Nice to see that what used to be a Rona has been replaced by another hardware store. Yes Lowe's bought out Rona, but I digress. Plenty of parking in the nice big lot in front of the store. In terms of quality, the stuff sold here is pretty comparable with Home Depot, but with a nice blue theme instead. Personally I find their tool selection to be slightly better than HD, and customer service (specifically the knowledge of the employees) to be slightly worse. Lastly, their hours are very similar to HD as well. Always a good thing for those evening projects. read more

Did not think the service could be any worse...but I was wrong. Received an email that Lowe's had cancelled my on-line order. Called Lowe's and they advised the item is not available at the store. I advised I knew that, which is why I ordered it on-line. Checked the inventory on-line today, and it showed 3 in stock. Called to have someone go to the aisle to ensure there was at least 1 on the shelf. After being routed to 3 different employees, it was confirmed that there were none available at the store. They advised to call back and have Customer Service back order the item. I called back Customer Service and after explaining what I wanted, they again transferred me to a sales associate who confirmed they had none available at that time. Aaaaah. I called back and explained it all again with the item number. This time the sales representative advised he would take my contact information and get back to me when they have the item back in stock. There is a world of difference between this Rona and other Rona and Home Depot stores. I am a contractor and often have to bring products back because they were not the right product, didn't fit or customer didn't like. I have found the staff to be rude, difficult and horrible to deal with. At Home Depot if you have to return something they are pleasant and helpful, at this Rona + if you return an item, they open the package, count every screw, scrutinize every aspect of the item and packaging and give you the third degree as to why you are returning it. I was happy Rona/ Lowe's Grandview Hwy. had my kitchen faucet in stock and that I could find it on the shelf myself, but unimpressed by management's decision to NOT make life easier for customers by having enough workers to meet customer needs. While I may continue shopping at this Rona location because it is close to my home, I'd go elsewhere if other retailers had more workers and the products I need at affordable prices. Rona, Lowe's and all employers should do the right thing and maintain sufficient staffing levels while paying their workers liveable wages to retain experienced people eager to provide customers with wonderfully remarkable service. Unfortunately that's a large step towards competing with Amazon and Home Depot that Rona management isn't prepared to take as their focus is on short term profitability instead of doing what's right for customers, employees and their shareholders. We ordered some items for our backyard this spring. The showroom was great in-store and they made it very easy to order what we wanted online. I was impressed with their selection and colours. The delivery process was very smooth as well. It was fast and the delivery guys were great. One way to improve this would be to perhaps have a service that takes away all the boxes and packing materials, like 24 hours later. The only reason this is not a 5 star review is because some of the staff at the customer service desk seemed very stressed (not enough staff maybe?) and flat-out ignored several customers who had been waiting in line for a while. read more

Hi I go to this Rona + when i dont want to drive to Home depot. Wow is all i can say. dont get me wrong a few emplyees are knowledgable and helpful. but most dont care. I was looking for RV plumbing antifreeze. it that time of year again. I know they have had in the past. So I asked one staff - :No we dont carry that!" Second staff,- " it over there somewhere. Try in hareware!" It not there. So i head to plumbing, maybe it there. 3rd staff - " i think is over here " We walk over to another staff. Before he could ask this person i spot it on the bottom shelf. so I get a gallon. They seemed to be doing inventory , thus there were more staff than customers. But none of them knew much about anything. I also advised one staff that the men's bathroom is falling apart. faucets don't work, faucets are loose, and dirty. He said " Yea i have been told a million times about it. "Plumber is working on upstairs bathroom. I would be embarrassed as a major hardware supplier and they cant fix a faucet. Now they are rebranding Rona plus! Revy was ok, then Rona was a step down over the years. then Lowes poor service and expensive prices. Now Rona Plus no improvement. Vancouver Rona Grandview location closing due to poor sales I visited Grandview Rona the afternoon of Dec. 7, 2023 to buy metric bolts for mounting my TV. As another reviewer mentioned, very few staff are working at this location, and so I felt lucky after finding the fasteners section by myself within 5 minutes of entering the store. Then came a bigger challenge: finding the right size metric bolts within that section. After about 10 minutes of searching, I found some which fit my TV, but they didn't have heads I could tighten with my screwdriver. I wanted to ask someone familiar with that section if there were other metric fasteners I hadn't noticed, but I didn't see anyone in the department, so I asked a (rare) passing worker if they could help me. They tried their best, but we didn't find any metric bold I hadn't already seen. I asked them if this store is always short-staffed, and they said yes, and that, like Lowe's/Rona in Queensborough, Grandview Rona would also be permanently closing due to poor sales. I said that I also shop at Home Depot in Vancouver and Burnaby, and that they appear to be doing well based on their stores being at least partially full of customers. They replied Home Depot is more successful at keeping customers because they employ enough people to help customers, unlike Rona/ Lowe's. They added, "Home Depots pays their staff better, and does not continually reduce employee hours, forcing experienced workers to quit and be replaced by new, often inexperienced ones unable to help customers find what they need." read more

