rommel's Ace in Ocean City, MD, bring a Mountain Do, ask for Jeremy, hand him the Do then sit back and learn!!! Management needs to mimic everything Jeremy does; he KNOWS customer service. Thanks Jeremy, it was a pure pleasure. This place has everythingggggggg, and is very organized. Came in handy on our weekend there when we needed to fix a couple things on one of the cars. There's a lot of stuff to look at so if you need to kill some time or need something from tools to beach stuff, this is your place to go. They also have the largest selection of YETI tumblers I have ever seen hahaha! I wish I could write some more but to be honest, it's very plain and simple! I really like the store and I think they have a great selection but they also have good prices. As much as I wanted to go somewhere local for my landscaping needs this place was much more inexpensive and had more to choose from. I kept coming back to get more rocks for my front landscaping. Within my four trips, I got different cashiers and only one knew how to ring me up. I know it's hard getting seasonal workers and trainings them, but while I have patience, the people behind me in the line did not. One time I paid for the rock and then the girl ran outside to tell me she wasn't sure if they had any more left. It's ok I didn't mind, they are working out the kinks. Either way inventory here is great but if you're getting something special just know you might have to wait a little for check out. read more

Terrible Experience Today! Went in to return door knobs that the sales person said the keys matched. They did not. So I had to travel back, waited in line only to find out that I had to go to the back of the store. Approached the cashier with the return and told him that I was returning them because the keys did not match and that the sales person read the wrong area of the box. I mentioned that he may want to instruct the sales person which number to read. Looking down, he said (with an attitude) "people make mistakes." I said that I was simply suggesting that he mention it to the sales person to avoid the same problem with future sales. He said, (again with an attitude) "I don't know who HE is." I told him that I could tell him who he is. He proceeded to tell me that I had an attitude and that I am telling him what he needed to do. I then asked for the manager. He said that he was the general manager. I am a resident of Ocean City. This store will never get my business again. read more

I had a waterfall in my kitchen and needed plumbing supplies immediately.....I had an idea of what I needed and ran to Ace and they were SO helpful! Jeremy knew exactly what I needed and helped me get everything to fix the problem. They are so kind and helpful; I may never go anywhere else. Love this place!! read more

Down in OC for cruise week and ran into some major auto trouble. I needed hardware and some minor tools. Anyhow I bought a hacksaw and Jeremy (not sure if he was a manager or what) went out of his way to help. He let me use the bench vise in the back and when the second saw blade went bad due to being junky, he grabbed a better one and didn't ask me to pay for the junk one. Seriously, I would've been in trouble if it wasn't for this store and Jeremy 's help. Thank you all very much. Ps. That guy needs a raise. read more

The Ace in Cambridge can't get it right, I don't know where they get their management they are terrible. And when they get some great sales associates that actually know how to help a customer they can't keep them. Ace is definitely not the place when they refuse to take care of the ones that are doing the sales, taking care of the customer. I'll never go back. read more

A great all around Hardware store. They have everything you need to keep your beach condo running smoothly. You can get Benjamin Moore paint, storm doors (installed), toilet parts, tools, and coolers. Last weekend I had a difficult toilet repair to do at one of my condos, and Ace had all the necessary parts to do the job. I was so pleased I went back on Sunday and bought two shower massages for my other condo. read more

***IF YOU NEED TO MAKE A RETURN, you can only do so at this location!!!!*** Tried to return an item at home 250 miles away and they refused saying all ACE's are independently owned. So make darn sure of the item before you purchase it and head home. I'm spoiled as my 3 local ACEs do accept returns from each other (learned they are owned by same owner). Wasn't planning to drive the 250 miles to OC for another 3 months but looks like now I have to. I have been going to this store for years and have always been very Happy, today was not the same. Before leaving the store I realized the register overpriced the product and was told i had to go to the back to get refund, then i was told to go back up front to get my cash. When I got to Beth at the front register I told her it was a bad process and she pointed to the pink sign over the register and proceeded to tell me that I didn't have to come back if I didn't like it. I told her she must be Employee of the year with an attitude like that and then she pulls out some Greeting card from a Customer to convince me how great she is. After telling her 4 times that I didn't care and didn't want to see her card she drops it on top of my purchases, when I flicked it off and it went on the floor she accused me of throwing it at her and refused to wait on me saying that I was mean. I have been in retail longer than she has been alive and if THAT is customer service they must be rewriting the book. read more
