A quintessential park nestled in the heart of Newcastle. A paved path goes through the park…read more You'll find tennis courts, volleyball courts, a playground and plenty of space to hang out. At the lake you can sit and enjoy the view, go fishing or even kayaking. Lots of nature to hear and greenery to enjoy. You'll find everyone and anyone here. Enjoying a picnic, walking their dog, leisurely strolling, running and exercising or simply just hanging out. You'll even find firefighters here doing practice work. This park is often the place for many city and community events.

Stopped by Lake Boren Park on a sunny Saturday afternoon for the first time, and it turned out to…read morebe a great spot for the kids. The playground was well-suited for a range of ages, with swings, a see-saw, and even a small climbing wall to keep them entertained. There was plenty of open grass for families to lay out picnic blankets, and a covered area that was bustling with what looked like a birthday party or community event. The park also has solid amenities like tennis courts, a volleyball area, and a basketball court for older kids and adults. I especially enjoyed the shaded walking paths, which offered a nice break from the sun. The one downside was the bathroom. It was in poor condition and definitely could use some upkeep. Parking was available but packed due to the nice weather, so we had to park a short walk away. JY review.

My daughter has taken some classes here so my review is based on our experiences coming here…read more The facility has staff at the door to get you to the right place or take your payment. There is a day use fee but they offer punch cards for regular use. The gym is huge. Has upper seating area. It is 3 basketball courts they place baby gates between for multiple classes. Jazzercise is going on at one end while my daughter has volleyball at the other end. The coach struggles to talk over the music of that other class. It is carpeted as well. They have lots of kid classes available here. And there are some classroom areas, so things like Tai Chi can happen in a less loud environment, but it's not perfect. There is a walking track around the gym upstairs but it costs to walk ....$3. I like this place b/c they offer classes my kids want to try. Younger kids have plenty of sports leagues to enjoy. They have a gym and you can get a good workout here without joining a gym elsewhere. It's nice when the community center is clean and offers a lot. We enjoy utilizing this place. They do not charge extra for non city residents like most of the cities around here.

Summer Concerts in the park here are a win…read more The music has been good so far, each week a different musical genre/band entertains the crowd which is made up of friends ranging in ages from newborns to 90. There's plenty of open space for the kids to run wild, for the adults to deploy their dancing skills and to relax on a Tuesday night with your chosen group. They don't allow you to bring beer or wine which likely keeps people under control, but, removes a certain sophistication from some meals with friends as we try to one up each others culinary whimsy for picnic dinners. I must say that a glass of wine can really up the taste of my food. Highly recommend going at least once this summer for the people watching, the competitive food selections spread out on our blankets and the joy of being outdoors on these gorgeous summer nights.
