Came here on a Wednesday from 5:30pm-7:15pm and I was unfortunately disappointed. There was a private event going on, but the service was incredibly slow. We ordered the fondue, Caesar salad, and hummus, and the food was amazing; however, since we had leftover fondue cheese, we asked for more bread. About 20 minutes go by, and still no bread... It took about another 15 minutes before the waiter ever made eye contact with us before we had asked for the check. Since we had opened the tab, we didn't really look at the receipt but looking at the receipt this morning, Rontoms charged us for the bread we never got! So frustrating! I chose Romtoms on a chilly Wednesday night because they appeared to have a heated patio for me and my pup. The inside was pretty lively with a dark and cool ambiance. There was no host seating people so I just walked my dog through the restaurant to the back patio myself. The back patio is huge and all but 2 tables were free. I sat down at one with a flame and waited almost 10 minutes for anyone to come out. I was ready to leave when a server brought some menus and turned up the fire. He was a super cool dude. I wound up getting the grilled cheese / tomato soup combo, as well as a side salad for some greenery. I really enjoyed all the food; the grilled cheese was grilled nicely and had some good flavor; the soup was warm and though too cheesy had a nice taste as well; and though the salad was simple the ingredients were all fresh and the dressing was awesome. I got a glass of pinot noir to wash it down, and the waiter was smart to bring some water (for me and my dog). I did drive around the block 3 times but eventually found some street parking. The neighborhood feels a tad shady but not unsafe really. Aside from some confusion on getting a table and service initially, the rest of the experience was fairly pleasant, although my legs were quite cold with only some warm flames hitting my face, and the rap music was a bit too loud and jarring. read more

I was visiting portland and a friend took us here, they had live music this night and it got pretty full but we were able to find a beautiful table in the back within the trees and string lighting it was such a peaceful vibe and the music was really good! They had delicious craft cocktails, at slightly below average prices and it's always nice to not pay tax in Oregon haha. I got the grilled cheese and tomato soup - name a better duo, I'll wait - and it was so yummy. Something about it being cut into triangles and having the perfect crisp on the edge with creamy cheese that stretches for inches when u bite into it -- amazing.
