Comparing an RV left at a repair facility for weeks to a vehicle parked at Walmart misses the point entirely. Customers leave their vehicles with a repair shop expecting a reasonable level of security and accountability. What concerns me most is not the theft itself, but the apparent lack of concern afterward. The focus seemed to be on avoiding liability rather than addressing why a long-time customer's property was stolen while on their property. Took our Jeep Liberty in to resolve a continued issue with our heater. Another auto repair company had replaced the thermostat and radiator, but the issue wasn't resolved. Ron's found that the coolant was low, dirty & watered down. They did a coolant exchange, but the problem persisted. They had to completely remove all coolant and ran a cleaner through the system. Then they put in new coolant. This told us that the new radiator (from the previous shop) had been filled with old original coolant plus water!!! I highly recommend this shop. read more

Jason is a good guy there at the customer service desk. They did a transmission fluid change and a oil change on my RV. You also receive a courtesy inspection for free there too. Well, nothing is free. All went well. I would come back here again. Their expensive though. They seemed pretty knowledgeable. I did have to call them back after I and made my first call into them as the lady took down my information, told me she would give me a call back with a quote and never called me back. I have a 36 ft. Class A RV on a Ford F53 chassis. It needed a differential replacement under factory warranty. Could not get an appointment anywhere at a Ford dealer that could handle this vehicle. Ford Pro Service authorized Ron's to diagnose, then repair it. Repairs were done with factory parts in a timely manner. I was kept informed throughout the process, shown the defective parts while it was disassembled, and picked up my RV on the day it was promised. I am 100% satisfied with the crew at Ron's! read more

I had a ford f-150 3.6 L turbo boost engine that ended up having one of its turbos fail. I brought it into this shop. The shop manager recommended replacing both turbos on the engine along with the muffler. Unfortunately, less than 3 months after the repair, fluid started leaking from one of the turbos. The staff was friendly, and they did a good job on the muffler modification, but the turbo repair, which cost over 5,000 dollars was not quality. read more

Went there to see about getting some work done on my truck and was directing to the other side of the building. I guess there's 2 businesses out of the same location. Waiting to talk to the only guy in the shop but he was busy on the phone. Ended his call and still couldn't talk to him just a horrible manager. Turned out they would have made a lot of money I had to get the transmission fix but it went to another shop. So he didn't card about making money I guess. Overpriced, cheap parts, and dishonest repairs. Avoid if all possible. They will overcharge you on parts and labor, and if they apply a discount, you still overpaid. They will try a way to cut corners and maximize their profits. Go to a dealer instead, at least you get factory parts. Jason the write-up guy, has no clue about cars. He is a greasy "Salesman", ask him why a check engine comes on, he will try to sell you a car. If he hesitates and throws out nonsense, good sign......exit the building! Years ago I asked a trusted friend for a referral to an auto shop. Without hesitation, he recommended Ron's Auto & RV. He and Tony, I believe, spent hours together in the home garage back in high school days. I've entrusted my cars to them for many years now, and have never been disappointed or had a reason to distrust. I am one to ask questions and need explanations. I have long been a fan of Les Schwab for tires. They had shown me the damaged struts and recommended appropriate work. Pretty expensive. Estimate at Ron's was even more so. Mike (yes, a guy), at the front desk, took the time to turn his computer around to show me and explain, from a schematic, the design and components of the different struts. They are not all created equal. Big difference, if you're in it for the long haul. They are not the cheapest in town, but their employees look healthy and satisfied. The work is quality. I needed a redo of a starter once. Warranty honored, no questions asked. They are busy, yet very personable. The waiting area has big cushy leather-like furniture. Only once or twice has there been another person hanging out there with me. Never crowded. Oh, and the bathroom. For customers only. Really clean! So important to me. Ron's Auto and RV lied to me, and I have the proof. Took my RV in for oil change and to check the suspension. They came up with a long list of "Recommendations"; including that the transmission fluid was "dirty" and needed to be flushed, and the shocks needed to be replaced. Once I arrived home, I checked my service records and the transmission had been flushed 6 months prior by a different place. I took the RV to yet another place and they confirmed that the transmission fluid was clean and the vehicle did NOT need new shocks. Do NOT patronize this establishment!! read more