What an awful experience. There are very few companies that I would rate one star, and it is VERY rare for me to want to never give a company business again, but this appears to be one of those companies. This review is partly for the Vancouver store, and partly for the online version. Both get 1 star in my opinion. I ordered a part from Lowes.ca since it was special order online only, and it arrived broken. I called customer service and they gave me two options: One was to drive to a Lowe's store and return the item, and the other was a very lengthy series of online communication and returns including photo proof, forms sent for approval, then a return shipping process. The closest store is quite far away from my house, well over half an hour each way... but I decided to drive across town and do an in-store return. At the Vancouver store customer service, they spent a long time trying to return the money, saying that the system was refusing the payment. They tried to convince me that online customer service must have returned the money to me already. She wanted me to leave, however I refused since I knew without a doubt that this wasn't the case, and so she tried again... and guess what? It worked! While I was waiting for my return, I notice how woefully lax their COVID protocols were. Very little signage, and nothing I could find talked about masks. While I was waiting, I saw a gentleman with an approx 8 year-old child leave while not wearing masks, and another patron enter and browse the store without a mask. I also saw employees high-five eachother, and the worst part? After the high five one person asked why the other's hand was wet... that person guestured to her mouth that she had just eaten or something. Not sure what that meant but it was very odd and not very conscious about the current situation. After all this, I get an email saying that my money will be returned to my credit card in 5 to 7 business days. Totally unreasonable given the fact that I went through so much effort to replace something they didn't ship properly in the first place. read more

I have been to this Lowes a few times over the last year ( during the pandemic). They don't use TAP for credit card payment. I have complained to them in writing and in person at the cashier. Their employee did not keep his distance. I had to move way from him several times. I finally told him to just cut the bundle of lumber open so I could get what I needed They don't seem to care. One of the last time I was there with a friend was February 4th 2021. I needed some supplies but I did not buy anything because they still do not have TAP. I was also in the store with another friend for supplies. They did not have plumbing parts we need. We needed a Tub spout and shower head. They just had some over priced spouts that were in zip lock bags. Staff is very hard to find. I find products more expensive then other big box stores. It seems like they have limited variety of products. I said to my friend every time I come to this store I say I will not come back. This Lowes is closer to my house then other hardware stores. But I will go out of my way to buy any hardware or building supplies. Plus I find the same product cheaper at the other store. read more

My husband, who specializes in renovations, decided to purchase all brand new kitchen appliances for a client at Lowe's. For decades, he has been dealing with Home Depot for such projects, but in this case Lowe's was willing to offer him a discount on the package and he proceeded to accept it. Little did he know that he was going to regret this decision - royally! *Everything* in the process that could go wrong, went wrong. The incompetence and lack of customer service of both the store and head office employees left us dumbfounded! - They said the whole package of appliances would arrive in approx. 2-3 weeks. Husband did not near from them at the 3 week mark and contacted them, only to be told that it will be likely 4 weeks - fine. At 4 wks., he called and was told that the microwave he ordered and was guaranteed is actually not available at all. They expected him to pay $200 extra for a different microwave. Me thinks not! He spent hours on both the phone and inside the store to get a microwave for the same price he originally paid. - Husband emphasized to both the store managers and head office when he spoke to them that he needs a heads up (i.e., call him an hr. early) before items are delivered as he does not live at this address and the customer is out of the country. Therefore, he would need time to get there. He spoke to a representative the day before delivery and was told no problem, a note would be placed on file. - While driving to the customer's place to give himself enough time to clean up and then, as he anticipated, receive a call from the delivery person some time before the goods are delivered, husband received a call from the delivery guy that he was in front of the building. Say what??? He rushed there and while driving contacted the head office. The female he spoke to says she "did not know"! This was literally her response to any question or statement he had! She then added that there was no note placed on file and that it's not her problem. Really??? - Prior to the day of delivery, the store told my husband that the fridge has a small defect at the back. He advised that he wants a defect-free fridge for the customer. They said they have one in the store and would exchange it right away - no problem. Well, guess what? When the items were being delivered, even the delivery guy said that the paperwork still showed there was a defect on the fridge and sure enough, there was! In addition, there was a dent at the back AND a small defect on one of the corners. - When my husband and his coworker went to install the stove, they discovered that an essential piece was missing. Knowing that contacting Lowe's would not get them anywhere and that the situation was time sensitive, they ran to Home Depot to get the piece as HD sells the same stoves. Turned out, once they hooked it up with the piece they purchased at HD, the gas stove top made a continuous clicking sound. Ridiculous. Went to Lowe's personally and demanded a new stove. After arguing with the very incompetent and unprofessional staff and losing another hour of his time, he was promised a new stove which was finally delivered last week. All in all, a horrendous experience and lesson learned! Never again! read more

