With Butter just a week ago, I think we can all agree there are plenty out there. - where were the free water stations? You're putting people in an outdoor venue on hot summer day and no free refillable water stations? Cmon, it's 2022 lol - more shaded seating would have been nice too! Now that the tips are outta the way, this was a super fun event and I will def be back in the future. The art was mostly too pricy for me but then again, I'm not an art dealer that can afford $$$$ on art. I loved the variety of jewelry, glassware, paintings, photography, and more.

The festival features more than 130 juried artists who are each exceptional at their work. This is not a craft fair or flea market; rather, these are high end pieces ranging from paintings to photographs to jewelry and ceramics and beyond. Some of the price tags are high (meaning you could drop $3,000 if you wanted to) but many offer affordable prints of their paintings at a lower cost, for example. I was mesmerized to see the diversity and quality of artwork. Even though there are thousands of attendees, the festival is set up well and flows easily. There are food vendors on-site (would love to see more international cuisine), dance demonstrations and more. My only suggestion is to give it more "international" flair as I'm not really sure why it's called the international arts festival. Perhaps a number of the artists travel from abroad? I'm not entirely sure.

The children really enjoyed seeing all different types of art displayed there. They even got to participate in one of the art exhibits. Carmel High school had a display where the children could choose a number and color that number on a giant Mona Lisa painting. After all the colors were finished, the painting would be displayed at the high school. Do they really enjoy being a part of that. We'll have to get back up there to see how the finished work turned out. There were food vendors out, live music, dance lessons taking place. So a few things to see. It was nice. I enjoyed the fried veggie truck. I can't remember the name but it was good. I will say it would have been nice to see other representation of other cultures here, as it called itself the "International" fair. But definitely a nice event to go do to get some fresh air and see some local art talent.

Just be sure to check their hours, as they're different from the hotel's! The gallery only has two locations: NYC and Indianapolis. I feel pretty blessed that our city has such an esteemed spot. Boasting both local art and world-famous art, this gallery switches out exhibits every few months, and holds a first Friday party when they have a new one. Currently, their winter exhibit is called "Rock, Paper, Metal" that will be up until February 2020. Long-Sharp Gallery curates the art in the entire hotel. The Conrad has world-renowned art allllll throughout. Boasting names like Dali, Picasso and Warhol, you'll be amazed by what you encounter by simply stepping inside. There are even several art ambassadors on hand to take you around the hotel and show you some of the masterpieces. So fun!

What I really love about the space is that the collection is not just limited to the designated gallery space; you can find pieces from the collection throughout the hotel's public spaces. Also, pieces from the collection are featured in the museum's gallery rooms, which are available for use in the hotel itself. Long-Sharp is free to visit; simply make an appointment with the gallery staff, or stop by during their normal open hours.

This year it was at Garfield Park which is very pretty location and seemed a good fit for the festival. There were 3 stages with a variety of bands throughout the day. I enjoyed the tents dedicated to Irish history and there was a nice small exhibit dedicated to the 1916 Proclamation and Rebellion. There were enough drink tents with both Irish beers and other options. Needs to be some type of whiskey tent added. Food choices were limited and lines long. Not sure if this was due to the downsizing of the event or not. The Irish dancers were fun to watch and there could have been more of it. I would go again to compare against a non-covid year. I've heard about this via social media and people that I know, I'm glad I finally had the chance to check it out. Located in military park in downtown Indy, you'll find the Irish fest. You can purchase advance tickets or pay at the gate. After you walk inside further there are so many different tents and options I'm not sure how someone would make it through the whole thing! Visually it's awesome to take it all the different tents and booths, there's political, firefighters, art, jewelry, clothes and so much more! The beer options are impressive for a festival, Irish beers as well as some local, yay sinking! As well as some wine! Food options are "traditional" Irish fare, and they don't forget the kids so there's something for everyone. I had a corned beef sandwich on rye! I really enjoyed the music! I tried several different foods - fettuccine, fried ravioli, meatballs on a stick and cannoli. The fettuccine was not great. This one would be a skip for me - the noodles were overcooked and the sauce was very average. I LOVED the meatballs on a stick. That red sauce was amazing and I 100 percent recommend getting some of that and sticking with the red sauce based foods. Fried ravioli was alright. I have had better but it was satisfactory and a good way to start my food journey through the festival. The cannolis were excellent too. I saved one for the next day and it stayed crispy and delicious. There is music, some carnival type activities and something to note: food tickets are cash only!

The exhibits inside feature Indianapolis African-American history as well as broader African-American and African history. The space is small for a museum, but massive for what it is. There's a plethora of art, displays, and factoids. It's well worth the low ticket cost. The community carefully curates and protects the history and space.

Wow, I did not know this was here! Located connected to the Crispus Attucks High School just off…read moreof 10th st downtown. (I beelive the space is a renovation of their old auxiliary gym.) Admission is $9 for adults and there is a large parking lot on the 10th st side of the school. I was there with a small group and we had an appointment; I would check first because I am not sure if the hours are by-appointment only. We were greeted and given a wonderful presentation by nad discussion with the curator, as well as walked around on our own. The museum has some info on Crispus Attucks, the first person killed in Boston in the upcoming age of the Boston Tea Party and Revlutionary War. Also some information about the history of the High School, including their state champion basketball team, and segregation in Indianapolis. Also some hsmall exhibits of poeple of color in the Indinaapolis music scene, and also an exhibit about serving in the military. One of the traveling/temporary exhibits when I was there was about lynching. There was specific signage in this area requesting no photos or video, so I do not have pics of that. Go see it in person and educate yourself. The last lynching in the US happened in 1930, and it was here in Indiana, not some far away "deep south." It was HERE. There's a photo of beaten, bloody, descirated bodies hanging and a whole crowed of dressed up people spectating, looking unphased like they're just at a street fair. There is also other news articles, art work, etc. Lynching history in the US is beyond horrible, and even if you think you know, go and learn more, and reflect. Was there in Feb 2024, and other exhibits included some of ancient Egypt , Ethiopa, Timbuktu, and other parts of Africa. Of particular interest to me also was some customary fabric for clothing, many articfacts, and descriptions of the symbolism in the fabric patterns, so I have included pics of that here.