I took my car to Ron's Auto & RV after doing extensive research on the business and verifying over the phone with the manager, Mike, that they knew how to work on my car. This was the first mechanic I've ever used that wasn't a dealer and I was already a bit nervous about it. Unfortunately, what so often happens with cars is that we don't take the time to find the best auto repair shops because we wait until our car has an immediate issue to try and find a trustworthy mechanic. And this is what led to me managing to find the WORST AUTO REPAIR SHOP I've ever had the bad luck to cross paths with (in spite of hundreds of glowing reviews to the contrary). Based on the symptoms my car was exhibiting, I believed that I needed a wheel bearing replacement. Due to the noise transference, it was hard to tell which wheel it was coming from but I guessed that it was coming from the front. When I dropped off my car at around 9:30 a.m., Mike quoted me a price for a front wheel bearing replacement and stated that he'd let me know if that didn't turn out to be the issue. Five hours later, Mike left me a voice message stating that they were indeed replacing the left FRONT wheel bearing. Three hours later, I get a call from Mike who tells me that in fact, they ended up replacing the right REAR wheel bearing instead and that my car now has a left front wheel sensor issue which is causing the ABS system to cut in and out. He stated that they would be taking care of the sensor problem for me for "free", a job that would consist of a $15 part that he would need to order and 30 minutes worth of labor. He said that using the scope they figured out that it was the left front sensor and that upon inspection, they found significant rusting that was the likely cause. I asked him what the total cost would now be for the bearing job and he said it would still be the same because it's essentially the same job and the same part. Wait, what? I always do my homework before bringing my car into a mechanic or agreeing to any quote and I knew for a fact that a REAR wheel bearing job is NOT the same as a front, in fact is takes nearly half the time to complete it when done by a skilled mechanic. Just to be sure, I made some calls to local repair shops for quotes and all of them, without exception, quoted me a price on a rear wheel bearing replacement that was anywhere from $100 to $130 less. But I guess I was supposed to be assuaged by the "free" wheel sensor replacement. The next morning, I told Mike that I did not think the price was fair given that the original quote was for a front bearing job. I was thinking maybe he'd hear me out and we could reach an agreement. Instead, Mike immediately became defensive and tried justifying the cost which included blaming ME for telling them I thought it was the front wheel bearing. He stated that it took them TWO HOURS just to diagnose the issue and thirty minutes to do the actual job. Wow. He then stated that I should be grateful for the price I was given because a dealer would've charged me $125 vs. their $105 per hour labor charge for the same job (I told him a dealer would never have taken two hours to diagnose the issue in the first place and of course he didn't like that). He then asked me what it was that I wanted and I told him "a fair price" and that based on what the issue ended up being, the job should've cost at least $100 less. I suggested that we split the difference, which would only have taken $50 off of my invoice, and he looked at me like he had been slapped. He then said "no, you know what, I'm going to give it to you (meaning the $100 off) and then we'll part ways". In other words, I would not be welcome back at his shop and they would not honor any warranty for the bearing job they had completed. He also stated that I was welcome to come get the sensor on Monday but that his offer to fix it would no longer be honored. When I expressed my belief that they had created the problem with my sensor, he denied it and stated that the ABS light "just suddenly came on" while they were test-driving my car. Luckily for me, I managed to find the best repair shop in all the land five days later. They listened to my horror story, ordered the sensor and diagnosed what created the sensor issue to begin with. The verdict? My front left wheel bearing hub had been improperly reassembled, leaving a metal plate/washer in the way of the sensor. You could see that the washer had been tampered with and even broken off at the edge in an effort to move it out of the way without having to take the wheel hub apart again. What should've been a "30 minute job" to pop in a new sensor ended up taking my new mechanic over an hour and a half to do because they had to remove my wheel, remove the axle nut, push the CV joint out of the way and rotate the washer into its proper position, which they did for me AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. Why? Because that's what a truly honest and good auto repair shop does. read more