a. I purchased a fridge that was apparently in stock through the 'local store delivery' option. I had the choice to either pick it up from Grandview, or have truck delivery within 1 - 2 days. I chose truck delivery. b. Three days later I receive a phone call telling me that they were now considering this as an online order (it was not) and I am now told the fridge I bought for local delivery will not be delivered until October - which is what I deliberately avoided when looking at all fridge options, as I need it now. (I may have shopped online, but it was supposed to be local delivery from Grandview Highway and not from their supplier - as their confirmation emails states). Talking to the person in India, only resulted in him going around and around in circles refusing to understand that; only stating it was an online order because I purchased it on the website, providing me only with the option to cancel and not looking into it nor AT ALL apologetic. What a waste of my time and effort. I am absolutely furious. So getting absolutely nowhere, l did tell him to cancel, but I had no written confirmation of that. c. Feeling uneasy it had not been cancelled, after an agonising hour and a half on hold many times because apparently not just anyone can cancel an order, I found it had not been cancelled, and so I was potentially paying for two fridges at this point, as I wanted to buy the same fridge elsewhere that could deliver in two weeks and not months. The supervisor did call me back to confirm that he spoke to Grandview Highway, and finally I got an email to say that it was indeed cancelled. Not once did any of them apologise to me. NOT ONCE. They acted as if I was simply cancelling my order because I had changed my mind and not that they had, literally, failed to deliver what they promised. d. My whole shopping experience with Lowes has been an absolute nightmare to deal with, right down to the migraine inducing screech of hold music, and I will never ever attempt to buy anything major from that store again. The store is fine, I have done collect and pick up before with no issues. However, if you are thinking about shopping on Lowes.ca think again! Do not waste your time and money there. They work with Fedex. I placed an order on June 27th and Lowe's sent me an email on June 28th that the items have been sent to a courier. Today is July 13th and not only I haven't received them I can't even track my shipment since it only says: "Availability date will be displayed soon. Item(s) on the way Tracking details will be available once the package arrives at the FedEx facility. Please check back soon!" This is very very frustrating!!!! Went there for the save the tax event I would say don bother as there's s laundry list of stuff that is in fine print that doesn't apply. I was duped, they should have at least let customers know on purchase, or change the website to not go to merchandise that does not qualify for save the tax. This is highly misleading . I was looking for a "rough in" for my shower and needed it by the next day as my contractors were coming in. Needless to say I have no idea what a "rough in" is but the associate there was so helpful. I wasn't able to pick up what I needed there considering the short notice but the associate was helpful in giving me a list of other stores (non big box stores) that I should try and wrote down the exact part I needed. I went to the Grandview Store to buy a toilet part and while shopping I used my phone to compare prices. I found a similar item much cheaper at Canadian Tire and asked the Store Manager (Wayde ? not sure of the name) to price match. He not only price matched but gave me an extra 10% off. I was blown away. I am not usually loyal to one company but now I am only going to Lowes to buy items I need even if I have to make a special trip. With the pandemic going on & everyone have extra time on their hands, they are quite busy but we have always found the help we needed! It is a large warehouse that is devoid of what one might need when repairing an older house. I then go to Magnet/Home hareware on Commercial and First and they are able to help and have parts. I bought some items and chose to get an email receipt when I checked out at the store. When I brought the items back for return I was told that email receipts can not be used for returns. The sales associate said this time they would do the return but in the future I should be aware that email receipts are only for my records and not valid for returns. I ordered an airconditioner online about a month ago. They charge about $ 90 for truck delivery. It finally got delivered last week. When I opened it it had scuff marks. I should have expected it seeing the shape of the box. It was almost falling apart. I returned it to their store but their policy is not to refund shipping charges. So I paid for their unreliable delivery. I wonder how much they make from just this one item going back and forth. I read several of their stores across Canada were closing. Not surprised. Visited the Lowe's location at 2727 East 12th Avenue, Vancouver BC today to purchase the Scotts Turf builder. Before going to the store I did check their website and it indicated that they had 196 available at this location. On arrival I found that they didn't have any on display so I approached the customer service area and asked the rep to check the availability of this item and the rep told me that they had about 200 available in their inventory so he made a call to check with the appropriate dept and was told that they didn't have any and he indicated their record was inaccurate. That's terrible record keeping!!. Overall I find the store customer services are rather lagging and staff are not knowledgeable or helpful. Wonderful place to go for that zombie apocalypse feeling. I often just start yelling, "I'm stealing something! No really I am!!!!" There are no employees anywhere to hear me so I might as well have a giggle. It is also a good place to go if you only want to purchase 80%of what is on your list. You can go there, search forever, ask at the cash area (because there are no cashiers there. Often it's just self check out.) people to page someone for help... Wait a good 30 minutes minimum only to be told they are out or don't carry that item. Then you have a choice... Drop the 80%of the stuff you found in a random location and go buy it all at an alternative place... You know? The one where you should have gone in the first place. Clue to Lowe's... If I'm doing a project and have a list of items I need for that project... I can't do the project with only part of the supplies. Nails, glue, paint and brush in hand... No wood? Well shit. Corrugated plastic roofing material, 1X1's, 2X4's all in cart... No screws for Corrugated roofing... Both of these scenarios have happened to me. To top it off this place doesn't have tap? I'm out... Think about Lowe's for service and returning defective merchandise? Don't think about it. Don't even go there in the first place. There are few people on the floor and the staff in customer service say they will help - but cannot. They phone the 'real manager' upstairs in an office who won't come down. I had all my receipts and evidence of the defect. Then I was told to phone the manufacturer myself (I had already done that) and come back the next day. The head of cashier at customer service here does not actually do the work or even attempt to try, or pretend to try. No matter what you ask her she just has a canned response with it is not possible or not part of the company policy. She was very pleasant otherwise so perhaps it is more of a reflection of the management of this store and how poorly managed it is to not actually vette their employees and how they deal with customer service issues. Despite showing the policies written on the Lowe's website which customer service was directly contradicting they refuse to follow simple policies like price matching, even to their own store. Save yourself some time, just go to the Home Depot. It is a shame as Lowe's in the US was so great, so this is definitely tarnishing their brand and reputation especially for Canadians who are visiting it for the first time. read more

