So glad I stumbled upon this sushi place! It's smaller but very intimate . The sushi is fresh delicious and all the sauces are made in the house from scratch. I had the hot gator ! And OMG 10/10 . smoked salmon, krab, cucumber, spicy mayo, scallion topped with eel, avocado and sesame seeds was a perfect combo. The crunchy delight was also really good and we asked for the sushi to be torched for this roll. Service was excellent and all food came out at a reasonable time. Without a doubt, the most expensive sushi restaurant I have ever dined at (and I have been to Nobu). ONE PIECE of salmon nigiri is $12. A salmon Maki roll (seaweed on the outside) is $14-16. Try Fugu sushi instead. Half the price and same level of quality. This place uses Bathroom napkins as their dinner napkins (the brown hard crispy ones). Get there early just to give yourself enough time for parking. I arrived on a very rainy Saturday around 5:10 and still had to circle the block to find parking. I was able to park in 10 minutes but it's right on ISB so you have the option to park on the road or in the little parking lot they share next door. The bathroom looked immaculate and they put a lot of effort into making it look good. They had more than the traditional Sapporo Japanese beer which was nice. First time here and it was over all a good experience. All interactions with the staff were great and the food was super tasty. We started with the Calamari with cauliflower which was more cauliflower than calamari and the pieces were a bit larger than I'd prefer but still was good. We then got 3 different sushi rolls which were all excellent. My only gripe was we arrived just after opening and the overall cleanliness was less than I'd expect for a higher end restaurant that specializes in serving raw food. If I had to make a suggestion a regular deep cleaning schedule and possibly better lighting or lighter walls could assist with this. It certainly could have been an isolated event and we'll definitely be back. This could easily be a 5 star restaurant with a couple tweaks. read more

We were giving this restaurant a second chance as the first visit had poor service but we will never return. Food was not that good for being so expensive. The biggest problem is the service. The waitress delivered half the table their food and we didn't see her again until we had to get someone else to go get her. By the time the rest of the table got their food everyone was already done eating, we just asked for the food in "to go" boxes. We were there for over two hours. The manager came to the table (unsolicited) and apologized and said the kitchen was backed up and offered 10% discount on our meals. I took my mother out to dinner here after several recommendations from my friends. It is a quaint sushi restaurant located right off Beach St. in Daytona Beach, FL. It is tastefully decorated on the inside with bare brick walls and beautiful artwork. The restaurant has two halves and we were seated right by the sushi bar, my favorite spot. They have a very expansive menu and there was plenty to choose from! Something cool that they offered was Kobe beef, which a lot of restaurants in the area do not offer. My mother started with a green tea that was served in a unique setup and a generous portion of miso soup. After much deliberation, we ordered the volcano, Hawaiian, mango with tempura shrimp and sea monster roll. All the ingredients were fresh and the flavors were wonderful! However, all of our rolls were brought to us cold. I love sushi and have eaten at numerous places across the country, but I've never had my tempura rolls or rolls with baked items on top served cold. Due to the absence of our waitress, we sat and watched our sushi on the bar ready to be served, with grumbling tummies, for over 20 minutes. At that point all the sauces soaked in and the tempura didn't have its perfect crunch. I'm sure if we had a better waitress, my first experience would've been amazing. But I really can't let cold sushi go. I'd be willing to try this restaurant again in the future, but I won't be rushing back anytime soon. read more
