I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Romo Rental for a recent wedding was extremely unprofessional and stressful from start to finish.
The bride specifically wanted to rent a magazine box she found online, so I contacted Romo Rental. They provided pricing, which the couple approved, and offered customization for the plexiglass. We provided the artwork, but as with any print-related item, a proof is essential to confirm quality. When I requested one, I was told "we don't do proofs," which was immediately concerning.
For this wedding, we coordinated about 20 outside vendors under a strict, pre-planned schedule--crucial at a resort hosting multiple events. In October, a full month prior, we sent Romo Rental the load-in/load-out schedule, delivery window, loading dock details, and drop-off location. Two weeks before the wedding, we sent a reminder. The day before, another reminder. **Not once did they inform us that they needed to change their scheduled arrival time.**
Day of the wedding:
Their scheduled arrival time was 2:00 PM. At 1:55 PM, I texted asking for an ETA. Janet replied they were "loading and would be en route shortly." When I reminded her of the scheduled time, she responded sarcastically with, "excuse me, I'll see you when I get there."
At 2:45 PM--45 minutes late--I received a message asking for the delivery location despite the booking agreement and multiple reminders.
Shortly after, another vendor informed me that a rude, aggressive woman was looking for me. I found Janet, her husband, and their two children standing in the wrong location near the courtyard foyer. Janet immediately became confrontational. When I stated they were late, she snapped that she wasn't late because "the wedding hasn't started." I explained that vendor delivery times have nothing to do with ceremony start times.
At that point, the husband also became unprofessional. He said, "I'll give the money back, I don't have to be here," and began walking off with half the product pieces in his hands--right in the middle of our scheduled setup window.
Guests were already approaching the hall and the bridal party was about to line up, so rather than escalate, I redirected Janet to the correct location so we could keep the wedding on track. They then assembled the item onsite during active vendor setup, forcing others to work around them. And while they also misspelled the wording on the item, at that point it was 30 minutes before guests arrived--there was nothing that could realistically be done.
I commend the husband and the children for their building skill during the assembly, as they did good hands-on work once they settled in, but professionalism and attitude matter just as much as craftsmanship.
Romo Rental appears to operate with a casual, "friends and family" style approach, which may work for informal events, but not for professional, time-sensitive productions. Both owners would benefit greatly from customer service and business training. Paying clients deserve reliability, respect, and professionalism--not hostility or dismissiveness.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Romo Rental. read more