My husband and I went into the store yesterday looking for a white Maytag dishwasher. The employee working in the appliance section was very little help. We had to look at all the machines ourselves to try to find a Maytag. When we did, we had to approach him to find out information we needed because they didn't have a white one on display. He didn't seem to know much about anything. I was telling him what I had learned from looking on line. He didn't bother to look before I mentioned it. He couldn't give us any info on the buyer protection plan and what the delivery covered. He didn't offer to help us through the on line process of ordering it. An employee accused us of trying to rip them off by already claiming their promotion when we did not - our receipt clearly indicates what we had purchased and we did not claim their promotion. Just a heads up that this is no longer a Rona Store. I came here thinking that it was and now it is Lowe's. Similar layout but a different company, sadly compared to Rona which always had good service, I could not find anyone at all during the peak times to help me. It was a frustrating struggle that I only bought the items that I found for myself and just benched the rest that I couldn't find for another day. I just needed help with getting a certain kind of screws and size, however, with the frustration of trying to find some assistance....I felt like I lost my screws. So why the 2 stars and not 1? Their staff's product knowledge is very poor. I went in and asked about gate hardware, but the woman at the service counter just looked at me. It became clear that she didn't know what "gate" or "hardware" means, and she's at the service counter. The other day I went in to ask what size fence panels they carry, and she didn't understand even enough to look in the book of products.
