When Ronk brothers came out, they agreed with two other companies that the water was coming from my natural gas water heater. Since their bid was the lowest, I decided to use them. I'd previously noticed that my natural gas furnace had been stickered as being set up for propane, so I asked the installers to check on that for me, since they were already here. (I learned much later that they apparently did check the furnace, but didn't tell me they did. Unfortunately, they couldn't tell it contained 3" of water!) So a week or so after replacing my water heater, and me noticing my carpeting getting wetter each day, I assumed a pipe in the wall might've been disturbed by the plumbing work, and called Ronk back. Lance agreed to come out. Lance arrived and after checking, decided for some reason to open the furnace. It shared a pan with my old water heater. Lance found the 3" of water in the bottom of the furnace, overflowing into the pan. He tracked the leak down to a small fitting on the condensation drain of the furnace, that had rusted through. I hadn't yet learned that the workers had checked the furnace as they promised, so told Lance they would've seen the water, if they'd checked as asked, and I could've saved $3700.00. Lance agreed but said they hadn't checked because "they wouldn't have been able to tell by looking at it if it were set up for propane, anyway." I asked Lance how much it would cost to fix the leak. He said he'd "have to order the parts". I pointed out the hardware store had parts like that. He said "Well yeah, I could go to the hardware store". He say their minimum was $139.00. I asked if, since they sold me $3700.00 worth of water heater I didn't need, they could give me a discount. He said yes, he'd ask and get back with me the next day. Since my old water heater was still in perfect shape, and being a power vent, worth almost as much as the tankless I just bought, i asked if I could get it back. He said he'd check. He called back the next day, and left a message. Repair was going to be $149.00. I said no thanks, I'd do it myself. He also said my old water heater had already been scrapped. I went to Lowe's and found that the part I needed was 1/2" pipe thread by 1/2" tube. It cost less than a dollar. Repair involved removing a hose clamp, pulling off the tube, unscrewing the old fitting, and reversing the process with the new fitting. Needless to say, I'm frustrated that they didn't catch the real cause of the leak. I'm frustrated that Lance still wanted to charge me $149.00 for a $1 part, on top of that. After Ronk saw this review, Brian called me. He explained they did check the furnace and hadn't charged me for doing so, had worked with me on a competitive bid, and very politely told me he felt they went the extra mile for me. He apologized, which helps. My initial contact with Ronk Brothers was great. The installers were polite. Lance, and/or whoever directed his decision on how to handle this, did not demonstrate customer service or resolution skills. Brian was polite. read more

When it comes to buying a gas furnace in Skagit Valley you have choices. I chose Ronk Brothers for the following reasons. Their professionalism in working with me and their workmanship. I had Ronk install a tankless water years ago. They were here as scheduled, did an outstanding job with the install and cleaned up at the end of the job. Everyone I interfaced with from Sarah at the office to the installers was personable and professional. I expected the same with my furnace purchase and Ronk did not disappoint. They have an excellent team at Ronk. My second reason was pricing. I am retired and how and where I spend my money is important. I had two choices in purchasing my Lennox furnace. I could buy from the big box store that sells $4.99 chicken and offers a rebate Cash card of varying percentages to spend at that store. I did get a bid from the heating company that does their installs. I then contacted Ronk and solicited a bid from them. I am happy to say their bid was very very competitive. So much so that the choice was have a cash card I could only use at that warehouse store or save the money in the first place. Ronk made the choice easy. I highly recommend Ronk Brothers when it comes to your heating and cooling needs. There is a reason they are goskagit Skagit's Best Winner for 2019. Give them an opportunity to serve you. We recently moved into our new home in Stanwood and it only had those small cadet heaters and a couple baseboards throughout the home. They were expensive to run, terribly inefficient, and no way to really set a temperature. We got a few bids and every other company that came out decided to tell us exactly what would be "best for us" without listening to what we actually wanted. Ronk Brothers was different, they sat and listened to what we liked and disliked about certain systems and recommended based on that. Yes, the system we got ended up being more expensive than the "recommended," but it's what WE wanted, and Ronk Brothers was the only company to actually listen to that. It was a pretty complicated install, with all brand new duct work, new high efficiency heat pump, air handler, and a smart thermostat (which is AWESOME!). The installers, Jeremy and Nick, were incredibly hard workers and did such a great job, while respecting our home and having fun with our kids as they played outside while they were working. It took several days to install, but it is SO worth it! I don't even feel the hot or cold, because it's just one consistent temperature throughout the house. We recently had Ronk Brothers come and install a new furnace in our home (our original was 25 years old, inefficient, and currently not working). The entire process was seamless and stress free. Mike, who originally came out to check why our old furnace wasn't working, was able to find and install a part so we could at least have heat until the new furnace was installed. He also was very helpful in explaining our options and was able to give us a quote. Lance came out and measured for the new installation and gave a thorough explanation of a few changes that needed to be made. Installers Jeff and Mark showed up on time on the scheduled day and completed the installation, including making the necessary changes for our new highly efficient furnace. We can't say enough positive things about Ronk Brothers company. Our old heating system has limped along for over six years with their helpful service calls. During the coldest weather of this winter, it finally failed. They were at our home the same day, late in their workman's schedule and presented us with choices and estimates before the weekend; he knew his products and answered all our questions in terms we could understand. Their representative also, without our asking, thoughtfully brought three radiator space heaters for us to borrow to help us through. Within a week we had a new heat pump, furnace and air conditioning system installed by their team. The installers were two technicians and one electrician - all of them were prompt, thoughtful of our space, and efficient. In case you're looking for a heat pump, this is where to shop. Had 4 bids, Ronk not only came in with the lowest bid, but had the best quality heat pump. The other bids we entertained offered 3 ton 14 seer at a much higher price. We ended up with a 3 ton Bosch 20 seer from Ronk. They sent out a very professional appraiser that went through what we required and gave us an immediate quote, followed by a technician that went over everything on the appraisers list. Verified the quote and set an installation date. The installation was set for 8:30 am. the installers, Joe and Anthony showed up at our door at 8:30 am let us know what they would be doing, and answered any questions we had. Our farm business was at risk of being shut down by the USDA unless we had hot, running water by last Friday. A++ for quality and for customer service. We elected to replace our furnace at the same time as adding air conditioning. Both were installed on the aggressive time scheduled agreed to by Ronk Brothers. After install, our 2nd floor was not as cool as the 1st floor (due to existing structural limitations). A solution was derived, but a little more costly than we wanted to outlay given the amount we had just invested. So, we opted to live with it. The next day, Joey contacted me, and stated they wanted "make things right". 24 hours later, Ronk Brothers had completed the revision at no additional cost to us -- again, amazing Customer Service! read more

Friday night... No hot water... Called Ronk's emergency number; received a call back within a couple of hours, and the tech (Adam) came over (he abandoned a dinner with his visiting parents!), got the thermo-couple and pilot light to function again. Very reasonable rate, too, for an after hours call. Then Monday, supervisor Lance called to set up an appointment (later that day) for an estimate to replace the old (15 year) tank; Tuesday installer Jeff showed up right on time and had the change out done in 1 1/2 hours. My house crawlspace was flooded and they were able to remove the wet insulation, install new ducting and sanitize the existing system.