Being a woman you have to be careful where you take your car. I just posted that Jiffy Lube on Mill Plain, Vancouver is terrible. This is where you need to take your car. I've had my car in here for several things and mainly if it's something that's dumb, like finding out that my key was worn down and that's why my car wasn't starting correctly, they don't charge. They are up front about charges. When they have had to actually work on my car I feel that they are honest and actually have decent prices. I really do suggest you take your car here. The only thing they could do better is talk to me when I go in with my male roommate. It's not his car it's MINE! He's never made one payment on it, so talk to ME. Don't act like I don't know anything about cars just cause I'm a woman. Otherwise, they're the best I've experienced in Vancouver. read more

Brought my Jeep in to replace a failing CV axle and a leaky heater core. The CV axle is a relatively low-cost quick job, but the heater core requires removing the entire front dash, steering wheel, airbags, etc...it's a good 8 hours of solid work. I was probably lucky with the timing, but brought it in midmorning and they called around noon the next day to say everything was ready! And it was, my car was back in shape and providing heat again in sub-freezing weather. Pricing was fair. I'm sure I could have hunted around and found something lower cost if I really tried, but Ron's was right in the middle of the pack (I've had the heater core fix quoted several places in the past). They didn't try to sell me things I didn't need, but made an upsell recommendation where it counted. Such as making sure to get a high quality brass heater core rather than the cheap aluminum ones, which will just leak again in no time (another fact I'd previously verified with friends who have the same car). A lot of mechanics are scared to make suggestions like that because people automatically assume they're trying to sell blinker fluid and flux dynomogrifiers! One last funny story...a couple weeks after the CV axle replacement, I heard a terrible grinding from the front end on turns (usually a sign of bad CV joints). I took it back to Ron's; they were pretty busy but one of the guys hopped in to take a test drive. He came back and said he hadn't noticed anything wrong! I couldn't believe it, as it was making very loud grinding on every turn. So I took him back out to try to recreate the issue...and nothing was wrong. Turns out that when I put the transfer case in 4LO on a snowy hill, it didn't go all the way back into part-time 4WD when I switched the transfer case back. If you have a sticky transfer case on a Jeep sometimes the best solution is to put a lot of torque through it so it will drop back down into part-time 4WD. I had been driving very gently after hearing the grinding, trying not to make the problem worse. All it took was someone else driving it a little more aggressively to fix the problem! And therefore they fixed my car without having to touch a wrench. read more

Very positive experience with these guys. Very honest and straight forward! Fixed the power steering issue and let me know that I had a broken manifold issue. They fixed that and the RV is nice and relatively quiet now. :) Was my first RV and just expected it was noisy because it was old. Work was done a lot faster than my previous experiences elsewhere. I could not possibly be more impressed by my experience with Ron's Auto and RV. I called them at 8am to get a diagnostic quote. Which was more than fair. Upon arrival around 40 minutes later, I was greeted by Mike. He couldn't give me much of a time estimate, not knowing what they were looking at. I had a diagnosis before I made it back to my East Vancouver home. And had a call before noon to pick it up. They under promised and over delivered in every way. Okay, so first impression is over the phone. The guy I talked to is actually polite and doesn't try to say he doesn't know what something is gonna cost. He gives me an estimate for replacing my muffler, which is actually cheaper than even the big guys. So I go in and the waiting area is actually nice. And clean. Big points there. Then same thing with the guy at the counter, polite and gives me the price and timeframe. I go have lunch and come back to find I didn't need a new muffler after all. (And I was certain I did) just a few feet of tailpipe. Wow. Who else would have been honest about that? No one, that's who. So for $50 less, I leave satisfied. I have to say this was really a great experience. I don't feel like I have to be on high alert when dealing with them. They have proven themselves to me. I will be returning to have my cv joints replaced and my brake pads. I won't even have to worry. Awesome experience!!! read more

Took my Jeep in for it's annual checkup. I was very happy to learn that after hooking my jeep up to the computers, I needed to replace a filter. Ron's guy gave me a great price on the replacement and I saved money on not blowing out the head gasket by getting this work done.
